Ron Paul supporters refuse to give up

They hope to keep amassing delegates to increase influence

TACOMA — They jeer at the idea of coalescing behind Mitt Romney. They're still scraping for every possible delegate. And they hold out hope that Ron Paul could win the presidency this year.

By just watching Paul's loyal supporters, you'd never know that the Republican presidential contest is over.

Given that the delegate math makes it virtually impossible for the Texas congressman to win the nomination, it seems quixotic for his libertarian-leaning backers to continue their crusade. Here's a primer on what's going on among Paul's disciples and why they haven't given up:

• DIDN'T ROMNEY CLINCH THE NOMINATION?

Yes, Romney has already secured enough delegates (far surpassing the 1,144 needed) to formally win the GOP nomination at the convention in August. Along with five slots he won in Washington on Friday, Paul has now lined up about 140 delegates -- less than Rick Santorum, who already dropped out of the race. Many Paul supporters are unwilling to concede, however, and a few say the media has conspired to make Romney the presumptive winner. They booed on Friday when Romney's son, Josh, implored them to unite in support of the assumed candidate, and some Paul backers are still holding out hope that he could become the Republican nominee.

• HONESTLY, IS THERE ANY POSSIBLE WAY FOR PAUL TO WIN?

Many Paul loyalists acknowledge that delegates bound to vote for Romney at the national convention would have to break their pledges en masse in order for Paul to win -- a development that borders on inconceivable. It would mean that delegates, many of whom are GOP activists who have backed Romney for a long time, would take repercussions from the party for violating the rules of the process and then throw their support behind Paul instead of another alternative. Matt Dubin, a Paul delegate and organizer in Washington state, said it was both unlikely and something he is not advocating. Still, he said, it's something he would like to see happen. If that turmoil somehow occurred, Paul would also likely have to recruit disgruntled supporters of Santorum and Newt Gingrich to back him.

• ARE THERE ANY OTHER REASONS TO AMASS DELEGATES?

The more people they have inside the convention, the more power Paul's folks have in influencing both the party and Romney, and they desperately want a voice in the party's policy platform. In his Washington state convention speech, Dubin told the crowd that the Paul delegation was the future of the Republican party and said they wanted to hold Romney's feet to the fire so that he doesn't waver from conservative principles. They're particularly advocating for strict policies that would balance the federal budget and overhaul the Federal Reserve -- ideas that fit nicely with mainstream GOP proposals. Paul supporters helped shape Washington state's platform development to emphasize those points. The Texas congressman also has some unconventional Republican proposals, such as his opposition to American intervention abroad and government efforts to fight terrorism at home.

• WHAT IS PAUL SAYING?

Paul suspended active campaigning in May, saying he would no longer compete in states that have not voted. But he encouraged his supporters to continue their work in state conventions, in which dedication by his activists can give them influence over state parties and a chance to add to his delegate total for the national convention. He has not indicated whether he will endorse Romney.

• WILL PAUL'S FOLKS EVER BACK ROMNEY?

This is an important question for the general election. Several Paul delegates said the ultimate goal is to oust President Barack Obama and that they would reluctantly campaign for Romney if he was the other option. Others said they would never back Romney. Steve Holmes, 60, of Deer Park, said he didn't see a difference between Obama and Romney. If Ron Paul wasn't on the ballot, Holmes said, he planned to write Paul's name in. 4 More years

Literally several, like 3 or 4.

Others = all the rest. I'm in this group and so is every Ron Paul supporter that I've ever talked to.

TPS i have to say something here, it is not whether decice to vote for Romney or write in Ron Paul that is the issue of who will win the election. In my opinion if the American people have not seen what damage Obama is doing and have done to this country and want to change it it doesn't matter anyway. It believe that he is progressing in the way that the Muslim brotherhood wants him, to destroy this countries freedoms and steer it toward Islamic ways. It is not all his fault either, this country has elected Muslims to office and people who support such action. It has been happening over the years in silent mode to build a monopoly of power base needed to influence the outcome of our institutional ways. They have been running in silent mode for years waiting for the right moment which is not yet but is coming shortly. They have been appointed, elected, installed in positions of power waiting for that moment. The American people are blind to this fact. I am not against Romney for his wealth, what i don't see is he has nothing new to add in his overall speechs to correct the direction of this country. His tibets in his speechs are there only to sway voters. His vision lacks real change. Like i said the door is open for me until i step into the voting booth. I do not vote party lines. Both parties have taken on disgusting ways. If he would show me something of his sincere worth it would help some. He hasn't even released his tax returns yet as the people wanted. Yes i agree he would be better than Obama and his socialistic dictator ways but i still have to vote my conscience and will not committ until election day. I will be doing something before voting that most will not do saying a prayer to help me make the right choice. These are critical times for this country and the biggest percentage of people are still not taken it seriously. God help us all.

Who needs the Muslim brotherhood and Islamic ways with Sharia law when we have the Noachide laws. Christians and goyim beware.

Heavy i do respect your opinion at least you have bought the farm hook, line and sinker. If Romney does not spark your flavor then hey no worries at least you paying attention to what is going on instead of just down right throwing your hat in to ring right off the bat. Rothsdad well i am paying any attention to him i think i know who he is so leave it that. All of these claims of bringing the troops home from Afghanistan that is already going to happen. Cut a trillion dollars from the budget i believe that when Dogs fly. All of those promises i don't think and that is my opinion does not hold water. The Tea Party promised to cut 100 billion the first year of being charge of the house, Where is the 100 billion dollar cut? We got a credit down rating and defecting law makers to make deals. So convince me Dr Paul will make all of this happen. i don't think so. Thank you for your opinion Heavy.

TPS, did you really just have the balls to tell someone they don't like truth? Coming from the same dude that said he refused to listen or research what truthseekers bring to the table because it would destroy his false belief system... you really aren't worth a response, the only reason people respond to you is to that you don't contaminate people who don't really yet know the truth... IMO, you are definitely not part of the solution, but part of the problem that we are facing today in America.

Has the Establishment Run out of Aces in the Ongoing Charade Against Ron Paul???

There is a time to advance and a time to back off even for the corrupt. Even some corrupt officials have some discipline not to rock the boat either to keep the gravy train going. Even some crooked politicians I knew growing up made a lot of money knew better not to push people's buttons too much. I am not for corruption in government at all. I am just saying even corruption has to rely on people to produce to sustain their operation. They know better not to kill the goose that lay the golden eggs. They know their limits or they are crushed if they push too far.

The people who are attending the Bilderberger meetings are raving lunatics who feel they have no limits and they can get away with anything, including murder. They feel invincible and untouchable never to be accountable for their crimes. The super wealthy in high places in their criminality has trickled down to the lower minions doing their bidding. Now the people in government and the politicians are now thinking nothing will happen to them no matter what they do. It can be high treason and sedition violating the Logan Act. They feel they will not be convicted or have to answer to the people. Have the table finally turned against them?

We all know the RNC is not full of patriots, the Globalist, Mitt Romney, controls them and Barrack Obama are both controlled by the same powers behind the curtain. Mitt Romney is as far as it seems getting a free ride by the media. Ron Paul is a thorn in their side. Ron Paul has won many primaries and caucuses. The State Republican establishments have cheated him. They openly admit regardless if Ron Paul wins, they will not give him the victory. They will cheat and openly admit it not caring what the people think. They always say," Pride comes before the fall"

I am not ready to count my chickens before they hatch, I am not ready to give the victory to Mitt Romney being the nominee until the convention in Tampa convenes this August. I am not ready to allow the establishment to have their way ;there is so much work we can do to frustrate the other side denying them what they want. Mitt Romney and the Establishment have the media illusion. They do not have the grassroots behind them. They do not have the numbers and most of the republican voters who are stuck in Limbaugh Land stayed home because there is no excitement in Mitt being a candidate. We have the numbers to break the illusion and the monopoly on the rigged system.

Never underestimate people who are committed to see Ron Paul as the nominee. I firmly believe the year 2012 will be the year of the American people will have a clear choice to return to a constitutional form of government or a big government that steal freedoms away from the people and taxes people out of the labors. I do not believe we will have a false choice this November. I believe the committed Ron Paul people will not accept "no" for an answer when they try to pull dirty tricks or change the rules in the middle of the game to get a desired result.

The Bilderburger and their establishment puppets are on the ropes. Their meeting's agenda has been exposed and people seen their plans. It is going to be hard for them to try to implement what they want. What was whispered in ears in secret are shouted from the rooftops. Their sin has found them out with the light of truth has been exposed. We all know Gov. Romney and sitting Governor Mitch Daniels are the presumed GOP ticket by the ruling elite. Now since this is exposed with the light of truth. We run with the information to use this against the enemies of freedom.

It is not August yet in Tampa. The Establishment, which now is a term used in the media, which was never used before until recently regardless if they are establishment Republicans, or Democrats. They are both being exposed as working for the same special interest and the same agenda. They are in trouble more then they will reveal to us. They are scared for a good reason because there is a good chance they might lose.

The march for freedom if gaining momentum faster then the other side can keep up. No weapon they are using against us is prospering. They have over played their hand openly cheating Ron Paul, now this August they might be rewarded being ousted out of the leadership. It is not August yet. What are we doing today working today to defeat Romney and the political establishment. I am not ready to hand victory over to a bunch of cheats. We have not begun to fight. I believe fresh sunlight will finally shine down revealing all for the people to see. No better place to see this happen than in Florida, the Sunshine State.

Ok, everyone is missing it; look at this site for the real delegate numbers:

http://thereal2012delegatecount.com/

It ain't over yet, even though the Main Stream Media cronies want you to think so. The grassroots revolution is starting to grow and it will continue to grow and won't stop. My kids and grandchildren are on the bandwagon. We have learned a lot more this time around and although we might not win in 2012, we are sure going to make a lot of people uncomfortable because a big switcharoo is going to happen in Tampa. Newt knows whats transpiring and he can't get Hannity or anyone else to listen that Ron Paul Delegates and supporters are going to cause some major problems in Tampa because their first votes were bound; their second ones, aren't.

Don't give up, just like you aren't giving up on the RV; patience is hard, especially when you have a terrible need for something but when it happens, it will be really sweet!

GO RV, and GO Ron Paul

We believe in our Constitution. Giving up would be the equalivent to dis avowing God. Does that mean any thing to you.

Bash Ron Paul all you want. Goldaman Sachs has already won the Election!

Goldman Sachs is broke stop making excuses.

GO RV, and GO Ron Paul

that is another opinionated web site, keep believing those sites trying to keep the fire alive. Even the National Campaign manager said it is not possible to win the nomination thus you guys keep saying it aint over. You can look for any kind of hope in a website who choose to write anything to keep the money coming in and or keep people true to the cause. People are starting to see if they want to unseat the President Mitt is the man, but hey some choose not to believe that so that is ok. Write in Dr Paul if you choose that is your right. Some say the GOP has to come to them for support not necessarily. you guys can make a lot of noise but really Mitt does not need you guys. So hey you will sitting their waiting to be courted and be left home without a date to the prom. You calling everyone saying we were represented or some other excuse similar to someone without a prom date calling their friends to complain. In the end they will vote for Romney just to unseat the President.
