Deborah Layne
Clay, when they say "next" it almost always means "this." It's a translation thing. Look back over the years of articles and you'll see that this more than likely does mean tomorrow. Plus, if they mean another eight days, there'd have been explanation as to why, and probably a bunch of articles about fights breaking out and all sorts of issues with the budget that would require a huge hiatus like that. Deborah Layne
So looks like the vote will be for late next week then.Don't you remember that next means this99.9% of the time? I can believe late THIS week but NEXT week?? There'd be bloviating articles and complaints and explanations coming out by now. It has to mean THIS, as usual, unless we get a bunch of explanation in the immediate future as to why they'd just sit around for a whole week. Deborah Layne
- Somebody quoted an article saying "Tuesday 01/20/2015 at 11:00 am" for this next reading but I don't see it anywhere. Does any article reference that date that we've yet found? Okay here it is - I can't copy the whole thing but there's a link Next Tuesday is literal this time..."After the presidency of the Council decided to adjourn the meeting to next Tuesday 01/20/2015 11:00 pm." No vote till then...Jubouri gave them this time..."For his part, President al-Jubouri, the granting of the Finance Committee of time an opportunity to submit its final report on the budget and taking into account the comments of the House of Representatives that the Committee to hold hearings are continuing to host the concerned ministries to discuss the financial budget." http://www.parliament.iq/English/# Edited January 12, 2015 by Deborah Layne

WheresmyRV?
Well we all gotta say that they have gotten a lot farther on the 2015 budget than the 2014 budget. Another week to vote her in and a few days later its published in the Gazette.
King Bean
By THEIR accounts, next Tuesday the 20th to vote on the budget is still months ahead of their norm the last 11 years. So they are ahead......does that make sense? Of course not. You can drag a dead camel to water, but you can't make him............ And on that note, there are so many other laws sitting idle for years and years. Apparently they can only focus on one thing at a time or they would be meeting daily to take care of the back wash. Not so in Iraq.
