new york kevin
Its about time. Though it seems like very short sentences for their crimes against the state. Not much of a deterent there. Any fines assessed against the guilty, if only to prevent them from financially benefitting from their crimes? You wouldn't want those who criminally take advantage of their position in government to be of the mind set that a 6 months sentence is the cost of doing business when stealing millions. TBomb
Not sure about this yet. Maliki has been asked to seat the government. Turki has held two roles..one as the Supreme Auditor and one, as we know, as the head of the CBI...illegal according to the rules of the CBI and the constitution. I don't like this. We saw this last year with Shabbs and then no RV. Hopefully pro RV people are controlling this, if true. Iraq does have obligations to repay now out of Ch 7. TotalNewb
Malikis guy, Turki is out and shabibis guy could be in. I see this as clearing g the path at the CBI and one more step closer to dissolving Malikis reign once and for all.

TBomb
Reporting in...it's about 9am Baghdad time...I've searched all of the major news portals for Iraq (the news sites that pull in articles from all over the web) as well as the cbi..I cannot find one article about Turki being fired. Hopefully no one else does either. Also, I cannot find anything about this which is new on the issuing site IPA. Also, oddly, Alsabbah has not printed anything new since the 7th. Maybe they won't because of Eid. Something's fishy.

Total...I hope you're right and we're seeing a cleaning of house going on here. So many articles against Maliki's reign in the past few days. That's right, remember Monday morning Maliki was in jail. Then Tuesday Biden's given him a call telling him how the green zone is a possible Terror target. Don't think I'll ever be able to trust any news again. Butifldrm
Does anyone think it strange that everytime we see the CBI close to making a move on currency reform, or pressure upon the CBI to move forward. "BOOM" there's an attack on the CBI? IMO, maybe Tuki has not moved forward with currency reform fast enough. We see Parliamentry Economist pushing forward with the Banking Act whcih will allow international banks to move into Iraqi markets with protection. WE see the IMF putting pressure on Iraq to pick their exchangge rate regime. I do agree we need to keep an eye on this.
Catluver67
Morning Buti : ) No doubt there is a pattern here...unreal! I haven't seen a whirlwind of news like there was when Shabs was booted so I'm still hoping it's just crap...sure doesn't sound good tho and definitely fits Maliki's MO...
