The State of Illinois. Think about this.

Some interesting data on the 'state' of Illinois...  There are more people 
on welfare in Illinois than there are people working. Chicago pays the 
highest wages to teachers than anywhere else in the U.S. averaging 
$110,000/year. Their pensions average 80-90% of their income. Wow, are 
Illinois and Chicago great or what? Be sure to read till the end. I've 
never heard it explained better. Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of 
Chicago?  Body count: In the last six months, 292 killed (murdered) in 
Chicago.   221 killed in Iraq; AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun 
laws in the entire US.

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.  Can't blame
Republicans; there aren't any! 

State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country.  Can't blame 
Republicans; there aren't any! 

Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. Can't blame
Republicans; there aren't any! 

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he is 
going to 'fix' Washington politics for us? 

George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in the prison. 
He was replaced by Rob Blajegovitch who is that's right, also in the 
prison. 

And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago, 
because he is fighting to not be sent to...that's right, prison. 

The Land of Lincoln, where our governors make our license plates. 

But you know what? 

As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago, 
nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the 
country does. 

"Anybody who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the 
Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American 
Indian." 

Don¹t forget Detroit another good example.

but the second is absolutely astounding -- and explains a lot! 

A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very interesting 
statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health 
Organization. 

Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after 
diagnosis: 
           U.S.                      65% 
           England                46% 
           Canada                 42% 

Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received treatment
within six months: 
           U.S.                      93% 
           England                15% 
           Canada                 43% 

Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it within six 
months: 
           U.S.                      90% 
           England                15% 
           Canada                 43% 

Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within one month: 
           U.S.                      77% 
           England                40% 
           Canada                 43% 

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million people: 
           U.S.                       71 
           England                 14 
           Canada                  18 

Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are in 
"excellent health": 
           U.S.                     12% 
           England                2% 
           Canada                 6% 

And now for the last statistic: 
          National Health Insurance? 
           U.S.                     NO 
           England               YES 
           Canada                YES 

  And check this last set of statistics!!

The percentage of each past president's cabinet who had worked in the
private business sector prior to their appointment to the cabinet..... 
You know what the private business sector is.  A real-life business, not a 
Government job.  Here are the percentages:

This helps to explain the incompetence of this administration: only 8% of 
them have ever worked in private business! 

That's right!  Only eight percent -- the least, by far, of the last 19
presidents!  And these people are trying to tell our big Corporations how 
to run their business? 

How can the president of a major nation and society, the one with the most 
unsuccessful economic system in world history, stand and talk about business 
when he's never worked for one?  Or about jobs when he has never really
had one?  And when it's the same for 92% of his senior staff and closest
advisers? 

They've spent most of their time in academia, Government and/or non-profit 
jobs or as "community organizers."  They should have been in an employment 
line. 

Pass this on because we'll NEVER see these facts in the mainstream media.

Does anybody remember three-term Republican Senator Everett Dirksen (1951-1969) who helped write the Civil Rights Act of 1964? Just wondering? Brings back memories of when the Republican Party was somewhat sane & TRULY patriotic.

Don't forget though...if you go to the southernmost tip of Illinois you'll be in the wonderful little town of Metropolis. There you''ll find Superman living on a street called Lois Lane. The local paper is called The Planet. That's where you can go for "heroic help" (look all this up if you think I'm jivin").

Hey Umbertino, no I don't find the stats for the UK credible at all.

 

obviously there is going to be a percentage of people that dont get the best care available, weather thats down to a specific hospital being understaffed or overcrowded or whatever.

 

For me I rarely have to visit my GP or go to hospital ...... maybe 3 or 4 times in the past 10 years.

 

but after saying that anytime I did i was seen straight away, and it was all free. the last time I had to visit the emergency room was last Christmas,  I was taking out the bin's and slipped on some ice, landed on my wrist and thought I broke it. Now this was a Saturday night which is statistically the busiest night of any week for all A&E departments. I called over to the hospital was seen within 5 mins by a doctor , straight to x-ray, results in 15mins, bandaged up given some pain killers and sent home ...... it wasn't broken.

 

what more can I say .... if I want to go to my GP it's free, if he gives me a prescription and I take it to a chemist it's free, if I go to hospital it's free ..... hell if I want to go to my dentist ..... guess what it's free.

 

Now I dont know what it's like for people with major illnesses but I can only imagine they would get higher priority than me ...... and i've always been impressed with the service i've received. maybe it's just the hospitals in Scotland that are good,I dunno never been in a hospital in England.

We kill thousands of children a year unborn or sometimes born dont matter to us

We threaten children for playing cops and robbers.

We allow inner city violence to go unregulated to the point where its unsafe for people to walk after dark.

We allow our boarders to be crossed by illegal immigrants who are part of a drug cartel and have entered the country to do harm to its citizens

We have allowed our military to deteriorate to the point we are no longer the super power we once were.

We have neglected our vets who have served this country bravely.

We have lowered the standards of our education to the point that the first four years of college is basicly what they should have already learned in high school.  

We have allowed the unions to grow to the point it cost $20 to make a $3 product.

We have raped the medicare fund and allowed the money to be spent on a foolhardy health care plan that has pretty much proven that it can not work.

We have thrown the word of god to wayside and do not want it in schools or anywhere where someone may become offend by the sight of a cross

 

The list goes on and on and on Professor.

Yes you Progressives have certainly out done yourselves
