Okay... There has been a lot of news, good news if I may, about the GoI getting things done. There have been plenty of rumors from known sources, such as Okie, Bulldog, Delta, Med, Mailman and the like, as well as from "new" rumor sources talking about April May, June, September, and even as far out as December. This infomration, much like any numbers game, can be manipulated to 'create' any "story" the reader wants to 'read in to'. Granted, I too feel that we are closer and it could go any day now but let's try stay as optimitically objective, or catiously optimistic, as possible. There have been plenty of 'golden moments' for the RV and they have come and gone without so much as a whimper.

Iraqiya is doing what any rival political faction would do, attempt make their opponents looks weak, foolish, incompetent, and dictatorial (almost reminescient of Saddam, IMHO). While PM Maliki really needs no outside help in doing this, he has been able to run some sembelances of a government. The CBI is educating the people on what is going to happen and why, this takes time. Bear in mind that while Iraq does have a lot of resources and a lot of potential capital, they've been bombed back to the stone age and brought back. We pretty much pushed the 'reset' button on these guys so while they may have an idea of what to do, they're learning how to do it in a democratic nature. The World, not just the Arab World, has been subject to their part in the Marshall Plan ("Beg Thy Neighbor" per se) with regards to Iraq and has had enough. The Arab League Summit was pretty much the cutting of the umbilical cord and now Iraq is on their own. It's now up to the GoI to fulfill the requirements of Chap 7 (although this thread alludes to its' successful conclusion) and PM Maliki really should abide by the Erbil agreement(s) but as he is a politician and this is the GoI's first real chance to stand as an independant functioning government (I'll say 'sovereign AFTER Chap 7 is lifted), I'd expect him to do no less than try to scramble for as much 'loose' power as he can while giving the facade of caring for his people.

All I can ask is that we all stay professional, objective, and patient. Continue to do research, both pre and post RV, make legitimate, feasible and acceptable plans for what you have and how you plan to deal with it, and if at all possible, be willing to share your information to those who earnestly want to know. Life has enough stress on it's own, no need to add extra.

Sorry for the essay but I felt the need to speak my mind as rationally and politely as possible. Not trying to be a naysayer, Debbie Downer, stick in the mud, fly in the ointment, etc. However, if you feel I have, I'd like my steak medium well, loaded mashed potatoes, steam brocolli with cheese, a slice of strawberry cheescake, a bottle of Moscato d'Asti, and a lit Newport 100. I prefer my blind fold to be silk but I'll accept egyptian cotton if I must. You may fire when ready.
