I have now been to the Global Arab Network website and clicked on Finance on the left hand side, then one the right hand side a Converter came up and I did as this post suggested. I went from USD to IQD and it came up 1=1; then I tried it the other way around, IDQ to USD and it came out 0.0009. So, that part is true.........but does that mean that it is really happening in Iraq? I would think that if it were, we would be hearing it from many sources. Why are there no big news flashes about this?????

I just went there and put in 500000 dinars and clicked on convert and it gave me $450

If you do not click on convert you get 1 to 1

I don't know, that's why I said this needs to be verified and re-verified. It is a good possibility because it's internal....I don't know...where is NETINFO when you need him to make a phone call to the global arab network, any other Arabian speaking peoples that can call?

It cannnot be inputted as 1 USD to 1 IQD it must be put in as 1 IQD to USD because you are converting to USD.

for example: 1 IQD= USD ?

I don't think this converter is accurate cause if you convert 1 once of gold the universal currancy (XAU) into USD it also states 1 to 1 and we all know gold is over $1200 per once.

I am not in any way, shape, or form disputing the information presented here and I have no opinion with regards to the boots on the ground information being reported by this poster. In fact I appreciate the post and thank the poster for this information for our consideration.

However. This particular currency converter on the Global Arab Network has been showing this very information for over 3 weeks. It was observed and discussed on another forum. As to the information shown on this converter site there has never been any confirmation or de-bunking of that information. My only contribution here is say that this has been a observed for a period of time and is not new information. The only consensus of opinion with regards to the converter was a speculation it was an error of some kind but even that was only a guess. But again it was observed by myself and other investors and I have no opinion as to the validity of the information.

What could be true is that it RV'd and it won't post until banks open and they open there first. Other than that, no way, no how its happening. It says that they are turning in their USD not IQD. But I agree with you, a currency pair can not and will not have that kind of spread in between them. If it did RVed in Iraq it will RV every where else on Monday. The fact that it is a weekend does not surprise me, that is how the central banks do their business so the people will have no resource and usually get screwed.

this could be true, since this is not a weekend for the Iraqi people they observe Sunday on Friday. also, this would be a good way to get the american dollar off the streets of Iraq and start using their own money vice american. Since most of the troops must be gone on 31 Aug. of this year.

Using the site you said shows a 1:1 ratio seems false to me.

I plugged in 25000 IDQ and the USD equiv is $21.39.
