Gun Control

If I have posted this before, accept my apology. But perhaps this is important enough in today's political environment that it should be reposted anyway.

AMERICA'S HUNTERS --- Pretty Amazing!

The world's largest standing army... America’s hunters! A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion: There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin.

Allow me to restate that number: Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. More men were under arms in Wisconsin than even exist in Iran. More than in France and Germany combined. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

Yet, that number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia, and it establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It's millions more.

The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting is not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.

That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Further food for thought the next time we consider gun control: If we disregard the assumption that hunters don’t possess the same skills as soldiers, the question would still remain . . . what army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens.

NOTE FROM HISTORY: Tomoyuki Yamashita, the highest ranking Japanese general in WWII, said later that Japan had no plans to invade the U. S. because of the large number of armed civilians.

I wonder how guns would work against bio warfare or nuclear and other terroristic warfare. I just Don't think papa's 22. and hunting rifle's gonna do much about the most predictable future war based attacks on the U.S. Not very realistic that we let alone any major superpower would be invaded by foreign infantry units. "The british are coming"
Neo , What are you trying to say ....because I just didnt understand your reply....Thanks....

Just that these gun fanatics kill me, sure they most certainly would help deter an infantry insurgence but the chance of that ever happening is very very unlikely. The major threat to a superpower where not only the military is the strongest in the world but many citizens are armed would not be a ground force. They would be chemical/bio and nuclear/terroristic threats. If America COULD be invaded it would have been long ago. So I think people worried about stockpiling guns have misplaced fear. It doesn't matter how many glocks or hunting rifles you have if a nuke drops on your city, or anthrax shows up at your door etc. Not saying by any means owning guns is a bad thing or not worthy. id rather have one and not need it than need one and not have one. I just think the fear mongers aren't seeing the logical picture of the future of war based tactics that would be used against us.

GREAT POST FRANCIE26!!! I'm prior military (as you and I have discussed before), I don't say exmilitary cause my training, pride for Our Country and general Love for America will never resolve. Your post made me tear up, and I was searching for the reason ...

Very possible that a regimen of zoloft is needed :P but I think its this... While I served, all the Branches of Service talked trash to the other. I will refrain for the time being for new training now shows the Army is the superior Branch :P But it was this, reguardless of what we said, what we did, when it was time WE WERE AND ARE ALL ONE! just as I know that if someone was stupid enough to try to invade with ground forces , the United States would come together. Our differences and prejudices would be put on the back burner. I hope that never happens but I do wish something could bring us all to a common goal

Again thanks

Hunters also have the ability to strategically position themselves in places needed to place a round that will drop an intended target. Most of these American hunters are militarily trained too. The hunters in this country have access to transportation that exceeds the abilities of the rest of the world. The nuclear and biological snakes you so fear are in danger of losing their head as soon as they raise them.

Guns will not protect against attacks by WMD. But that is no reason not to have a defense against other threats. If there were a ground attack, most Americans would stand together and defend. I am glad we still have the means to do so.

Umm, I don't "so fear" any threat without sufficient reason. All I said was that this type of modern warfare is more likely to be used so the fear of an invading ground force is irrational. And no, sorry a hunter with a scope, military trained or not, isn't stoping a nuke, a chemical/viral explosion, or a global jihadist's agenda. The point of terrorism is to be discreet, to strike without predictability. The only thing any citizens could ever do about this is hope for the best and hope the government has good counter intelligence to stop any attack preemptively.

Invading foreign armies are the least of our concerns. Keeping our own government at bay is what the 2nd amendment is originally intended.

The arms referred to by the Second Amendment and the founders of this country are the arms necessary for the free people of America to be able to hold their governments unbridled appetite for power in check and to resist invaders when called upon to serve in the militia in defense of our country, state or community. Our founding fathers, legislators and justices have spoken eloquently upon the subject of liberty, the need to be prepared to defend our liberty; particularly from our own government.
I kinda think any invasion is going to come from within our borders...

Yeah, I don't think having a president who expanded our gun rights as obama has is a really good indication of any domestic invasion or government takeover.

Well said DM! That's also what worries me, but our govt. won't use our own armed forces to keep us in line, because they can't, our military will not turn on it's citizens. However, the idiots in the UN would love nothing better than to come over with a bunch of their so called peace keepers to teach us a lesson. Didn't O just give them a bunch of power or try to? I'm pretty sure I just read something on that.

Obama expanding our gun rights, ROFLMAO, thanks for the laugh, the anointed one is the problem not the solution.

I'm glad I could provide the entertainment. I know facts tend to be silly to those who have trouble reading.

Obama has signed two laws expanding gun rights, one allowing people to take guns on Amtrak trains, and another allowing guns to be taken into national parks. He hasn't tried to renew the assault-weapons ban, or proposed a national system of gun licensing, or adopted any of the other changes advocated by those who oppose gun proliferation.

I know , amazing what facts you can find if you actually look huh. Lol! I wonder what your real fear of obama is based on bud?

Do you type this sort of propaganda with a strait face. Please show any proof Obama has expanded gun rights.

The Obama administration has successfully manage to push through gun control regulations in many, less visible ways: -- The Obama administration instituted a ban on importing "historic" semi-automatic rifles into the US . -- In sharp contrast to the Bush administration, President Obama strongly supports the UN Arms Trade Treaty even though he knows that any such treaty are unlikely to obtain the two-thirds vote in the Senate needed for ratification. What the regulations will do is lead to severe restrictions on private gun ownership around the world.

Ummmm, you mean the two bills that he CLEARLY passed, that CLEARLY expanded our gun rights that i CLEARLY just posted above and that you CLEARLY can't refute isn't proof for you. Lol! Ok there guy, Perhaps you should look up the definition of proof my friend. What you're spouting is speculation and propaganda, what I just provided was verifiable fact. Learn the difference. Might help with your unreasonable obama phobias.

I have been accumulating mass amounts of ammo, .223, 9mm, 12g personal protection rounds, 44mag, etc. IMO everyone that is conservative and believes in our Constitution should be doing this. If your not, you are renouncing your right as a US citizen. We need to come together as US citizens and reject the lies that obama and these spineless liberals spew.

Your ignorance and nievety astound me. Sure, he'll throw out a few bones to appear to the public at large that he's not against guns. But what you fail to see is the larger picture, that he in fact, is a snake in the grass. He said so himself... President Obama keeps pushing for gun control. "I just want you to know that we are working on [gun control]. We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar,” President Obama told Sarah Brady, the former president of the Brady Campaign, this past spring. But, no, don't take him at his words.

Obama’s most lasting impact on gun control is likely to be through the federal court judges he appoints. His most visible appointments have been the gun-control advocates he has made to the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan headed up President Clinton’s push for gun control when she worked for his White House during the 1990s. And Justice Sonia Sotomayor has signed on to a Supreme Court opinion stating that there is no individual right to "private self-defense" with guns.

Love IS blind, your love for Obama has blinded your judgement. Expand your scope of knowledge and pull your head out before it's too late. Ignorance is curable if you apply yourself and learn something.
