delta22
ATLANTA -- A federal appeals court has ruled that Georgia law enforcement can check on the immigration status of criminal suspects who fail to produce proper identification. The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Monday that a hold blocking that section of the state's 2011 immigration law should be lifted. The panel did leave in place a part of the injunction blocking the prosecution of certain individuals who knowingly harbor or transport an illegal immigrant during the commission of a crime. The decision follows a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling upholding parts of a similar law in Arizona. 5

I don't get it, why wouldn't it be legal to check on anybody immigration status even if they haven't committed a crime. Let's say you get pulled over for a driving infraction, the officer ask for your license. If you can't produce one or have some kind of identification (1) that is illegal, you must have some sort identification on you at all times. (2) how would the officer know who that person is, that is not invasion of rights that protection of the community.

The Elightened folks in Congress (Liberals) consider trying to establish immigration status is "ethnic profiling". From a more practical point of view, if the issue of their legality is a serious enough crime to warrant incarceration, the local law has to feed them, offer medical assistance, clothe them and fight the ACLU. Unless they are caught in the act of a felony, it is cheaper on local government to just turn a blind eye. Calling an Illegal Immigrant a non-documented worker is the same as calling a Crack Dealer an Non-Union Pharmacist ..

wpsmit
I still say let's bring home all troops and sophisticated heat seeking detection equipment, take it to the mexican border and line the troops in a chain from the southeastern most tip of Texas all the way to San Diego. WAY TO GO GA! Let's take some of these government teet sucking freeloaders and have them pick peaches and peanuts.
