krome2ez
Patriotic Group To Build Armed 'Defensible' Neighborhood Fortress By Gregory Gwyn-Williams, Jr. January 12, 2013 A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty. The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty." According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let live." Citadel explains that residents in the community will be bound by the following: Patriotism Pride in American Exceptionalism Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes --such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina -- or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty -- the Rifle -- are prudent measures." Some of the benefits of the Citadel community include a safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where children will be educated in school, not indoctrinated. The community will be protected by a perimeter wall that will be inaccessible to "tourists." Each neighborhood within the community will have lower walls, dividing the town into defensible sections. The website has a link to applications where prospective residents can sign up. According to Citadel, more than 200 families have completed applications, even before any land has been purchased. While Citadel may sound wonderful to many who are reading this, the community has posted a warning on their home page: "Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles." Citadel says that every patriot selected to live within the community "will voluntarily agree to follow the footsteps of our Founding Fathers by swearing to one another our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic." jobug38
The press is putting their bias spin on this. This more along the lines of a place to be protecting, and defending yourself and families when SHTF. If a bunch of Americans do it it's put in the media like they're some kind of nut jobs. When the Muslims build theirs on hundreds of acres of land its called a community. So I say if they want to do it let them.

When I was younger (like in the mid-seventies...) I read about this Community called "Lama Foundation" located somewhere in the Sangre de Cristo mountains in New Mexico... I got fascinated by what I read ( and add to that the fact I really wanted to visit the USA....) but hadn't any money to fly to the States at that time... I wonder if they still exist.... krome2ez
Wasn't there something like this in Waco TX sometimes in the 90's? Check your history Joe. Branch Davidian's were a religious cult. Though perfectly legal to do as they had, this is not the same. And Dog I think you may be premature in assuming that this would be a "Comune" in the sence that you imply. We should wait for more details before condemning. The same could have been said of our Forefathers. Fanatical of Liberty is a good thing. Again, I would investigate who these people are, and what is thier goal/agenda, before condeming them as some sort of crazy zelots.

Who are they trying to keep out? Will they make up their own laws and disregard those of the state and federal government? Will they pay their taxes? Will they work among us or behind the walls? Where will they get their medical care? Who will provide them with medicine? Will they have their own meat and veggies? Will they have a fire department? Where will they get their goods to live, such as textiles and automobiles? Anything they purchase beyond the walls will require a payment of taxes, therefore casting them under the control of government and law enforcement. I see failure. As always, just my opinion. Shabibilicious
If these questions are answered should the government move in and massacre them like Waco, Texas? Inquiring minds want to know. Nobody said anything about a massacre. Maybe we should ask the sexually assaulted Branch Davidian survivors what they think.....they are old enough to answer now. I don't care what anybody says, people cannot start their own community in this country without following state and federal laws. It will never happen, and it shouldn't. The 60's and 70's were the best times in my life! The davidians had to many branches in front of their eyes to read the bible.I think the fort is a bad idea because it could become their prison as well. One thing I will give them is at least they are coming together as a people and doing something about the situation. Peace and Love.
Nelg
I think this is a wonderful idea! It would take approximately 3.4 million sq. miles with enough water and food production to feed 300 million. We could have a standing army, police force, and volunteers to defend all our boarders from intruders. To protect the people from a dictatorship we could elect officials with a limited term of office. We could be united in everything we do: education, defense, medicine, etc. We could be so good at it that everyone would want to come into our territory and join us, but they would need to go by our rules and standards of living. Oh wait! We need to have a name that would indicate our cause. How about United States of America! Sounds good to me. Let's do it!
