Outsourcing and the effect on our economy.

I believe that one of the reasons that we have so many workers unemployed is due to outsourcing by corporate America to other countries. Our manufacturing, production and technical support jobs are shipped overseas. They are virtually gone. What that equates to is that Americans are out of work, they are on government assistance and are not paying payroll taxes that this country relies on to support our Social Security and Medicare programs.

I think that any corporation that produces off shore in any way should suffer a significant higher tax liability. The problem is that large Corporations are able to create other entities off shore to avoid paying taxes.

Americans need jobs. We need to bring the work home to the American people. That's my simplistic view of the problem in our country.

I would have to agree with you 100%...another issue is taking work overseas or south of the border to make consumer goods then bringing back here for Americans to buy...take jobs...take purchasing power..gonna bite em in the butt someday...I wanted to outsource my yard mowing but couldn't get it done so I just fertilized it with Roundup...problem solved...cheers

High Taxes are the reason for outsourcing Ski.

America now has the highest Corporate Tax in the world.

While a great deal of other Countries are reducing Taxes,

to insure jobs dont leave....The current POTUS is discussing

further increasing Taxes....On top of the new ones created in

Obamacare & all the new Regulations that have been imposed

since 2009.

The solution is not more Taxes...Its less Government

John Roberts of the Supreme Court enlightened the public with upholding the additional tax disguised as regulations from the Healthcare bill.

Industry has suffered with the additional taxes through regulations longer than their owners could endure.

Regulations to assure cleaner air leaving a plant than comes into it.

Regulations to provide a safer work place than the homes of its’ employees.

Regulations to pay wages higher than anyone else in the world.

Industry threw in the towel.

My post was about labor costs and the outsourcing of work to other countries. Our jobs are outsourced, meaning that American workers are without work and our payroll tax system will fail.

It's a complicated issue that I have thought about many times. I'm not here to argue.

Maybe I think too much on a higher level.

Americans need work!!!

Thats ok, I dont want to fight with you either Ski

But its not the least bit complicated.....Imposing higher Taxes wont

bring those jobs back, It will drive the Corporation along with the jobs

out of the Country.

I'll leave it at that, and let all the higher tax people make

their comments.

Our jobs are gone Cris.

The American workers are relied upon to support Medicare, Social Security, War and the endless foreign aide that other countries rely on.

At some point the US has to shut off the faucet of cash to others and focus on what is best for Americans.

Ski....can i ask a question?

Sure. What is your question and why would you ask me?

I don't disagree with you but I do find it interesting that only now are people talking about losing jobs to other countries.

I didn't hear people complain when the government let the American shipping industry take it in the shorts and let other conturies take over and made it so that companies use a flag of convenience to get around us shipping laws thereby laying off a lot of our merchantmen. This all started in the 60's.

I also didn't hear anyone complain when the Japanies auto industry ate the US auto industries lunch. Starting in the 70's. How many of you drove a Datsun or Honda in the 70's or 80's. when they where made in Japan and the auto industry had to lay off people.

I also haven't heard anyone complain that the last plant that made TV's was closed due to the fact that it is cheaper to make them in China.

The only time people complain about a job going off shore is when it is theres. we should have been saying somthing long ago.

I had a conversation with to electronic engineers about 6 years ago. They had lost there job to outsourcing to India.

I went thru the same things that I am talking about here. I asked them did the support the American worker. They told me they don't look at where something is made they just bought what was the least expensive.

I reminded them of the story: They came for the mentally ill and I didn't say anything. They came for the Gypsies and I didn't say anything. They came for the Jew's and I didn't say anything. Then they came for me and there was no one to say anything.

The Japaneses protect there industry by putting high tariffs on goods from the US. the make it difficult for our rice farmers to sell rice by adding tariffs to make it more expensive. They put hug tariffs in US cars to make them more expensive etc.etc.

But we don't do that to their goods. We need to put tariffs on all items coming into this country equal to the tariffs that are put on US good in those respective countries.

Sorry for the Lecture.

Let the flames begin. :twocents:

Didn't you argue that corporations don't pay taxes? Nonetheless, taxes are not the reason for outsourcing, as I have stated several times, it's cheaper labor and opening of international trades. Taxes are the reasons they don't bring all the money back to the U.S.

What's your question? I'm not offended by rude people. I encounter them often and can hold my own.

:( okay...but please don't think ill of me after. :(

Q: have you ever worked for a service or production company? preferably one that was on verge of closing or has closed. or do you own you own company? i have to know so i don't have to worry about explaining a few things after.

thanks.

Good post Rico.

The demise of the US economy has progressed slowly over the past ten years due to outsourcing.

Good point, tariffs on imports into the US should be mandated.

I like your post. Most Americans have no concept of the net effect on our economy when we import from other countries.

Thanks for posting.

outsourcing is not an independent thing .. theres also insourcing .. like sony tvs in pittsburg honda cars .. toyota .. ect.

any way the united states insources more than it outsources .. if we stop the outsourcing they stop the insourcing .. the last time i looked up the statistics we insourced 80 billion a year of jobs .. and we outsourced 50 billion a year,,, a net gain of 30 billion dollars a year ..,, so stopping outsourcing would be retaliated by them stopping the insourcing ..

we manufacture cars in japan .. they manufacture cars here.. see the demodrats wont tell you the whole story .... lower corporate taxes to 25 % and there would be even more insourcing ..

romney will straighten this mess out if he wins .. he knows these things .. obama is just a slogan mouth piece .. he doesnt say a word about insourcing .. just the outsourcing part ..

we need a republican super majority in the senate so the dems cant filibuster every bill like they did under bush .. oh except for the iraq war most of the democrats voted to go to war in iraq .. but now they just lie about that .

in my 50 plus years on earth .. the republicans never had a super majority in the senate .. and controll of the house .. and the white house .. id like to see what they would do without a filibuster .. we saw what the democrats did they forced socialism on us .. and mandated us to buy health care which is 100% fascism .. we have a fascist socialist nationalist commie govt with obama read pelosi .. they got to go and we will see results .. but we need to get 60 senate seats too and keep the house .. and get romney/ryan to fix this ignorant mess

thank you...your on the right track for part of the solution!

the #1 reason for a company or Business to exist is wot? To try to make a profit! you cant do that when there is something eating away at your profit margin. eventually they will eat up higher than your operating cost! than after that it filters down the line to the consumers and that eventually to it employees...

I don't recall neither party teaching the economics of real trade. But your synopsis is correct, we can't just stop without other trade consequences. Was taught this in high school economics. These problems and policies existed before obama read pelosi.

BTW: 28% was proposed.

then it get to the Basic Supply and demand model of Economics... and this part....everyone get its confused!

and of course it goes higher than just a matter of Tax Sheltering offshore. big company have that option....but the smaller ones who don't have that option...will basically and eventually...go out of business. what happens then....no one has job.

For service or manufacturing company, what are their two most biggest expense?

it is People and Material....i say again "People" and "Material"....when companies have to budged there revenue when revenue is short....they would have to cut cost...and what are they going to cut cost to? People's wages or out right lay off or try to find cheaper material to make their products.

But People HATE that! they don't want their wages to be cut...they don't want to be laid off...so how does a company compromise to maintain they budget operating cost a lot of them choose cheep labor. its a sad reality but it happens.

Your question is rather vague. I can't answer your question. I don't know the facts and wouldn't want to.

Take care.
