k98nights
Government plans to control independent bodies, says Ubaidi Sunday, 15 April 2012 08:47 | | | Baghdad (AIN) –MP Suhad al-Ubaidi of the Iraqiya Slate revealed that “The Government plans to control all independent bodies and establishments of the State, including the Independent High Electoral Commission and the Central Bank of Iraq.” She stated to All Iraq News Agency Sunday “The government intends to control the IHEC because the provincial Councils’ elections are close,” noting that “Detaining head of the IHEC Faraj al-Haidari is fabricated case to pressurize the performance of the Commission to win the next elections.” “The ministries and high posts of the State suffer from major corruption cases more serious than the case of Haidari but the government neglects them,” according to MP Ubaidi. She stressed “I believe there will be a political agreement over the IHEC and the next nominee to head IHEC will be a follower for the Government.” Concerning the CBI, Ubaidi warned that “The government works to associate the CBI to the Council of Ministers which is violation for the constitution.” The government does not want to keep the Central Bank of Iraq independent despite the success it achieved along the past years in administering the Iraqi economy, she concluded. Detaining Haidari and his assistant Ali al-Timimi has caused angry reactions among the politicians, since the opposition of the government considered it for political reasons. /End/ http://www.alliraqnews.com/en/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8151:government-plans-to-control-independent-bodies-says-ubaidi-&catid=42:2011-11-19-15-21-
