PRESIDENT BARZANI

President Masoud Barzani last week attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland where he met heads of state and political and business leaders.

President Barzani had meetings with King Abdullah of Jordan, the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati. He also held talks with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Switzerland’s State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Yves Rosseir, and a US congressional delegation headed by majority leader Eric Cantor. He met Ahmad Mouaz Al-Khatib, the President of the Syrian National Coalition, and Amr Moussa, the former head of the Arab League.

As well as meeting political leaders, President Barzani also met with the President of the International Red Cross Peter Mauer, Chevron’s Global Head of Business Development Mr Jay Pryor, and the President of Exxon Mobil Mr Rex Tillerson.

On the second day of his visit to the World Economic Forum, the President and several Middle Eastern leaders participated in a roundtable meeting on the geopolitical impact of the Arab Spring in the region.

Several Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials accompanied President Barzani, including Deputy Prime Minister Imad Ahmad, the President’s Chief of Staff Dr Fuad Hussein, Minister of Natural Resources Dr Ashti Hawrami, Minister of Planning Dr Ali Sindi, and the Head of Foreign Relations Minister Falah Mustafa.
