UNEEK
Parable Of The Pencil The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box. There are 5 things you need to know, he told the pencil, before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be. One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone's hand. Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become a better pencil. Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make. Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside. And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write. The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart. Now replacing the place of the pencil with you; always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be. One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess. Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems, but you'll need it to become a stronger person. Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make. Four: The most important part of you will always be what's on the inside. And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties. By understanding and remembering, let us proceed with our life on this earth having a meaningful purpose in our heart. ~ Author Unknown ~

tankdude
This was a 3 day weekend known as a Cursillo. I was one of the support personnel - worked in the kitchen, but we did much more than that. The entire goup - including the support personnel - are cloistered for the weekend. It is filled with group prayer, presentations, bible study and worship - when you aren't working. Kind of like a light touch of monastic life - without the vow of silence. *lol*
Jim1cor13
Thank you Uneek. I often think life itself is a parable, that is often never understood because we become too busy with the noise of life to listen enough to 'hear' that still small voice. Add to it what everyone else *thinks* we should think or believe, and it is no wonder there is confusion and so much despair. People looking for everything dark, not realizing the light is always close, always lit, always bright. It is not what goes on around us...it is what goes on inside of each of us that needs attention. We have heard it said, "you are what you eat"...even more so, we are what we think.
tankdude
"The aphorism, "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he," not only embraces the whole of a man's being, but is so comprehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstance of his life. A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts." Jim1cor13
Indeed tankdude. Thank you for that. It has always been the desire of those who control to target how a person thinks, to shape their subjects thoughts, emotions, perceptions in order to steer them into the box created for them. We see it today in ways that are often overlooked, '24 hour news', political actions, religious traditions, entertainment, etc. Free thinkers are often looked down upon or are looked at with contempt because they refuse to follow a scripted narrative pushed upon them daily by so many voices. Shock and trauma are often the best tools as it stops critical thinking and uses fear to stifle any thought outside of the acceptable 'boundaries'. Appreciate your thoughts tankdude.
