more than likely because of the stroke, he could be incontinent, which would means he would need a Foley catheter, and that would make him very prone to bladder infections.

This could be very easily solved by having the man say hello to all his followers on a video or even have him smile a crooked smile for a picture.  Just make it an up to date one, not some crummy picture from 2 years ago.  Me thinks he's dead.

I would agree.  I think Talabani is still in the house, just not living there if you know what I mean.  So technically he is alive, but mentally and physically probably not.

He has to be alive and it's obvious that he is not able to perform his duties.  Brain dead or something.  He hasn't made any appearances.   They have shown him in numerous photos, all old ones except one about 3 months ago.  But not close up.  He wasn't jolly as he usually is.  Don't know their reason for not replacing him, because they could and that president could take out the problem without parliaments vote.  I.e. maliki............but again, maliki has some real rough supports (al-qeada, hezbolla, etc etc)  so they may be trying to make a peaceful transfer by fair elections.

Yep.   If they don't watch out he will get septic.  I believe they are keepin' his body alive until after the elections and they have a more stabilized govt (power sharing) in place so as not to further incite existing tensions.

Basically, I believe Talibani is "dead", he may not actually be dead, but he is out of the picture. Whether he is coherent, physically functional and able to function in any sort of capacity after his stroke, he is out. He is politically dead. I really think they need to have early elections and get this government going in Iraq. JMHO
