Anti-*** wave of violence claims 42 lives in a month

08/03/2012 16:52

EBRIL, March 8 (AKnews) - A wave of anti-*** killings has left 42 men and women dead within a month, according to human rights groups.

Iraqis thought to act or look like homosexuals are being hunted down and murdered in Baghdad and Basra, with acts as extreme as smashing concrete blocks over their heads or pushing them off the roof of a building.

The situation has escalated since the first killing on February 6. 42 men and women are believed to have been kidnapped, tortured and murdered, according to the Organization of Women’s Freedom in Iraq and the Iraqi LGBT.

The groups report that the most common methods involve concrete blocks but some have also been dismembered or pushed off roofs.

The attacks began earlier last month when unidentified, Shiite militant groups posted lists of names and ages on the several walls in the Sadr City neighborhood, in Habibea.

Believing the listed members to be *** or lesbian, they were accused of being "adulterous individuals" and given four days to change their ways or face the wrath of Allah.

In April of 2009, six men were killed under circumstances that appeared to be hate-crimes against homosexuals.

In the same month, a group known as 'Fazilat' (Virtue) posted lists targeting people identified as *** on the walls of the Sadr City neighborhood, threatening death and stating "we will soon punish all you perverts".

Cary Alan Johnson, Executive Director of the International *** and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, said : "There are no excuses for such heinous human rights violations.

"We demand that the Iraqi Government put a stop to the wanton persecution and killing of *** people, and that the perpetrators punished."

This infuriates me... that people could be so cruel to someone because of their sexual preferences. It's right up there with the Salem witch trials! May God have mercy on THEIR souls for THEY are the offenders, not the innocent people! The people doing this are just looking for some kind, any kind, of reason to torture people.

Mercy? I say eye for an eye.

Wow after reading this and the article about stoning kids for having long hair and looking "EMO" it just crystalizes the fact (at least to me) that these religious extremists are truly lead by satan himself. Jesus said "you will know them by their fruits"

Its disturbing to realize how insideous Satan is by leading a group to Kill in the Name of God not knowing thats the last thing he would ask of them. God must be Horrified at mans ability to twist his will to suit their sick predjudices
