According to the House Committee on Natural Resources, the Obama administration has taken the unusual step of shutting down only the most popular tourist memorials in the nation’s capital, including the World War II Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and the National Mall. Other, lesser-visited sites, have been left open. “[T]he Obama Administration is applying this policy inconsistently and choosing which memorials to block off and which to keep open. While these popular monuments remain barricaded, other U.S. Park properties such as the Constitutional Gardens and Japanese Americans Memorial remain completely open,” the Committee said in a press release.

House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings stated, “It appears as though only the highly visible monuments and areas are being closed to the public – further proof that the Obama Administration is only playing politics and purposely choosing to make this shut down as painful as possible. Their actions are shameful and wrong.”

As a country boy, I always knew the game I was huntin' by the tracks they left and by their instinctive nature. Aint no suprise about any back door dealin's, low down motives or under handed deals. If it's got a bill, waddles, has webbed feet, feathers and quacks...my guess it's a duck... :bugs:

Well TexasGranny - if you were there to witness him sellecting which sites were to be closed down and which stayed open; why did you not speak out against it?

LOL

He is NOT responsible for the shutdown - the Republicans are! They still have not gotten over losing the battle against Obama Care and Big Business still does not like footing the bill for their workers health care.

I am 100% sure that there was not sellection of what sites would be closed or open based on popular sites. They were closed solely due to the funding for each site.

WOW

You guys take hate for Obama to a new level. :(

Well gymrat76541 - If you were there to witness that no selection was used in closing down only the popular sites why didn't you say something?

Obama can't be responsible for anything because he's totally irresponsible

The sites were closed down to make as much inconvenience and harm possible for the citizens of this country.

Some take the love of Obama to a level human understanding can't reach.  .

The WWII Memorial is closed but so was Normandy Beach when we got there.

The cowards, con-artist, lairs, and thieves need to be voted out of office.

We don't need term limits we need to put a new candidate in at every election.

We need to do away with the "Professional Politician" make it an "Amateur Post"

Jim Garrow

Dennis Michael Lynch the documentary film maker sends this in response to my question of whether the barricades have remained down or have they been set up again. Here is his answer:

Many private messages sent to me tonight. Let me be clear without fully saying it for Ob--- There are No more barriers at Memorial. If they go back up, I call my biker and trucker and veteran and Facebook and patriot friends. Case closed. It's been a long day. See you tomorrow God willing.

Without seeming to gloat. I must admit a certain satisfaction knowing that our immediate organizing to get 3 million bikers to DC on a moments notice was predicated first by the amazing work of Top Fuel Bill Anderson and Belinda Bee in organizing our first shot at it when the muslims tried to take hostage the 9/11 memorial celebrations. 1.3 million bikers responded and the rest is history. But don't think for one moment that this recent insult to our vets did not spur into action all those who attended our first ride and everyone else who had wanted to go as well. Bathhouse Barry had better mind his manners and learn his place. We gave him a great trust and right now we would replace him in a heartbeat. By taking down the barricades he just bought himself some time. And the next time he steps over the line of decency and respect for our vets we will be there again, ready to roll by the millions.

Thank you to every one who supports what the patriots of America so richly deserve, our undying gratitude and respect.

I adamantly and resolutely agree with you, that the responsibility of the “shutdown” of the U.S. government was a creation and or idea(s) of Republican/Tea Party.  I and the majority of the American public share the same opinion, that this is a Republican/Tea Party disaster for our country.

It was horrendous to watch on television a U.S. Representation (Republican/TX) blaming and admonishing a Park Ranger for not allowing the public into a park. What truly makes this incident between this park ranger and U.S. Representative  atrocious, was that "he" said, “she” should be ashamed that people were not be allowed in. This public servant probably makes an annual income of under $25,000, she absolutely have no power and was doing what she was told.

Babara, You could not be more delusional but there is an explanation.

The Affordable Care Tax?

The ACA legislation was approved by the Supreme Court to the extent monies could be extracted from the citizens by the congress through taxing but not fines.  They struck down the feds ability to withhold state medicade funding for not complying.

The House of Representatives is the branch of government that has the power to legislate taxation and the branch that dictates spending to protect the voice of the people.

As the ACA legislation has been transformed into a tax the implementation of that tax is totally at the discretion of the House of Representatives.

The Senate does not have authority to demand any legislation be funded or de-funded.

Our government is working the way it is designed to, so the President and Senate shutting it down is overreaching their authority and is not caused by the actions of the House.

Intimidation should be resisted in the branches overreaching their authority to keep the balance of power

that was foreseen in the design of our constitution.

The inability of Obama supporters to recognize the limits of his powers is attributed to the media manipulating the events and swaying the face of reality.

Senior Member with respect:

I am satisfied with the Supreme Court ruling and with the role of the House of Representative as it pertains to the Constitution.

As I recall, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was voted on by the people of the United States, because that is what the President ran on during his re-election campaign. The American people re-elected him by a wide margin, electoral and popular vote.

The ACA is the law of the land and is already funded. If, this is not true, why weren’t the personnel working for ACA furloughed or affected by the shut-down?  To my knowledge they were not affected.  They are presently and continuing to enroll people in the ACA.

In my opinion, as I follow the shutdown events, the shutdown was about ACA (aka Obamacare) and not about the people’s business of passing the budget.  Moreover, your position or point of dispute is that the President and Senate was demanding that ACA be funded is not valid.

Further, my comprehension is that the President and Senate would not allow the President “signature” program to be adulterated, given that this issue has been vetted by the Supreme Court and the American people. The Republicans/Tea Party (emphasis on Tea Party) did not like this, so Republicans/Tea Party decided, well we will punish the President and Senate by shutting down the government and make the American people “pay”.

Alternatively, your expression … Intimidation should be resisted in the branches overreaching their authority to keep the balance of power that was foreseen in the design of our constitution… has merit.

Finally, the inability of Republicans/Tea Party (emphasis on Tea Party) supporters to recognize the limits of the fringe group in the House’s power(s) is attributed to the ultra-conservative media manipulating and distorting event(s), truth and swaying negatively the face of real facts.

Your post is the most distorted post I have read on here in a long time in regards to real facts.

Its obvious you cannot see the truth through your fog of progressiveness and socialism.

We will stop this nonsense one way or another. A house divided cannot stand and taxation without representation cannot be tolerated by free men.

we will cast this yoke of tyranny from are shoulders and feed the tree of liberty to make it flourish once again.

Even if it demands feeding it the blood of true patriots.

and finally let me say barbara that I gladly negged you .

have a nice day respectively   :)

Is the Obama Admin. Trying to Make It Harder for Vets to Enter the WWII Memorial? (Warning: This Image May Make Your Blood Boil)

In a baffling move, seven National Park Service employees were reportedly seen “erecting and tending to a barricade around the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C.” on Friday, the Weekly Standard’s John McCormack reports.

A few hours later, it was realized that the barricades surrounding the World War II memorial had been reinforced with wiring to tie the fences together. McCormack claims the wiring was not there when he visited the memorial on Tuesday.

Why the Obama administration is reinforcing the barrier around the open air memorial wasn’t immediately clear.

Thankfully, World War II vets with an Honor Flight group, along with Democratic and Republican members of Congress, were reportedly able to move the barricades and enter the memorial on Friday.

McCormack still poses a good question: “Who is ordering the National Park Service to go to such great lengths to shut down the open-air World War II memorial that is usually unguarded?”

National Park Service spokeswoman told the Weekly Standard that the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) “sends everything down to all other departments. We are part of the Interior. Interior gives us our instructions.”

I ain't upset. Jus seemed silly for someone to blame the President for selecting certain sites to be closed. The Republicans in Congress are responsible for the shutdown.

The republicans in the house sent a bill to the senate funding everything except the ACA.  That funding included the national parks service.  Just telling lies don't make them true.

Where does it state in our constitution, that the President has authority to pick and choose who is required to follow the LAW?  What gives him the authority to exempt anyone from any law?  Isn't the highest priority of the President to UPHOLD the law?  Aren't we a nation of LAWS and not men?

Isn't this the most fundamental PRINCIPLE of our nation?  NO man/woman/corporation is above ANY of our LAWS!

The Constitution does not give the President/Congress/Supreme Court the right to pick and choose the law(s) he/she selects to follow.  The President is following the law.  The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is law.

There was nospecial” dispensation(s) made for the President and or The Affordable Care Act (ACA).  The ACA was voted on by Congress and passed, vetted by the Supreme Court and validated by the American people during the 2012 election.

You ask, who gives the President the right to exempt anyone from the law(s), and my response is there was no exemption(s).  The ACA is law.  You further ask … Isn't the highest priority of the President to UPHOLD the law and aren't we a nation of LAWS and not men…, and my steadfast response is yes!   Moreover, the President is “upholding” the law, because we are a nation of laws. Police Force Veterans from Vietnam Memorial

The Obama administration continue their dirty political tricks and we are more than happy to expose them. Today, DC Police were ordered to remove tourists and Vietnam War veterans who were visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Friday.

The Weekly Standard reports:

After one group of veterans went around the barricade, "the park ranger told them the wall was closed, "
. "Later another group of vets showed up and moved the barricades. At that point, the memorial filled with vets and tourists. That's when police came and moved everyone out."

The
is a black granite outdoor wall on which the names of the 58,272 service members who died or were unaccounted for during the Vietnam war are inscribed.

It takes more manpower and costs the government more money to close down an outdoor wall than to let people walk past it and pay their respects.

vietnam+memorial-300x168.jpgYou'll recall that World War II veterans broke through barriers to enter the open air World War II Memorial.

It seems that Barack Obama is merely playing political games with the memory of our veterans. It is shameful! It is a disgrace! It demonstrates the real underlying nature and heart of this man. He is no president. He is a usurper, a godless usurper. He cares nothing for America or those who have served her faithfully.

A memorial that requires absolutely no security is now being given special security, in what we are told is a government shutdown. As John McCormack commented, "It takes more manpower and costs the government more money to close down an outdoor wall than to let people walk past it and pay their respects."

That's just it though, isn't it? Obama's actions aren't about what is frugal or best for the American people. It's about how bad he can make things look for political gain. I'm guessing there are plenty of Vietnam veterans with some fight still left in them to take on the Marxist-in-chief. After all, Barack Obama represents everything those WWII veterans and the Vietnam veterans fought against

Like the hundreds of World War II veterans who came to National Mall to pay their respects this week, a group of Vietnam veterans found a barricade blocking the way to their memorial Friday. News4's Mark Segraves said two U.S. Park Service Rangers manning the gate asked that the group respect the government's shutdown but moved aside.

Segraves described the exchange as pleasant and respectful.

The veterans then moved the barricade and walked down to the wall to pay their respects. But a flood of tourists followed even though the memorial is closed to the general public.

"The consensus among the group of Vietnam veterans was we're going to go anyway. We'll go through the barricade," North Carolina resident Reid Mendenhall said.

U.S. Park Police arrive to the scene, asked everyone to leave and put the barricade back into place.

Congressman Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) told this US Park Service Ranger and told her that the USPS should be ashamed of themselves for turning the veterans away. Neugebauer's comments came on Wednesday regarding the WWII Memorial, but I think the same thing applies to the Vietnam Memorial as well.

The thing about this is, as I've pointed out before, under the government shutdown during the 1990's, not one of these memorials was closed. This is not only political friends, this is personal, and Barack Obama is shoving the noses of our veterans in it. Even worse, as John DeMayo points out, behind the scenes Obama and his thugs are inciting government employees against the people. What will our next course of action be?
