Finally lost my virginity

Well if any of you read my posts, you may know I've been contemplating gun ownership for almost a year. I spent the last 10 days at the range renting every brand, every model that I thought would work for me. One of the first I tried was a Glock 19, and try as i might, I could not find a pistol I liked better. That is until I tried the Glock 26 gen4. What a sweet weapon. Bought it yesterday, and am proud to say that after 62 years I have finally exercised my 2nd amendment constitutional right. Now for a couple of classes, and probably a cc permit. I feel very calm about my well being.

Good for you

As promised guys and gals I'm back with report on my trip to the range with MY glock. Got some questions answered from Ivan who runs the range and headed for my lane with 100 rounds of practice ammo. Loaded my magazine with the loading tool included with the glock. I wish I had one of those when I started my shopping and maybe my thumbnails wouldn't feel like they had been cut 1/2" into the quick.

Placed my target in the same spot as usual, loaded my glock (being very cautious and respectful), aimed and fired...hmm...missed my mark by about 1.5". Thought about it and realized I had violently jerked the trigger. Concentrated on controlled squeeze and voila, on my target. To make a long story short, 98 rounds later, I had only 2 or 3 shots that were more than an inch off, and when finished, my 2 targets had a whole bunch of wholes all together, with some of them quite large from multiple hits.

I am sooooo pleased with my purchase, easy to load/unload, very nice weight and balance, minimal recoil...the gen4 does make a difference...and best of all, it's so accurate that it even makes a newbie feel proud of his marksmanship.

Sorry to ramble, but I'm kinda pumped! Regarding ammo, do any of you glock owners use an ammo that seems particularly suited for your gun?

Thanks, yall

That is a nice gun! Another good pistol is the M&P 9MM Smith & Wesson. I love it too!!!!!!!!!

What do you have?

Well I'll just say , bumper and I could be the same person as far as collections of Guns go. but that's as far as I will go. I don't like to show and tell online

it could bite me in the arse down the road, with the Gov. so pro socialist.I was refering to the AR-15 gas system, Piston or direct Impingement

The M&P Smith is a great pistol, but the 9mm was overhyped back in the day, and I would not use anything under a .40 cal in auto's that is

I would like to have the S&W .460 wheel gun for deer hunting........sweet

Great choice. I own 5 of those pieces. From a 45 to 9mm. I carry the 27 and love it my wife carrys a 39. If you want real fire power go buy 2 model 19 mags. That will give you 39 rounds to practice with before reloading. I think it is wonderful that Americans are practing our rights to protect themselves. I pray you never have to pull it out of the holster. But if you do you will not regret useing it to protect yourself or your family.

Bet to you........... :twothumbs::P

Congrats to you! The Glock wouldn't be my first choice (my service weapon at work is a G-22 Gen4, and I bought my old 22 when dept. bought us the Gen 4s--not a big fan but the price was right!!!) but if it wokrs for you the best that's all that matters. I wanted to point out something I haven't seen anyone else mention though, especially if you intend to carry. Please take a few classes in handgun retention. This goes for everyone out there who carries and either hasn't already done so or hasn't thought about it. May people don't realize how easy it is to disarm someone. This is very important . Please consider it, and enjoy getting to know that 26!!

Thanks for the advice, Ortho. I was talking to a fellow pool league member and he mentioned that if an attacker is 19 feet away, that he can disarm you before you can shoot your holstered pistol. I got to thinking about that and I will find some retention classes in my area.

Orthophonic is right. Another very important thing to consider is how you will carry it, and the holster you'll use. A g19 is a little smaller than the g22 i used to have and depending on your size shouldn't be too difficult for inside the wasteband carry. But, the how you carry is entirely up to you, lot's of ways and draw techniques. There are so many holster choices out there it's not even funny. Some good ones, some bad ones and some great ones. Find a good quality and comfortable one for your pistol and backup mags and you'll be in business.

Definetely practice with whatever you carry them with. I'd also recommend getting some night sights like Meprolight or Trijicon to replace the factory ones, got those on my SIGs.. in low light or dark environments they are invaluable. Plus they last a long time. Um, I find it never hurts to have a couple different holster types for different modes of carry ;) I love my blackhawk serpas level 1 and 2.. not great for concealed carry though lol. Congrats on your purchase too, I love stories like this. Peace.

Regarding ammo I have had several Fail to Feed with my g22 when using Federal .40 JHP (jacketed hollow point) 155gr. Not the same caliber or model, but still. Works great in everything else I have. Quality stuff like Hornady TAP or Critical Defense, Remington Gold Saber, Winchester Ranger, are good for carry and practice. Kinda pricey but worth it. Just be a little cautious with anything +P (higher pressure). One more thing and I'll shut up lol; some types of hollow points (which are what most people use for carry/ self defense) have a longer bullet than others. The diameter is the same, so is the case length, but the 'point' can sometimes extend beyond the magazine or not fit or feed. Depends on the gun/ magazine. Just something to be aware of.

Yes, anywhere from 19 to 22 feet is considered minimum safe distance. Really makes you think. Good points about holsters too. Triple retention is very good, but I'm not sure if there are any out there that aren't designed to be used on a duty belt.

All I have to say is that I need to get a bigger safe!!biggrin.gif

Started shooting with my dad at 11. I was his little tom boy when it came to building black powder guns and flint locks. Never forget when dad stacked up a bunch of hay bails in the basement. Mom about jumped out of her skin when we test fired one of the black powder guns. It stunk the whole house up not to mention that it scared the you know what out of her!emot-woot.gif Black powder is not all I own and I do carry a concealed weapons permit of which I am darn proud of.tongue.gif

th_smiley_two_thumbs_up.gifCongrats on loosing your virginity wpsmit!!!!th_smiley_two_thumbs_up.gif

I love my rights and hope I can keep them because if I loose those rights I will never give up my guns!!
