Monday,29 April 2013 08:59 Twilight News / expectation senior official of the Kuwaiti government, on Monday, Iraq would emerge from Chapter VII early next year, stressing that Kuwait has sought since 2003 to improve the image of the Iraqi people. Said Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak said in remarks seen by "Twilight News", "expect to come out of Iraq under the threat of sanctions imposed on it in accordance with Chapter VII, starting next year." He explained that "Kuwait, the leadership, government and people, carrying Iraq's good intentions and wishes him prosperity and stability; because it will reflect on Kuwait." He stressed that "Kuwait has expanded since 2003 and since the change of regime in Iraq, concrete steps and information, to improve the image of Kuwait to the Iraqi people and vice versa .. In addition to the close cooperation with the international institutions that govern some relationship between the two parties." It is noteworthy that Iraq is subject since 1990 to Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, which imposed after the invasion of the regime of former President Saddam Hussein of Kuwait in August of the same year, and this item allows the use of force against Iraq as a threat to international security, in addition to large amounts of frozen its assets in the financial global banks to pay compensation to those affected by the invasion. The Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations have recently made progress in relation to resolve some of the outstanding problems, as the parties agreed to settle many of the files, including the demarcation of the border and the debt of Iraqi Airways to the State of Kuwait. zigmeister
Sigh... are we still on the thinking that ch 7 is the key to an instant overnight RV? I don't think we see anything as the key to an overnight RV. We can hope Kuwait is referring to next year as in this year. More importantly is the HCL, if they can come to agreement and take care of this, Chapter 7 might happen much quicker. Still to pin our hopes on these matters for an RV is self defeating, in that if they pass and nothing happens we will be disappointed. What we pay attention to imo is what the CBI is doing, this is where the egg is hatched, no where else.
KiaKaha
Shows todays date & then talks about NEXT(2014 ) YEAR. But as LIB said above, to Iraq, "next" anything is "the coming" thing... next week is this week, next month is this month etc. KK

Nelson0528
Please don't neg me; but... maybe this makes sense... Iraq (CBI, MoF) saying they are not ready to rebase the currency until next year (due to printing the new currency which has not been authorized yet, banks are still not ready to function internationally yet, no GOI, no stability or security), still haven't seated a government, claims of election fraud already running rampant, no HCL, still no census... will the DFI be extended?.. no REAL evidence to support that it won't yet... especially since they are not very close to having a functioning GOI all of these things take time, and we are almost to the halfway point this year already. Many articles have been placing significant change coming for 2014... I don't know... but, it sure seems to me that we could potentially still be a ways off from the finish line... I hope it comes soon; but, it just seems no one is really in a rush to get anything done with the last few sticking points in the process... anyone else think this is a possibility?... Respectfully seeking your thoughts... NOT "Red Arrows"... Cheers all! Edited April 30, 2013 by Nelson0528

Hmm I like the sound of it. let's hope this year will be our last ride. So many of us have hit hard/harder times, we really do need it to be this year. That said, even if it isn't, I for one am hoping til 31 December that it happens! Then I'll hold on to the hope that it'll be "this year of 2014"!
