Are you a conservative, a libertarian, a Christian or a gun owner?  Are you opposed to abortion, globalism, Communism, illegal immigration, the United Nations or the New World Order?  Do you believe in conspiracy theories, do you believe that we are living in the “end times” or do you ever visit alternative news websites (such as this one)?  If you answered yes to any of those questions, you are a “potential terrorist” according to official U.S. government documents.  At one time, the term “terrorist” was used very narrowly.  The government applied that label to people like Osama bin Laden and other Islamic jihadists.  But now the Obama administration is removing all references to Islam from terror training materials, and instead the term “terrorist” is being applied to large groups of American citizens.  And if you are a “terrorist”, that means that you have no rights and the government can treat you just like it treats the terrorists that are being held at Guantanamo Bay.  So if you belong to a group of people that is now being referred to as “potential terrorists”, please don’t take it as a joke.  The first step to persecuting any group of people is to demonize them.  And right now large groups of peaceful, law-abiding citizens are being ruthlessly demonized.

Below is a list of 72 types of Americans that are considered to be “extremists” and “potential terrorists” in official U.S. government documents.  To see the original source document for each point, just click on the link.  As you can see, this list covers most of the country…

72. Evangelical Christians

The groups of people in the list above are considered “problems” that need to be dealt with.  In some of the documents referenced above, members of the military are specifically warned not to have anything to do with such groups.

We are moving into a very dangerous time in American history.  You can now be considered a “potential terrorist” just because of your religious or political beliefs.  Free speech is becoming a thing of the past, and we are rapidly becoming an Orwellian society that is the exact opposite of what our founding fathers intended.

Please pray for the United States of America.  We definitely need it.

I'm proud to say, I fit almost all of the defined above. That's what makes me an American. These Communist Progressives devils that have taken over will never cause me to change who I am. If you are a coward that hides from who you are, don't call yourself an American, because you are not. Those that partake in this administration, be it the NSA, FBI, CIA or any other department are made up of American's, hopefully and they should help bring this Communist regime down. Stand up, be loud, be proud, don't cowar to this pieces of shet. Those that would cause harm to Americans because of this criminal regime, have no place in America.

The IRS is now targeting American Legions, VFW's and other Veterans' Orgs and demanding they keep detailed records of all their members.

They want names, branch of service, dates of service, address, tel nos., other affiliations through the Vet Org, activities they engage in with the Vet Orgs, etc, etc, etc....

This is PERSONAL and the IRS has NO NEED for this information !

If they think they are going to get away with this, they're barking up the wrong tree !

hobummer wants to deny every Patriot, Veteran, Tea Party, Independent, Right Wing, et al org the benefit

of being Tax Exempt.

he is cutting it all off in order to re-direct monies to his own pet projects.....  Gee, can't wait to hear how much

money he's going to tell US he "saved" US by doing this to Veterans & Patriots.....

this guy said - in his own words - "we will punish our enemies"....

Looks like it's game on and he's doing just that.

This guy is a HATER.

Every day we are watching our civil liberties being taken away from us by our government. To me that is not nearly as troubling as the God givin rights that have systematically been eliminated. We as a nation need to go back to the fundemental principles our nation was built on.

God Less America!!

I know I'm a huge target, I put my faith in God, not government.

The  latest  revelation  of  the  extent  of  the unconstitutional  surveillance  of  Americans  by  the  NSA  is  simply  the logical  conclusion  to  a  process  that  lawmakers  began  over  a  decade  ago.  In  the  wake  of  9/11  the  United  States  Congress  passed  and  then-president  George  W  Bush  signed  into  law  the  Patriot  Act.  A  knee-jerk  reaction  to  an  unprecedented  act  of  terrorism  on  American  soil  that  provided  the  façade  of  security  but  resulted  in  something  else  differently. The  Act  broadened   the  definition  of  ‘terrorist’,  increased  the  amount  of  intelligence  law  agencies  were  allowed  to  collect,  expanded  the  powers  of  immigration  agents  and  law  officials  to  detain  and  deport  immigrants  suspected  of  terrorist  acts  and  granted  greater  authority  to  the  Secretary  of  the  Treasury  to  regulate  financial  transactions.More  specifically  section  215  of  the  Act  allows  for  the  FBI  to  obtain  any  “tangible  things”  from  a  person  or  entity  that  they  deem  relevant  to  the  pursuit  of  terrorists  without  the  need  to  prove  probable  cause  or  reasonable  grounds  for  suspicion.  And  so  began  the  slow  erosion  of  civil  liberties  in  a  country  that  prides  itself  as  being  the  land  of  the  free.

It  was  only  inevitable  that  under  these  circumstances  that  the  NSA  or  another  agency  were  bound  to  overstep   its  legal  authority  especially  when  the  definition  for  what  is  relevant  is  left  up  to  the  agency  to  define. “The  relevant  standard  was  intended  to  limit  what  NSA  could  do.  They  took  the  position  that  it  expanded   it.  And  that  tips  the  common  sense  definition  of  relevance  on  its  head,”  said  Republican  congressman  Jim  Sensenbrenner,  a  key  author  of  the  Patriot  Act.

Lets Review:

Section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act (Pub. L. No. 107-52) expanded the definition of terrorism to cover ""domestic,"" as opposed to international, terrorism.   A person engages in domestic terrorism if they do an act ""dangerous to human life"" that is a violation of the criminal laws of a state or the United States, if the act appears to be intended to:  (i) intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping.  Additionally, the acts have to occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States and if they do not, may be regarded as international terrorism.

Seizure of assets - Sec. 806:  Section 806 of the Act could result in the civil seizure of  assets without a prior hearing, and without  ever being convicted of a crime. It is by far the most significant change of which political organizations need to be aware.  Section 806 amended the civil asset forfeiture statute to authorize the government to seize and forfeit:  all assets, foreign or domestic (i) of any individual, entity, or organization engaged in planning or perpetrating any act of domestic or international terrorism against the United States, or their property, and all assets, foreign or domestic, affording any person a source of influence over any such entity or organization or (ii) acquired or maintained by any person with the intent and for the purpose of supporting, planning, conducting, or concealing an act of domestic or international terrorism against the United States, citizens or residents of the United States or their property or (iii) derived from, involved in, or used or intended to be used to commit any act of domestic or international terrorism against the United States, citizens or residents of the United States, or their property.

This language is broad enough to authorize the government to seize any assets of any individuals involved in any protest or of any organization supporting the protests of which the person is a member, or from any individuals who were supporting the protesters in any way.

The civil asset forfeiture power of the United States government is awesome.  The government can seize and/or freeze the assets on the mere assertion that there is probable cause to believe that the assets were involved in domestic terrorism.  The assets are seized before a person is given a hearing, and often without notice.  In order to permanently forfeit the assets, the government must go before a court, but at a civil hearing, and the government is only required to prove that the assets were involved in terrorism by a preponderance of the evidence.  Because it is a civil proceeding, a person is not entitled to be represented by an attorney at public expense if they cannot afford to pay an attorney.  The time between seizure and forfeiture can sometimes be months; meanwhile, organizations or individuals whose assets are seized are forced to make do without the assets.  Only the most financially flush non-profit organizations would be able to successfully defend themselves against government forfeiture.  In short, without the full due process afforded in criminal cases, the U.S. government can bankrupt political organizations or people it asserts are involved in domestic terrorism.

Disclosure of educational records - Sec. 507:  This provision of the USA PATRIOT Act requires a judge to issue an order permitting the government to obtain private educational records if the Attorney General or his designee certifies that the records are necessary for investigating domestic or international terrorism.  No independent judicial finding is required to verify that the records are relevant.  This means that the Attorney General may obtain the private educational records of a student involved in the Vieques protests by asserting that the records are relevant to a domestic terrorism investigation.  These records may include information such as a student's grades, private medical information (counseling, abortions), which organizations the student belonged to, or any other information that the educational institution collects about its students.

Disclosure of information from National Education Statistics Act - Sec. 508:  This provision of the USA PATRIOT Act requires a judge to issue an order for the government to obtain educational records that have been collected pursuant to the National Education Statistics Act.  NESA includes a vast amount of identifiable student information from academic performance to health information, family income, and race. Until now, this information has been held to strict confidentiality requirements without exception.  Again, all the government needs to certify is that the information is relevant to a terrorism investigation and the court has no choice but to issue the order.

Single-Jurisdiction Search Warrants (Sec. 219):  This section of the USA PATRIOT Act amends Rule 41(a) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure to authorize the government to go before a singe Federal magistrate judge in any judicial district in which activities relating to the terrorism may have occurred, to obtain a warrant to search property or a person within or outside the district.   This means that the government could go to a single judge to get a warrant to search the property or person of the Vieques activists in New York, Chicago, California, or wherever else the protesters were from.  If the government chose to go before a magistrate in New York, a person in California, who wished to seek to have the warrant quashed because he or she believed it was invalid, would have to find a way to appear before the New York court that issued the warrant.  This would be a daunting task for most.

Post-PATRIOT Act Laws

Since passage of the PATRIOT Act, two other new laws have passed that implicate domestic terrorism.

Taxpayer Information - 26 U.S.C.A. Sec. 6103(i)(3)© requires the Secretary of the Internal Revenue Service to provide taxpayer information to the appropriate Federal law enforcement agency responsible for investigating or responding to the terrorist incident.  If abused, this provision could be used by law enforcement to gain access to confidential taxpayer information of political protesters.

Regulation of biological agents and toxins - 42 U.S.C.A. Sec. 262a and 7 U.S.C.A. Sec. 8401 regulate biological agents and toxins.  If a person is involved with an organization that engages in domestic or international terrorism, he or she is not permitted to gain access to these regulated agents. Under the law, the Attorney General identifies individuals involved in ""terrorism"" to the Department of Agriculture.  Once the person is listed, he or she cannot get access to any of the regulated agents or toxins.  This provision will probably not impact most people, however, it might impact someone such as a scientist who might regularly use biological agents or toxins in their work.

Now that ya'll have been identified, you have some idea as to how far this can go, except, this is actually only the beginning.  Wait till ya read the part about being detained for the rest of your life without being arrested, or given benefit of counsel.

The administration of both parties are responsible for this. I'd suggest we stop the meaningless banter as to who is the bigger villain and come together in one voice demanding this law be repealed. In no way would I suggest that some legislation is not needed, but this is so far out of hand and too far reaching and needs to be trashed. We need to start over in this genre.

Thanks for the documents. Interesting reading. What I found following the links, however, is the military's and government's concern over those who either join 'violent' groups, are sympathetic to them or promote them. In other words, it 'seems' that one's constitutional rights are still protected as long as one does not cross those lines. All bets are off afterwards.

Am I wrong?
