MP for the coalition in Iraq Talal Zobaie Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki announcing his resignation for failing to offer any service to the citizen and especially with regard to the security file, he says.

He said in a press statement today: 'The government was unable to provide day services for the Iraqi people and especially with regard to the security file. "

Zobaie said: 'The victim of the martyrs who go to security breaches as well as the armies of widows and orphans left behind by those violations warrant of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki announced his resignation for failing to offer any service for the Iraqi people'.

There is NO way he would throw in the towel before the big Summit, the only way I can see this being true is if they're in a crunch to get things done and he was forced to leave.

Your are so right. He loves his power too much. I doubt he would get assassinated. He might get charges though. But I hope he is gone and we can get a government. I would love to be wrong about Maliki but too many people have died, been put in jail, been tortured in secret prisons under his watch. And dang the most important to us is a fully seated government.
