TexasGranny
That's not the way to recover from a strained period. Thanks for the non-answer. I take it from that you would have preferred the Republican's to just "compromise" is that right? When the other side makes no attempt to do the same what do you expect them to do "roll over" and let the DEMS have full rein. If they had done that, you would be blessed with a single payer health system that would have totally wrecked health care in our country. At least another trillion in debt because that's the amount they wanted for the second stimulus. Most likely the top tax rate would have been 50% with capital gains running a close second. What would that do for our economy? Just where do you think we would have been then?

skitealwedrop
I think that both parties should meld and do what is best for Americans, if that's possible. The two party system is counter productive. We should all work together in the best interest of Americans.

McConnell made their intentions clear from day 1. The impact of the standoffs are what they are, NO spinning the what if's. Not a way to recovery.
cris
Its easy....Democrats should give up all of their Liberal ideas, and just agree to do things the Conservative way. A real bipartisan Congress is far more important than their Socialist Agenda.....See....Its so simple... The Demo's crying fowl after they lose the Senate, is what we will have to deal with after Nov....Maybe they should start being bipartisan right now.

If you've ever seen this guy, you can probably hear his voice as you read.... Democrat James Carville Says “80% of Democrats Don’t Have a Clue as to Political Reality.” September 17th, 2011 | Here is the direct quote as lifted from Thinkexist.com: “Ideologies aren’t all that important. What’s important is psychology. The Democratic constituency is just like a herd of cows. All you have to do is lay out enough silage and they come running. That’s why I became an operative working with Democrats. With Democrats all you have to do is make a lot of noise, lay out the hay, and be ready to use the ole cattle prod in case a few want to bolt the herd. Eighty percent of the people who call themselves Democrats don’t have a clue as to political reality. What amazes me is that you could take a group of people who are hard workers and convince them that they should support social programs that were the exact opposite of their own personal convictions. Put a little fear here and there and you can get people to vote any way you want. The voter is basically dumb and lazy. The reason I became a Democratic operative instead of a Republican was because there were more Democrats that didn’t have a clue than there were Republicans. Truth is relative. Truth is what you can make the voter believe is the truth. If you’re smart enough, truth is what you make the voter think it is. That’s why I’m a Democrat. I can make the Democratic voters think whatever I want them to.” END QUOTE

Maybe his wife, the lovely and conservative Mary Matalin is finally rubbing off on him. Or maybe he just felt compelled to exhibit a random act of honesty - rare for liberals. By his own admission - he's lazy! Democrats are far easier to herd than Republicans - path of least resistance!
