dog53 Posted October 7, 2012 Report Share This is my first build. You wanna start out with a good base I selected a Springfield 1911 A1 Got rid of the arched main spring housing and went with a checkered flat one. Replaced the main spring with a heavy duty Wilson combat spring. New trigger and heavier hammer , Extended slide release New beaver tailed grip safety. Installed a ambidextrous safety. added a compensator. A customer who is a jeweler jeweled the slide and WA-LA Dogs first barbecue gun hahahaha and yes this gun runs perfectly. Thought you gun guys might enjoy. It`s very easy to do and there`s a lot of satisfaction in it.

Thought you gun guys might enjoy. It`s very easy to do and there`s a lot of satisfaction in it. That is some nice additions to your 1911 dog, very cool look. I used to have a slim line 1911 that I liked pretty well. I tried to mount a laser site on it myself but could never get it quite right. I gave that one to a friend. What I am looking for now though is as nice of a compact gun as I can get for CC... something with enough fire power in a pinch but still very concealable. Here is one fella's list of top 5 choices... And here are 5 good choices for 9mm's... I wouldn't mind a little feedback in this department if ya'll want to. Even thinking of a lighter gun for my wife, but then the challenge is getting her comfortable with it.
dog53 Posted October 7, 2012 Report Share Colt defender is a good choice. They are also making a cheaper version of the same gun call the colt new agent . defender new agent Both good choices for CC. small Light weight but still delivers that famous .45 punch for the wife the copperhead is a good choice .380 (9mm short ) min recoil

PowerGeneration Posted October 19, 2012 Report Share Lets see I have seen a auto 12 gauge and a bunch of small pistols and you could reach out and touch someone with that .338 I like to see rodandstaff lug that heavy 12 gauge and 300 rounds across the battlefield and then you would be out of ammo in a minute.AR-15 what a laugh while in Iraq these weapons didnt have any range while the enemy carries a AK-47 with a long range! THE 338 is the way to go in war anyone carrying a small pistol or rifle would'nt be for long. We should'nt need any guns they are for people who dont know how to fight with there fists! Dont get me wrong I have my desert eagle issue sidearm but its heavy and kicks like a mule I dont like it! you would have to get a tank to travel next to you like that A12 to carry those heavy rounds and a bunch of them. Plus its short range just like most pistols.Might as well use a crossbow at least it is quiet! If you sit still waiting on your enemy your dead! they have FLIR (forward looking infared) too ya know. sniper weapons are the way to go and a gilly suit. M1 garand .308 .338 or .50 cal with computor generated sites (5mile range) with nato rounds.Isnt that funny you have to use approved Nato rounds to fight a war.In war I saw what works and what didnt. I think I will go with the most deadliest weapon of all THE RED RIDER BB-GUN because it'll shoot your eye out! or a super soaker filled with chlorinated acid it eats everything except PVC. I believe in 1 shot 1 kill why waste precious ammo? silencers are extree Or the badest arse weapon of all The peace pens! black ink only! 1
RodandStaff Posted October 20, 2012 Author Report Share I am borrowing this definition from another thread... given by Snotrocket... best I've ever heard. The Great Equalizer.....why I carry a gun...Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that’s it. In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some. When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force. The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender. There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we’d be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger’s potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat—it has no validity when most of a mugger’s potential marks are armed. People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that’s the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly. Then there’s the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury his argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser. People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don’t constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level. The gun is the only weapon that’s as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldn’t work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn’t both lethal and easily employable. When I carry a gun, I don’t do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I’m looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don’t carry it because I’m afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... And that’s why carrying a gun is a civilized act. Read more: http://dinarvets.com.../#ixzz29nBDKN3X Like the quote says....
