New Iraq GOVERNMENT FAILS - OBAMA FOREIGN POLICY IN SHAMBLES

 Share

Recommended Posts

President Obama's cunning plan to 'quasi-ouster' Shiite PM Maliki, in the vague hopes that a more egalitarian all-inclusive Iraqi government could be formed that will magically lead the 'people' of the Sykes-Picot-defined nation to coalesce in sovereignty against The Islamic State has, somewhat understating it and perhaps unsurprisingly, hit a roadblock. As Bloomberg reports, Obama's effort to have Arabs take the lead in combating Islamic State suffered a setback when Sunni lawmakers quit talks on forming a new Iraqi government after Shiite gunmen killed scores of worshipers at a Sunni mosque. The killings in Diyala province derailed attempts to form an Iraqi government with bigger roles for Sunni Arabs and Kurds that would strengthen the fight against the terrorist group. It appears the common knowledge of who is friend and who is foe remains very much in the air.

This is not a roadblock. Jabouri left because of the mosque incident to be with his community in a time of mourning and need. He is not boycotting the formation of the new govt. He will be back. This is an opinion piece and nothing more.

correct.  They are pressing forward because if they DONT that whole country will fail and the PTB wont let that occur, there is way to much money to be made in Iraq to let them NOT form a government.  This is why washington is pushing hard for them and Abadi to get it done.  Be very weary of what you read from certain news agencies as well at this time. Also its a possibility Maliki could be behind this. Yes their are those that want to see Iraq fail and many many countries that want to see Iraq succeed Babylon indeed will bring wealth to ALL nations for it is written.

they are still holding sessions in parliament:  listen they know what is going on as soon as they start getting progress to form a government, someone or some party is trying to delay and cause confusion this is what they want. If Iraq wants to beat them they MUST press forward!!! or lose their country to ISIS which is a much bigger threat right now.

Good they need to see it with their eyes

You got to stay a step ahead of the terrorists , ya can't wait for them to show up on your door step

That's how Obama seems to be handling things

Preemptive strikes is what Maliki wanted he asked for help months before Isis showed up

i agree with many of you.  the players forming the new government already know that there are those would will fight against an inclusive solution.  it is expected.  there are radical shiite who say "heck no, sunni must go" as well as radical sunni who say "heck no, shiite must go".  this is not a mystery or surprising to any of those hoping to form an inclusive government.  they are pushing forward and i hope in the end tolerance will triumph hate.

May God have mercy on the Iraqis, and help them get the GOI together in a way that will bring a measure of solidarity and security to Iraq and its people. There are those who will sow division no matter what, but He can thwart their plans. Unfortunately, we have the same problem here in the USA...!  We need His help as well.

Agreed Idplzr... they/we don't even know for sure who did this. I'm sure he did leave to be with his community.

They will continue to press forward in getting the government together... even with this terrible setback...

If it was a Shiite militia then they need to be dealt with... PRONTO!!! (Maliki?) They've got to get IS out too!!!

Yea this is an opinion piece... (in the news section)
