pluMmet Posted February 8, 2013 Report Share Here is the info that helped me and helped me a lot...Food Matters - This was free for a long time but now does not seem to be...it is my favorite and very informative and is available on Netflix FoodMatters Here is a great movie (very popular) that is someone who is fed up with living poorly and an extreme juicing program. Though no one really would need to go thru this, this is actually a great documentary and you learn a lot about how nutrition really feeds the body also available on Netflix.http://www.hulu.com/watch/289122/fat-sick-and-nearly-deadHere Is the Gerson info. He and his family have been curing people for a long time. Doctor who cured her own M.S. with raw foods... Just remember that she looked thru medical database and found no help (also mentioned in food matters) and had to design this on her own not realizing that it had already been done by Gerson years before and she had not figured out that juicing the vegetables makes it way easier to do Take your time and learn this stuff and you will know what has eluded us for soooo long.As far as Juicers it’s a bit expensive to get the “best” juicer. The best by far is the Omega VRT 350.As seen here http://www.amazon.com/Omega-VRT350-Dual-Stage-Vertical-Single/dp/B00434JINO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324552447&sr=8-1It has loads of 5 and 4 star reviews. I did a lot of research before buying this one and I can say it is great. It’s a slow speed, quiet, masticating juicer (which means it press the juice out of the fruit and vegetables as opposed to a centrifugal juicer which shreds them.)What is more important than having the best juicer is just having a juicer and you can get one for $20 or $30 off of Craig’s List. One bit of info that helps is when people start juicing they use healthy stuff to make the juice but it tastes terrible and that makes you stop juicing. The general concept is to use stuff like apples, pineapples and carrots as a base then add some of the other healthy vegetables in in quantities that still allow the juice to taste sweet. Here is a great base idea on a very delicious and healthy way to juice: In this video he was supposed to put ¼ avocado per serving (so ½ avocado for the two of them) into a blender with the juice and 8 cubes of ice per serving and blend for 40 sec’s or so. I also would add ½ Tsp of Spirulina per serving as well but his blender did not show up in time to record. If you are going to get any book on juicing “7 pounds in 7 days” is the best… not to do the diet if you don’t want but the information and his recipes are great. Also the Omega VRT 350 came out after this guy did any of his videos. That is basically it.One last important thing, most things are great to juice whole like lemons but with lemons you need to take the skin off (leaving the pith) while most other stuff you would leave the skin on. Celery is the one of most important things to make sure you get Organic as celery very easily absorbs pesticides. So for the celery you should try for a Whole Foods type place to get them.

greeneyedlady Posted May 7, 2013 Report Share Coconut (Cocos nucifera) The Tree of Life The scientific name for coconut is Cocos nucifera. Early Spanish explorers called it coco, which means "monkey face" because the three indentations (eyes) on the hairy nut resembles the head and face of a monkey. Nucifera means "nut-bearing." The coconut provides a nutritious source of meat, juice, milk, and oil that has fed and nourished populations around the world for generations. On many islands coconut is a Harvested coconuts lined up on the beach. staple in the diet and provides the majority of the food eaten. Nearly one third of the world's population depends on coconut to some degree for their food and their economy. Among these cultures the coconut has a long and respected history. Coconut is highly nutritious and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It is classified as a "functional food" because it provides many health benefits beyond its nutritional content. Coconut oil is of special interest because it possesses healing properties far beyond that of any other dietary oil and is extensively used in traditional medicine among Asian and Pacific populations. Pacific Islanders consider coconut oil to be the cure for all illness. The coconut palm is so highly valued by them as both a source of food and medicine that it is called "The Tree of Life." Only recently has modern medical science unlocked the secrets to coconut's amazing healing powers. Coconut In Traditional Medicine People from many diverse cultures, languages, religions, and races scattered around the globe have revered the coconut as a valuable source of both food and medicine. Wherever the coconut palm grows the people have learned of its importance as a effective medicine. See Research to read some of the published studies regarding the above mentioned uses of coconut products. Coconut Oil While coconut possesses many health benefits due to its fiber and nutritional content, it's the oil that makes it a truly remarkable food and medicine. Once mistakenly believed to be unhealthy because of its high saturated fat content, it is now known that the fat in coconut oil is a unique and different from most all other fats and possesses many health giving properties. It is now gaining long overdue recognition as a nutritious health food. Coconut oil has been described as "the healthiest oil on earth." That's quite a remarkable statement. What makes coconut oil so good? What makes it different from all other oils, especially other saturated fats? The difference is in the fat molecule. All fats and oils are composed of molecules called fatty acids. There are two methods of classifying fatty acids. The first you are probably familiar with, is based on saturation. You have saturated fats, monounsaturated fats, and polyunsaturated fats. Another system of classification is based on molecular size or length of the carbon chain within each fatty acid. Fatty acids consist of long chains of carbon atoms with hydrogen atoms attached. In this system you have short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), and long-chain fatty acids (LCFA). Coconut oil is composed predominately of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), also known as medium-chain triglycerides (MCT). The vast majority of fats and oils in our diets, whether they are saturated or unsaturated or come from animals or plants, are composed of long-chain fatty acids (LCFA). Some 98 to 100% of all the fatty acids you consume are LCFA. The size of the fatty acid is extremely important. Why? Because our bodies respond to and metabolize each fatty acid differently depending on its size. So the physiological effects of MCFA in coconut oil are distinctly different from those of LCFA more commonly found in our foods. The saturated fatty acids in coconut oil are predominately medium-chain fatty acids. Both the saturated and unsaturated fat found in meat, milk, eggs, and plants (including most all vegetable oils) are composed of LCFA. MCFA are very different from LCFA. They do not have a negative effect on cholesterol and help to protect against heart disease. MCFA help to lower the risk of both atherosclerosis and heart disease. It is primarily due to the MCFA in coconut oil that makes it so special and so beneficial. There are only a very few good dietary sources of MCFA. By far the best sources are from coconut and palm kernel oils.

dontlop Posted May 10, 2013 Report Share (edited) Using glycerin requires consistency; every day skipped sets you back 2 or 3. As Eli's Mom notes, there are stages. Roughly, they are:1. easing of flaking and itching2. Exposure of underlying skin in a bright red patch (excess capillaries that supplied the P.-skin).3. Changing to pink as capillaries close off.4. Mottling and breakup of patch.5. Shrinking of each sub-patch.6. Clearing of skin.7. If some discoloration is left, continued use will get rid of that over a period of weeks. off that same web site in the comments section .. kinda like what i said . the first few times you use it it will absorb it very quickly .. watch it ,, as soon as it turns white again reapply the oil.. and soon it will be completly full and wont be able to absorb any more .. then just keep up the 2 or three times a day applications till its gone . i think its oxeidation of some kind .. cut off the oxegen supply by smothering it in oil most people wont listen to this advice .. because a doctor will try to sell you his products and you pay for the doctors visits .. as long as you keep coming back the doctor is happy. they say oh ya .. you know more than my doctor .. lol .. i know what i have seen with my own eyes .. thats what i know . Your post got me thinking. So I went and did some research - and found out there is a link to cellular oxidative stress and some skin conditions. http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/ben/cdtia/2005/00000004/00000004/art00016 "The skin is exposed to endogenous and environmental pro-oxidant agents, leading to the harmful generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The resulting oxidative stress damages proteins, lipids, and DNA. An imbalance between ROS and antioxidants can lead to an elevated oxidative stress level. Some evidence indicates that allergic and inflammatory skin diseases like atopic dermatitis, urticaria and psoriasis are mediated by oxidative stress." I have neighbors whose 7 YO daughter also has this condition. Her dermatologist had her using a steroid cream twice a day - which she hated because it burned when she put it on. I had them spraying her with something that helps balance out cellular chemicals to reduce oxidative stress, (and it didn't burn) and it has helped a lot. I will let them know about the glycerin. Great find.! Like you - " i know what i have seen with my own eyes .. thats what i know."

Goldiegirl Posted May 13, 2013 Report Share Just an FYI, as a Homeopath I will say that anything skin related is being expressed by "internal" dis-ease. The body is pushing the disease outward to the skin because it is the one organ that can do the least amount of harm if it carries pathogens. To suppress the skin with any kind of topical creams, ointments, or steroids will force the body to find another organ to express the disease. Too many Western Medicine doctors think the skin is the disease when in fact it is the expression of the inner disease. You don't want to cover up or make it go away, because you don't know what organ it will travel to next....the kidney, liver or lungs. Best to find out why the disease is in the body in the first place and get that treated. Treat the disease and the skin issue will go away. I am dealing with this right now with my own dog. Two holistic vets and neither of them figured out what the underlying cause was and was treating the skin...until I put a stop to it and it was almost too late. We have a long way to go to recovery but at least the skin is no longer being suppressed...and yes it got worse for a while and it's not pretty but his health is improved more so than when it was being suppressed. Even witch hazel or tea tree oil is considered a suppression substance. Coconut oil is an amazing product for many good ailments if taken internally. I have a some good links on it that I can post here in case anyone is interested.
Goldiegirl Posted May 13, 2013 Report Share (edited) Here is something else you might be interested in about Oil of Oregano. I also googled his book and downloaded the PDF for free. Dr Cass Igram book, the cure is in the cupboard. http://www.ebookweb.org/the-cure-is-in-the-cupboard-pdf-download-free/-687985417/ According to Dr. Ingram, infections play a much larger role in public health than we recognize and medical doctors frequently overlook infection as the underlying cause of illness or disease. For example, a variety of diseases such as arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, eczema, sinusitis, peptic ulcer, cancer, fibromyalgia and gastritis are frequently caused by chronic infections that are overlooked and never treated. When infection is identified, in the case of a flu or wart, doctors have little to offer except antibiotics or anti-fungal drugs that are known for their toxic effects on the body and have no guarantee of working. This is why oil of oregano has been so well received. It is safe and it is effective. It eradicates all types of infections found in the human system; from the ones you know about to the ones you don't. And, because it's not patented, you don't need a prescription; it can be self-administered whenever an infection is suspected or taken as a preventative to stop infections from arising. Heavyduty053 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Share Sometimes we over look natural things that will do the same things as high priced meds. For instance LEMONS, they have about 45 or more useful purposes in our daily lives.......One is how to block and prevent KIDNEY STONES....Regular consumption of a refreshing drink for those plagued by continuing Kidney Stones need to try this. Regular consumption of the refreshing drink, just a small amount by itself -- or even lemon juice mixed with water--may increase your production of urinary citrate, a chemical in the urine that prevents the formation of crystals that may try to build up in the kidney's and form painful stones.
