My Experience of Living in Florence, Italy

My wife and I have both been honored and privileged to travel to Italy and Florence was one of our destinations. The young man in the clip is absolutely correct regarding American tourist. Many are embarrassing to say the least. It appears we are in too much of a hurry to enjoy the culture we are experiencing. If you want American culture, service and food, stay home and annoy your local restaurant staff. Americans do not have a very favorable impression in Europe and we wonder why? We are arrogant snobs. I have heard people talk about how rude the French people are but have they ever been to New York or Boston? You can bash me now!

Agree with what you say.. we are the microwave society.. gimme gimme fast.. we work like dogs too here.. :) I see the Italianos take their time to enjoy the company and food.. I have been to Florence and I enjoyed the wine break in the afternoon and watch people walking.  One thing I saw in Italy is that people walk and they stop to visit with a friend they see in the street.. no one is in a hurry :) and by the way, the pasta is good and different from the US.

I have always had a very strong affinity with all things Italian. Cant wait for the day that I can spend time traveling all of Italy.

Spending time with Italian chefs in their kitchens learning their secrets  (I too am a chef).

For now I am focusing on learning to speak the language which I think is beautiful.

Every excited , cant wait.

I was born and raised in Toronto. I was in my parents home town in Italy (near Bari) last year. I could get used to that pace I loved it. I felt right at home. Amazing the Italian I spoke as a kid came back. The food was amazing. Instead of bacon and eggs. It was fresh cheese, tomatos, crusty bread "cold cuts"  washed down wiith espresso. and pastries. I can't wait to go back.
