DiveDeepSix
Typical, more profs and teachers thinking they are so much smarter then everyone else that their way is the only correct one. To bad most of them are complete failures in the real world, why they teach our kids I have no idea!! College prof bans students from citing the Onion and Fox News 3 hrs ago A West Liberty University professor has been criticized on campus and off for telling her students not to use Fox News as a “serious academic reference.” Political science prof Stephanie Wolfe's course syllabus listed the sources her students were banned from citing in their research. The Onion was first, followed by Fox News. "The tagline ‘Fox News’ makes me cringe," she wrote. "I would almost [rather you] print off an article from the Onion." Concerned parents contacted the administration (and the local news) until the school responded. “Any attempt to limit the breadth of a student’s ability to investigate is obviously something [that causes] concern,” University President Robin Capehart said. Wolfe has since lifted the ban. http://now.msn.com/stephanie-wolfe-bans-students-from-using-fox-news-as-research-source

I agree, but don't the others do as well? Fox may slant to the right but they are FARRRRRRRRRR out numbered by our friends on the left(CBS,ABC,NBC,MSNBC........etc). I leave CNN off only because I believe they have made a effort to closer to the center(still leans left)-peace

Hame, it doesn't surprise me you are a teacher, like I said try the real world sometime, most likely why you are such a big fan of our current occupant in the WH. To bad FOX has a bigger following then the rest of the TV media sources combined. So they must be doing something right, right Teach? Talk about slanted listen to that complete sphincter boy Blitzer bias everything and throw in his lame @$$ opinions on everything, not just politics. Personally I watch both FOX and the Clown News Network, no one out there spins it like CNN and MSN, anything that doesn't completely worship their messiah O, gets cut out of their BOREDcasts completely. 5
Rayzur
Wouldn't one ban the use of ANY news channel as primary source? I thought the exercise was to do one's own research in discovering the bottom line of the topic at hand.... and I can't see using TV news as an authentic primary source document for such a query.... Course its been awhile since I was in school... so maybe undergrads use TV instead of the library these days Thats not real encouraging....

No it is the other so called news sources that choose to hide truth from viewers if it hurts the current administration or the liberal adgenda and we find that offensive. The more you people try to diminish FOX News the more we realize we should actually pay attention to FOX News, the manipulation and distortion you've become accustomed to is foolish at best, at the very least concerning. Stop trying to slander any oposition it is so petty and transparent. 6

No that would be way to logical, and confrontational for the poor nutty professors, they wouldn't want any facts getting in the way of reprogramming our youth to be socialists. It makes them feel stupid for voting for him when they see the facts proving how ignorant they truly are, so they try and write FOX off as biased and a joke and choose to ignore the truth instead. I guess in their cases Ignorance really is Bliss! +1..................sad ain't it. No doubt.

hame55
Hmmmmm, what news media doesn't mix reporting with opinion. True....all TV news is slanted. Bias has increased since Cronkite's time immensely. I suppose it depends on your perspective - I see ALL news reporting either center or to the right, even CNN and MSNBC - they ALL promote the status quo, which is the big business viewpoint. They are all owned by big business and depend on big business for advertising - get a grip, guys. Business views mean shock and awe, buy and buy, the ME is strategically important (tho they don't explain why...), renewable energy won't work, there is no climate change.....you get the message? THE MEDIA IS RIGHT TO FAR RIGHT. The right wingers own it (Ted Turner an exception) MSNB is owned by General Electric, who makes war machines - the Iraq war? Billions more in sales...shock and awe? Colin Powell talking about weapons? On MSNBC.... YOU GUYS ALWAYS SAY FOLLOW THE MONEY FOR THE DINAR! THE SAME GOES FOR THE NEWS. THE MONEY IS MADE KEEPING US IN THE DARK. PROPAGANDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I speaking to people who have an open mind? Who are willing to listen? Otherwise I am wasting my time.... Sure. As many sources as possible. But they must be real sources. News sources must be real news - not a mix of reporting and propaganda. "Some say" such and such happens all the time on FOX. "SOME?" Who? Who is the source? Why do center/right views get little time, while right wing views like Cheney and generals in the Pentagon get much more time? Who owns FOX - Rupert Murdoch, a notorious right winger who is known for micro-managing FOX stories and for hacking into people's emails and phones in Britain, and for having crazy views on politics - and he's a FOREIGNER! (Aussie) Doesn't that foreign owner stuff just get you righties all in a dither? OH, only when it's a leftie like Soros...OK I get it. See you guys just don't have your facts.....that's because you watch FOX --- LOL Edited February 16, 2013 by hame55 3

DinarMillionaire
This thread confirms what I already believed: most college professors are not very smart; rather, they are controversial. Regrettably, many of what many may call "intellectuals" who are working in the public sector would in a heartbeat substitute personal liberty for what they would call their "ideal world." This is a dangerous road to take, and it can hardly be considered a characteristic of someone of intelligence. Despite the liberal bias in college, I like to point out that a conservative student is more likely to get a better education than a liberal one. Having one’s worldview challenged, rather than affirmed, strengthens one’s ability to think clearly and critically. 3
Lostenso
Come on Umbert. Lostenso and Parm....I could use some help here...LOL It's weird . . . I rarely feel inspired to argue about this stuff anymore. I agree with everything you have said in this thread 100% Hame. But when someone like Parmenio says this : "Sounds like you idolize the Nazis. Haven't you learned anything from their book burning campaigns in 1933? By the way I don't believe for a second you are a professor! They're not that stupid to come out and make a statement on the internet like you have!" I just feel exhausted. Luckily the world will move forward with or without him so who really cares? (I guess it's a free comedy show every time he complains though!) And yeah, for the record, Faux "News" should only be cited is in a piece describing how ridiculous Faux "News" is. The "information" Faux News provides is not worthy of citation in any other form. 5
