Is there any place that we've gone into,

done a little butt-kicking, and not ended

up with a permanent base or two?

I'm not talking about the quick little

covert things that nobody

knows about.

I'm talking about long-term, butt-kicking

situations.

Khandan - The newspaper "Al Qabas" of Kuwait, the Iraqi sources, well-informed revealed "that Iraq and the United States putting the finishing touches on completion of an agreement between the two requires the establishment of a U.S. military base in Iraq." and according to the same sources, the U.S. military base, "will contribute to addressing for organizations (al Qaeda), which is growing activity in parts of Iraq, while showing that the security services and the Iraqi military's inability to cope with the escalation of this activity and the expansion of terrorist operations. I believe that was the plan from day one, a permanent base smack dab in the middle east. JMO

I agree.  I think this is exactly what the U.S. wants.

Mr. Parrott, it concerns me to have our troops there, but maybe it will be safer than going back later for another war.

Mr. Parrott, it concerns me to have our troops there, but maybe it will be safer than going back later for another war.

Camp Arifjan with 9000+ troop capacity already exists in Kuwait.  Three other support bases have been established in the Udari desert (Kuwait) near the Iraq border.  Obviously with the uptick of insurgent activity in Iraq and, with the Iranian flyovers to Syria our presence in Iraq is, unfortunately, necessary. However, had Vice President Biden initially closed the SOFA agreement with the GOI prior to our combat troops leaving, then the growing insurgency and Iranian probes would have been minimized.  In essence, the situation would not have developed into the cluster coitus it now resembles.  Additionally, the Arab world may not particularly care about Israel, but led and influenced by the Saudi's, they do care about Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Oman, Kuwait and Iraq. There is an active push-back by the Saudis (Sunnis) against Iran (Shia) by developing a quite coalition of support for Iraq even though Iraq is thought to be 60% Shia.  Iraq, in the Saudis eyes, is the alley behind the backyard fence separating that trashy house (Iran) from influencing and infecting the pure Arab Muslim.

While it looks precarious at times, I don't think Iraq is going to fall without all of the Middle East preceding it.  After establishing security, the financial floodgates will open and the Iraqi Dinar will be able to play at the big boys table while Iran is begging for Russian scraps.  :salute:

said told him the Information Office of the coalition: "The American occupation, which perch on the issuance of Iraqis for ten years, was the direct cause of the security chaos and instability and the confiscation of the will of the Iraqi people, have left this occupation obnoxious is مأسوف him and regained Iraq's national sovereignty and its rightful place in the region and the world. "

He added: "If the pretext of the establishment of U.S. bases in Iraq are fighting terrorism, Iraqis are able to the face of this onslaught and steadfastness in the face regardless of the brutality, and the coming days will prove to all the Iraqis' ability to face all the challenges without the use of any foreign troops. "

He Jubouri: "The Americans are very wrong as if they think they may be able to return to Iraq under the pretext of installation security and the eradication of terrorism, Iraqis have become more aware of the fact that the great conspiracy that exposed Iraq, has known who is friend and who is the real enemy, and will not accept in any way repeating the scenario of American hegemony over their will and will not يفرطوا the sovereignty of Iraq no matter escalated pressure. "

mentions A number of newspapers quoted Iraqi sources last Thursday for the determination of the U.S. government to set up a base on Iraqi soil to counter al-Qaeda.
