The committee’s report concluded that of the 119 detainees, “at least 26 were wrongfully held.”

“These included an ‘intellectually challenged’ man whose C.I.A. detention was used solely as leverage to get a family member to provide information, two individuals who were intelligence sources for foreign liaison services and were former C.I.A. sources, and two individuals whom the C.I.A. assessed to be connected to Al Qaeda based solely on information fabricated by a C.I.A. detainee subjected to the C.I.A.'s enhanced interrogation techniques,” the report said.

And it wasn't just bad guys who were tortured:

  • U.S. military files show that many Guantánamo prisoners were held on the flimsiest grounds such as wearing a Casio watch, being a prisoner in a Taliban jail, driving cabs in certain geographic regions, or being Al Jazeera reporters

Thank You Bandit... Exactly To The Point... Many Of The Detainees Were Innocent!!!

We've been thru this before Maggie, they weren't there for jaywalking, other articles and facts have pointed out that some were innocent on SOME charges, not all charges.  I've said it before but here it comes again because I know it takes time for you to grasp certain concepts on occasion, not ALL muslims are bad, however, the few nutjobs are making them ALL look bad.  They know this and they don't care, because if they did there are more then enough of them to clean up their own mess and wipe out the bad ones.  I'd say the majority of muslims are closet terrorists, yep that's right, opportunists who will switch sides at the drop of a hat to which ever team they feel is winning at the time or benefits themselves.  If that were not the case, why do they cheer their @$$es off whenever something bad happens to the USA or our allies?

But you know what better safe then sorry I don't care if they had collateral damage, maybe they should have cleaned up their own house so we wouldn't have to.

Maggie do you know who was completely innocent?

These folks, men, women, and children (not soldiers) people who were just going to work to try and feed themselves and their families, how soon you forget!  I don't care what the CIA does to these goat herding bomb builders as long as I never see THIS happen to my people ever again!!!

This report was released to distract from Gruber's testimony on Capitol Hill and it worked perfectly.  Everything in the report was already known.  Enhanced interrogation techniques were stopped almost 8 years ago.

Funny you should say that...

ad5e9866feb69810a0db07b7ed2d269f.jpgFox News wants you to ignore the torture report because 'America is awesome'

December 10, 2014

Remember watching American cable news in the 2000s?

You'd get that same march-to-war vibe if you turned on Fox News after the Senate Intelligence Committee released a long-delayed report about how the CIA tortured detainees in a shadowy network of secret prisons around the world and then repeatedly lied, both to the White House and Congress, about the nature and efficacy of its illegal program.

Because most of the report's findings implicated Bush rather than Obama, Fox News was able to once again start playing the tune that took it to the top of the cable news charts: defending every conceivable action of every member of the Bush administration and beating the war drums loud enough for even its aging audience to hear.

On Tuesday, the same day the Senate's report was released, panelists on the Fox show Outnumbered—which features the hilariously outrageous concept of one conservative bro having to talk to multiple ladies at the same time—recited a whole litany of reasons why Americans shouldn't care about the report. (As a reminder, this report found that torture virtually never produced any kind of actionable intelligence.)

Here are some of the Outnumbered panelists' reasons, as compiled in a video captured by Raw Story.

  1. "The United States of America is awesome."
  2. "People do nasty things in the dark, especially after a terrorist attack."
  3. The report is just an attempt by the Democrats to distract the country from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee's grilling of Jonathan Gruber, an economist who helped design the Affordable Care Act and has since said that the law was only passed due to the "stupidity of the American voter."
  4. "Senate Democrats just want to get one last shot in at Bush before they go into the minority."
  5. The report is as "one-sided" as Rolling Stone's piece about the UVA rape case (bonus victim-shaming dog-whistle!).
  6. "Democrats didn't care about transparency when they were destroying hard drives at the IRS."
  7. "Sunlight at the CIA? That's one place I don't need sunlight."
  8. "Thousands of people were killed at 9/11 and the Bush Administration did what the American public wanted: do whatever it takes to keep us safe."
  9. We "as a country" don't do this type of thing anymore. There was no mention of who was president when the program was halted.
  10. "It's not torture."
  11. The real conversation should be about the treatment of women in the Middle East.
  12. The real conversation should be about North Korea.
  13. The real conversation should be about Russia.
  14. "All this does is having our enemies laughing at us."
  15. Obama just straight-up loves apologizing for America because of how much he hates America.
  16. "It's not about democracy now. No, no, It's about politics. It's about Democrats being so fundamentally lost as a party that they have to return to an old playbook."
  17. "The United States of America is awesome. We are awesome."
  18. "This Administration doesn't want to have this discussion not to show us how awesome we are. They wants to have it to show us that we're not awesome."

Totally takes you back, right? It was such a throwback segment that no one even mentioned #Benghazi. At one point, someone even mentioned Christina Aguilera.

What the Fox panelists didn't mention was that the report detailed former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage giving intentionally inaccurate briefings to foreign officials. In these briefings, he let it slip that President Bush didn't believe he himself was trustworthy enough to be told where America was forcibly rectally feeding prisoners, a significant portion of whom were only held there in the first place due to faulty intelligence.

None of that matters, however. America is under assault from within. Speaking of which, cue the War on Christmas in 3...2...1...

Both sides have had innocent people. People who didn't have anything to do with the the whole war but who have died in the process.

Yes, there are innocents on both sides.  However, there is a big difference between collateral deaths of innocent civilians........and directly targeting innocent civilians.  As always, just my opinion.   :peace:

I'm not even sure the U.S. government isn't directly targeting innocent civilians.

Obviously You think America is NOT awesome..It shows in your posts..Move someplace that is more tolerant and more awesome then.

I do think America is awesome, especially the part of the American continent where I live. The southern Caribbean. ;) The United States is awesome as well, but their banker controlled government leaves much to be desired.

I do pretty much agree with you on this Bandit.

When we use drones yes the target is neutralized but so is everybody else within a 75 yard radius.

Woman ,children, the old ,cows goats.   So everytime i read about these strikes I wonder how many enemies did we make that day .

That 11 year old that lived but his grandpappy didnt. He`s just not going to forget this happened nor are his kin. Nope this is no way to fight a war and

make no mistake we ARE at war. Our chicken shat leader King berry is creating enemies faster then we can kill them for petes sake.

We need a more hands on approach. Like our hands on our weapons and our finger on the trigger. We need to end this once and for all and go back to actually winning a war

cause this crap we are doing is not working. and along the way if some of the ENEMIES have to feel some discomfort or real honest to god pain.

Then so be it.  Let just cut all the political bullshat and lets

turn loose the dogs of war and end this crap .

Sorry if I dont sound politically correct today but Im suffering with a cold and Im a bit cranky and tired of all this whinning

Obama is only doing as his handlers tell him too, same as Bush, Clinton, etc...all bought and paid for puppets, just like front men for the Mob...they don't take a crap without being told...hitching about Obama is like getting mad at the megaphone for what the user is saying. When will people realize big biz, banking and the MIC make the decisions, not the sock-puppets.
