Dear Conservative

I'm a liberal, a progressive, some would even call me a socialist. And I don't stay awake at night thinking of ways to take your freedom.

I don't stay awake planning a war on Christmas. Or Easter, either.

I don't stay awake thinking of ways to give your money to lazy people.

I don't stay awake plotting how to ruin families.

I don't stay awake thinking of how to drive the country into bankruptcy.

I don't stay awake scheming how to corrupt the morality of college students.

I don't stay awake plotting to be a traitor.

I don't stay awake thinking about how to kill babies.

I don't stay awake planning to ban your religion.

I don't stay awake conspiring with terrorists and foreigners.

No, I celebrate Christmas, Easter, and many other holidays, just like you.

And I want people to get a helping hand through welfare when they need it. I also want to stop giving your money to the laziest of all, the idle rich. Why don't you?

And I want families to be strong and healthy — which means I recognize there are many different legitimate family structures, and they deserve public support.

And I understand that a public budget is not like an individual one, so running deficits to pump up the economy is good policy, and budget austerity is not only bad policy but cruel (and by the way, conservatives have a terrible debt record, despite popular perceptions.)

And I want people to have as much education as possible — which doesn't make them less moral, but it often does make them less conservative, unfortunately for you.

And don't question my patriotism — I served my country in uniform, as have many liberals and progressives.

And a zygote or an early-pregnancy fetus is not a person; my conviction is that a woman's right to control her own body takes precedence over an entity that is not sentient. That doesn't make me a baby killer.

And like every liberal or progressive I know, I believe in your freedom to worship as you choose — but the separation of church and state means that your religion doesn't get special privileges, even if you really, really believe it should.

And while I think the "war" on terror is a stupid strategy — fighting terrorism is really a type of policing — I am a public servant with fourteen years of intelligence and security experience.

In short, I care about the public good as much as you do, and about freedom too.

I do sometimes stay awake at night. But not for any reason you might think.

I stay awake worried about climate change, which is real and already happening and will ruin civilization if we don't change our ways.

I stay awake worried about how vote suppression undermines the right to vote, without which democracy is not possible and authoritarianism sets in.

I stay awake worried that the power of money has systematically corrupted and broken our political system.

I stay awake thinking about how much better life is in countries with stronger welfare states that protect the well-being, health, and development of regular people.

I stay awake anxious about how anti-intellectualism, a disrespect of education, and downright willful ignorance has gripped large parts of our population. A willfully stupid people is a doomed people.

I stay awake terrified that at some point, people like you will impose a theocracy on America, whether de jure or de facto.

I stay awake angry and frustrated at the power that corporations have both in politics and in the economy.

And I stay awake thinking about ways that we could fix all this, and many other problems too. That means opposing bad political principles and bad policy ideas — and that means opposing you, because after long study and experience I've concluded that conservative ideas are generally really bad ones. But that only means we disagree, it doesn't make me the enemy.

I am a Conservative, not a Republican or Democrat.

 

I stay awake wondering how Liberals can be so hypocritical of Conservatives yet fail to see their own discrimination! How can they glorify diversity and yet claim that my way is wrong? How can they celebrate Islam, who kills homosexuals, when Christians love people, just not the ways of some people?

 

I am glad the poorest in America are still better off than the middle class in most countries.

 

I pray that families can start to think for themselves again instead of expecting the government to take care of them.

 

I have a brain and can read the history of other 'socialist' countries, read the book 'Rules for Radicals', know what George Soros has done in the past to bring down economies, and know what 'Barry' studied in college. I aint stupid jus cuz i from the south!

 

I listen to people who have gone through Ivy League Colleges, and can take their word for it that Professors are taking morality out of our students minds and replacing it with the 'it's all about me' factor.

 

I don't consider you a traitor, just uninformed, idealistic, and very judgemental of people like me.

 

I do stay awake wondering how more black babies are aborted in NY than are born per year. Margarette Sanger was racist and Dr. Gossett needs to be convicted of murder.

 

I do stay awake praying for my religious freedoms because it does state Freedom OF Religion not FROM religion. We do not imprison non belivers here, as they do in Muslim countries. We just want the freedom God and the Founders gave us to be able to present the Word everywhere, whether you believe it or not is your choice.

 

Look over the next one again...as we contemplate what happened to the 'Arab Nationalist' who was arrested, no, not arrested, but is being sent out of the country due to terroist possibilities.....

 

I will let you celebrate Liberalism, Earthday, what ever you chose, just let me be a practicing Christian with ALL my rights I had 250 years ago....

 

I donate through my own deeds and my Church to help the needy. What is a family? Why has it been restructured? FDR is the one who stated that a mother not need a husband to raise a child...were families perfect before that? Study history, I dare you to watch Runaway Slave Movie and dispute what Dems have done to the black family structure. I don't dispute that Homosexuals can love a child, but having a Father/Mother dynamic is the best in every situation.

 

Public Budget? (I have gotten out of the sleep thing, lets just get real) So, you think Hollywood, Buffett, Soros, Gates, any politician who has been in the game 10 plus years...any of them think the government can spend their money better on poor causes? If so, then why don't they all skip the deductions and do that 'give what you want' clause...I think not. Everyone knows the government wastes more money than they do good with, after lining politicians' pockets, there just isn't much left!

 

Education....Public education is what you put into it, plus the time it takes to sift through the indoctrination. Private schools are where kids get the education, but liberals don't like the school choice option, the TEA lobbyists may lose funding! How can you justify what is spent on administration vs each child in public education?

 

Patriotism? Sgt Nadal Hasan claims to have patriotism, served in the Army and still managed to kill 12 and wound 31 in a "workplace violence" case on Ft Hood. ?????

 

An 'early pregnancy fetus' IS a child, just ask the Bald Eagle if her 'early laid egg' is protected by the endangered species act. It is your choice to not believe, but it is a life whether you like it or not. It is the right of the child to be brought in to this world. Answer that one with God, it is just my opinion.....didn't you say you celebrate Christmas?

 

Separation of Church and State...all I can say is Read History, not some professors' book on how Jefferson really didn't believe...He wrote his own Bible to be distributed to schools and families, knowing that a country without God would be doomed. All they were against was the Government formed religion, ie Church of England which became corrupt just like our politicians are currently!

 

War on Terror, war on drugs, war on .... lets just say both sides have created a lot in order to take away our freedoms. There is always a reason for things to happen, it just depends on who corrupts the system. Labor Unions started out good, now they are terrorist, Republicans started the Education and Entergy Departments, and now they are corrupted, Republicans started the Civil Rights movement, and Dems took it over and blasted the 'elite whites' in order to gain more control. Even our own endeavor in the Dinar has alterior motives, don't you think? Now, look at true terrorist vs the people of the US, who intends harm on the other?

 

If you cared about Freedom, you wouldn't think like you do, period. You care about Liberalism, feeling good about yourself, not letting people be free to chose for themselves. Don't bring the choice of abortion in this one...you have the choice of the child, choice of the parents of the 15 yoa who the school won't tell, choice of the 15 yoa to know that the 'zygote' in her womb is a life.....you take away choice everytime you abort. Adoption is a choice. Being poor and making it big in a capitalist society is a choice, staying on welfare because it is easy is a choice.

 

Climate Change: give me one study and I will give you two that refute that it is caused by nature vs man made...old topic. I recycle and do good by my world because it is the right thing to do. Don't make me support a company that makes electric automobiles when the batteries of said autos are just as bad if not worse on the environment and guess what? It takes coal or wind power (that kill Bald Eagles) etc to charge that little car that doesn't do crap for a contruction person in the real world!

 

Suppression is when you have 10 million illegals in a country being told they have more rights than the citizens of said country. I was in Target today, 84 yoa man in front of me was trying to purchase wine, cashier would not let him without an ID. I presented mine, said I would vouch for the guy in order to get the register to move along. Cashier had to have the approval of the manager....yet we vote our elected officials without one? Suppression of old people? How do they recieve their SS checks? How do they access the local library, post office, travel agency, bank, heck, any type of shopping now likes to track you with your ID, it is the thing to do!

No! Stronger welfare makes one more reliant on the government. Ask someone who has put up a bird feeder, birds will keep coming even when there is food in nature, it is easier to take the path of least resistance. Not saying take away welfare, just reign it in to the truly needy. It is stated there are x number of starving children in the US. Welfare is fairly simple to get, housing assistance, food through your school system (Texas even feeds kids during summer months in some cities) What bad decisions are these people making that their children are going hungry in the US?

 

Yes, our public education system does promote a lower intelligent people. That is why school vouchers and private run schools are doing so well. You can thank the TEA for this mess...liberal/democrat ideals. Taking the Bible out of the schools has taken more than just a word out.

 

You are still worried about Christian Theocracy. 250 years of religious freedom and you are worried we will indoctrinate you with 'the good word'? Yet... you will support the Muslim Brotherhood and the persecution of gays, Christians, women, freedom they represent in such a short time? Christians stopped the Salem witch trials, Christians helped free the slaves, Christians founded many of the non profit hospitals, food banks, welfare programs that you find today. Christians come in all shapes and sizes, there are good and bad in everything, but you really trust the people that tend to think 'bombing' innocent people is the way to go? This is why we don't get how you think. BUT, we still fight for your right to think that way, liberals want the boy scouts to not be able to think what they want. That is just one example. Sit down and think about all of liberal policies. You are suppressing us by telling us we don't think right! You can't have it both ways. My problem with liberals is that you usually are able to make heavy Bible thumpers look tame.  The more 'liberal minded' a person says they are normally means the nastier and mean tempered they act.  Liberals say they have no problem with conservatives or 'war on conservative' yet seem to have a cow when a conservative wants to practice THEIR religion and beliefs.  The liberals are able to shout from the mountain tops what they want to believe and promote but have no tolerance for the conservative if they remotely express their beliefs in public.  Liberals are quite accepting of others as long as 'others' do not disagree with the liberal.  The liberals also tend to be contradictory to their own beliefs.  They want to say that they support the military yet have a fit when anyone supports guns.  News flash is that the military uses guns.  They say they support law enforcement yet again refuse to allow children be taught how to properly act about weapons.  They usually are hostile against cutting down trees but have no problem using paper.  (I would love to see them wipe with a piece of plastic).  They are accepting of alternative lifestyles yet if you disagree with them then you are homophobic.  I have yet to find a liberal who really deserves respect because they refuse to respect others who do not agree with them.
