flatdawg
STEVE PEOPLES, Associated Press SAN DIEGO (AP) — On a stage crowded with war heroes, Mitt Romney recently praised the sacrifice "of the great men and women of every generation who serve in our armed services." It is a sacrifice the Republican presidential candidate did not make. Though an early supporter of the Vietnam War, Romney avoided military service at the height of the fighting after high school by seeking and receiving four draft deferments, according to Selective Service records. They included college deferments and a 31-month stretch as a "minister of religion" in France, a classification for Mormon missionaries that the church at the time feared was being overused. The country was cutting troop levels by the time he became eligible for the draft, and his lottery number was not called. I guess in a few more decades this excuse will no longer be valid!! And your last comment Another chicken-hawk neocon... just what this once great country needs. Avoid the issues and get in the gutter. Libertarian, not liberal. Been here nearly a year longer than you whipit. This Presidential candidate supports invading another country (Iran), but wouldn't go to war when his country needed him. Seriously, that's not a legitimate issue? 3
flatdawg
This Country is still the Greatest, Greatest at what? Making war? Spending and borrowing money? Imprisoning it's own people at a rate seen in no other country in the world? I could go on and on. For this country to be great again, we must realize, at this time it is not the "greatest". 3

flatdawg
Military service is not a requirement to be President. I'll agree. And four deferments of military service for willard makes him look like a chicken-hawk for supporting an invasion of Iran. Being a (former) military man yourself, I find it hard to believe you could support a man for President that didn't have the balls to serve his country when he could have. Well... at least he has 1 fewer deferments than d!ck cheney. 3

The only substance demo's spread smells and is hard to get off your shoes when stepped in. Upset me that he ran off to England instead of joining the military in times of war, then did his little thing in the former Yugoslavia. Another Democratic BS issue, Symbolism over Substance I think this should be an issue for all Americans. The man wants to invade a country, but yet had no balls to go to war for his country when he had the chance. There is no correlation between calling willard a chicken-hawk and being a Democrat. In fact, I am a Libertarian. You do know that there are more than two political parties in this country, right?

Dont even bother with this guy buddy, This particular brand of 'Libertarian' is the real Chickenhawk.... Calling for r3volution in his own country, while systematically opening the door to Communism across the world. Whats that sound like to everyone?....Yep thats right, destroy the Country from within....Every policy is geared towards that end, they like to couch their rhetoric in terms that, at first blush, may seem reasonable, but in the end, its the same kind of destruction that the Marxist Communists & Socialists would like to see here. Notice he implies that our Nation is not & should not be the Greatest? Maybe we should be knocked down a peg or two .... Who else uses these kind of phrases?....I'm beginning to wonder if he was in the service at all.....Probably not, unless it was the service of his master.....Chaos. Romney will be needing all the help he can get. Why else would he go overseas to solicit campaign donations? Although it would be great for America, I don't expect Governor Johnson to win the coming election. However, I will sleep better for the next four years knowing that I supported Johnson, not the lesser of two evils. How 'bout you?

You were kidding right? Obama was 12 when we "officially" started to end our involvement in the war, and 13-14 when Saigon fell. How in the hell would he of been registered for the draft? 1

Perhaps you should educate yourself before you blast someone's post Deathmonkey! The Selective Service System wants you to know that the requirement to register for the military draft did not go away with the end of the Vietnam War. Under the law, virtually all male U.S. citizens, and male aliens living in the U.S., who are ages 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service. more....... http://usgovinfo.abo.../a/draftreg.htm need more? http://www.sss.gov/default.htm
dinar_stud
He!l Barry won't even allow the country to see his draft registration (probably a forgery) Is that a constitutional requirement or is it another of the birther BS I have read about?? How about the letter from the Selectiove Service System to Zullo??? 2012-05-10 – Letter – SSS to Zullo – Flahavan How about the Selective Service System letter to Arpaio I love the part that says quite clearly This Agency has no evidence that President Obama’s 1980 registration is not authentic. However, if you have any credible evidence to the contrary and believe that a Federal crime has been committed, we suggest that it be turned over immediately to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to pursue. Its there and has been verified, but since it is not a Constitutional nor is it a legal requirement to become president you point is moot.
