eastcreek
Mus, please read the letter by Mr. Connelly that was posted. If you disagree with parts of it, please site those parts and back up your thoughts with facts or good intel. Mr. Connelly makes a compelling argument, and all you can do is start calling names. This legislation is unconstitutional, and needs to be repealed. If left as law, it will do nothing less than make us more dependent on the government, and less independent individuals. We are being weakened !
critter5869
Please go to another forum where calling people names is welcome....You just made my point. Thank you but just remember you can't shut everybody up. That includes me ! I fought for this country; nice try.
The Watcher
Where did you get your information, MSNBC? Must have been that totally unbiased journalist Mathews whats his name. Muspublisher, my forehead is bruised from butting heads with a goat like you. I am not a fan of George Bush, but all of the wrongs on earth are not his fault. Go back to the beginning of our current financial debacle and you will see that GW tried to rein it in but your buddy Bawney put a stop to it. Come on! Get your facts straight. By the way, Social Security, a product of that great socialist FDR, and Medicare and Medicaid, a product of FDR's student, LBJ, are both busted!!! Socialism at work! When the money is all gone, who will you blame then? Oh yeah, the people of America, the bill payers, own those evil corporations that bring you to such disgust. You can bet they did not destroy GM, or make Detroit a cesspool. Corporate greed did not kill the goose, a large out of control government killed the goose. Now, where will the golden eggs come from? The government? Make me laugh!
Muspublisher
Last point and I'm signing off......First off, I do want to apologize for calling someone stupid... that was out of line, and for it, I apologize. With that said, I find this entire health bill, and those who oppose it, completely absurd on every level. Look, I graduated with a degree in Political Science... I was a Page in Washington and I've worked with both Republican and Democratic leaders in the Senate and the House. I'm sorry, but the average American simply has NO IDEA what shapes policy in Washington. The average American has absolutely NO IDEA how easily they are led around by the nose by the power structure. It is because of this I left Washington. It's a crooked place full of crooked people. However, with the ousting of Bush and his cronies, the passing of this legislation, and the disarmament of both Russia and the US (in case anyone has paid attention to that deal), I feel for the first time.... we are, the people, finally getting a little something back. Anything short of that and it's simply re-hashing of what you've heard from somewhere else..... and I find that grossly disappointing as an American.I'm done.... carry on as you always have. Peasants in a country in which you should have all the control... yet have NONE. But hey... Fox has great ratings so they must know what's up, right? Riiiiiiggggghhhhhttttttt

We can agree to disagree... yet the fact remains, history proves conservative ideology to be a completely dysfunctional, and unsustainable thought process. And no... I don't watch MSNBC... or any corporate news agency. They all have the same general thought process regarding the endeavors of man. Of which, is hardly accurate..... Barbann
Barbann... with all due respect, nothing, and I mean NOTHING happens in the country without corporate America's say so. If you don't understand that simple fact, I'm afraid you don't understand anything about the country in which you inhabit. For all the rhetoric involving what is right and what is wrong, corporate American continues on how it always has: with nary a care about America, or what it stands for; with nary a care about you or I. Corporate America is about one thing and one thing only: Profit for shareholders. This entire country is run by what pleases shareholders the most. If you don't understand that, or grasp what it means, I'm sorry, but you'll be left out of a lot of decision making. With that said, I'm not naive enough to think that there weren't deals in this bill. The fact that the bill went through at all shows there were deals. This goes for ANY deal that goes through ... EVER. But again, you won't, as a lowly peasant, have to endure whether to to pay for your bills or get a heart surgery so you can survive. This is the crux of the argument. Everything else is as Chomsky put it, "emotionally potent oversimplifications". Which is a nice way to say: Argument points for your particular party. Which is, of course, exactly what they want us doing... arguing back and forth over nothing while they continue to maintain a profit structure that serves only them. And when I say "they" I don't mean some shadow, or undefinable grouping of people.... I very clearly mean corporate America: The new masters for the 21st century. This really isn't that hard to follow.... provided, of course, you read books and not take your local and national tv news as gospel truth. Just my two cents......Contrary to your statement starting with "all due respect" I found your post to be very disrespectful in content and intent. You only understand the country you inhabit based on your perceptions of the information you have digested. If that information is completely biased, so are you. Your insinuation that anyone who disagrees with your position must not read books and gets all of their infomation from TV is absurd and arrogant. Barbann
Actually you couldn't be further from the truth. However, I will state that I am not, by any means, a conservative Republican. After all, it's these people who have been on the wrong side of history. Facts? Okay... let's run some great moments in conservative history and see how they stack up: Conservatives: Dead set against allowing black people into white schools Outcome: Epic failConservatives: Was sure the Earth was flatOutcome: Epic failConservatives: Was sure we lived in a geocentric universeOutcome: Epic failConservatives: burned thousands of women at the stake for being witchesOutcome: Epic failConservatives: Believed black people were given to whites by God himself to serve the white communityOutcome: Epic failConservatives: Believed Medicaid and Medicare was the second coming of MarxismOutcome: Epic failConservatives: brought us such great and enlightening periods as the Dark Ages and the CrusadesOutcome: Epic failSo my question to you is simply this: When have they been correct? About anything? History has shown them to be a group of bumbling idiots... over and over again. What makes them correct in governing now? After all, we gave W 8 years to get it right. How did that end up?EPIC FAILMost of these events were motivated by religious beliefs of the period.
RMLP
This bill you say we are getting something back and the average american is being lead around by the nose...well...that is what this bill does...gives the government more ability to lead people around...this bill takes rights and choices away from us....this bill is about controlling another and another and another revenue stream for the government and more control and more power....I really don't care about your self endorsement of yourself....it doesn't mean a thing really to me...please go to a another site where you have the same mindset... Barbann
This is a no-win situation. Whether this whole thing is run by privately controlled insurance companies or the government - it doesn't matter. Both parties are as crooked as a snake in a hurry!! In am neither a Republican or Democrat, but the sense I get is that since Obama was elected, the Republicans have had a non-stop bashing campaign going - regardless of the topic. If Obama had a plan to give money to an orphanage, somehow the Republicans would twist it into something cynical. The Dems are no better, but for god's sake, it's obvious that Washington is nothing short of a train wreck. We need to start over and move the capitol to Omaha or Kansas City, clean house, and let some decent people guide the country. Watching C-Span is almost as comical as watching televangelists or that guy selling miracle water! And they don't even realize it. This country has gotten too big for its own good.Well I half agree with you. The Obama thing is no worse than the Bush bashing but I do agree we need to clean them all out and start over. ironhand
divide and conquer. where's the love? where's the unity? so much to heal, so little time. creation is already perfect. it's the minds of men that cause suffering. you have been given, through the grace and love of divine intelligence, free will. if you choose to operate with, in, and through that grace and love, there is heaven. when your mind takes you for a ride off that path it creates suffering. still yourselves and get some perspective. our governments and corporations are suffering in the same way individuals are suffering from deep rooted unconscious negative mind structures. they are like lost children fighting over a toy. from this perspective it's easier to have compassion. it's easier to remove yourself from the illusion and make space for the holy light of consciousness to come in. otherwise humanity will destroy itself. good luck and peace be with you all! drox
You know what makes me sad.... I think about those soldiers coming off the boats as they reach Normandy beach in WWII and how they watched half of their buddies die as the ramp went down on the beach. Then they had to fight through bullets and barbwire and crawl through the sand as the enemy fired from a position above them. Even more died. They were men fighting for people of a different land as well as for the country they loved in an impossible scenario. Democrats and Republicans fighting side by side. Dying in each others arms. I can't help but think how disgusted they would feel by the juvenile vitriol from both sides in America today. The division in this country is wrecking this nation and is being taught to our youth through our actions and hate has settled in the cracks like cement. Divorce rates are around 50%. Depression and greed rule the land. Many are driving around in their entire net worth. You all should be ashamed that you lack the empathy to see the good along with the bad. This is a human argument people. Americans helping Americans. Obama is not out to get you and neither was George Bush. They are great Americans that loved their country so much that they ran for the highest office in the world. Power hungry? Maybe a tad. I choose to see the good amongst the bad. I believe they love their country and want to make it a better place to live. This lack of consciousness and insatiable egoic intention we have created is just ugly, disturbing, and damaging. It comes down to simple choice really. You can choose to be one end of a polar magnet that works against the other as a constant counterpoint which really serves no particular use or destiny except to vent your anger....or you can flip it around and find the good (but work towards even better) and work together to form a bond that shapes the universe. I know which I choose. Before you think I am attacking just you...breath....and realize I am speaking to all of us including myself at times. Consciousness is a choice.Your "Pollyanna" friend....
