* Iraqi List waiting for a formal response to its list of candidates for Defense Minister

February 17th, 2012 11:11 am · Posted in NEWS (Iraq & World Currency)

Baghdad, February 17 (Rn) – The Iraqi List led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi Friday it waiting for a reply formally to the list of candidates for the defense portfolio that provided earlier in showed that it has a list of other candidates are just as experienced and efficient than the former candidates.

And Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki during a meeting last year give him the confidence to work on naming ministers of the ministries that are run through a proxy weeks, but that did not happen because of differences between the blocks on some of the names of candidates to fill the bags of the security ministries.

The leading figure in the list Dhafir al-Ani told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that “the Iraqi List, was nominated earlier in the group names to fill the defense portfolio and we believe that the candidates of the Iraqi List, enjoy the capacity, efficiency and professionalism and if there is a different opinion about our candidates is assumed to be of opinion in a formal way.”

Yes they do sound civil about it but I also smell a little wolf. They say they'll have this done before the conference or whatever they're calling it now so lets see if they can do it. This would be a nice piece to drop into the RV puzzle.

And dress that wolf in sheep's clothing. Just what Iraq needs a military minister with affilliations to The List, poised for a military coup at Allawi's call. Not good. Not smart. Not wise. Mutlag called Maliki a dictator, Heshimi is on the run from the Iraqi justice department on 150 charges of acts of terrorism, and Allawi totally expects to have a member of his camp appointed. It does not paint a happy picture. huh.gif

IMO, the only way Maliki will allow a member of the list into that position, is if he's had enough time to get his own people embedded several layers deep into the military, so that a coup wouldn't even be possible. Actually, a smart way to do it, if that's been the plan......

Maliki is no dumby. What if he were to pull a rabbit out of the hat and it looked like a military man from Peshmarga. That would quiet Allawi and go miles to promoting Erbil and HCL. JMHOsmile.gif

JMHO, but this could just be a political move by the List. If Maliki doesn't accept their guys this time, they might have an excuse to delay or cancel the national meeting. I think they are trying to force Maliki to accept someone, which unless he is truly trying to get this done, he will probably reject them all, and then it will get interesting. I hope this gets done, but looking at past history, Maliki doesn't seem to work under their pressure. :(

Time will tell.

Go RV!!!

If it's a trick, it isn't a very sneaky one. Since the announcement of this meeting, the seating of the Ministers has always been on the agenda, along with the supreme council, article 140, pay for the peshmerga and possibly the HCL - in short, it's been framed as "Erbil Agreement, 2.0". Everyone has finally called out Maliki on doing his share of the very agreement that put him in office.

The encouraging part is that he has warmed to the idea of cooperating on most, if not all of their demands. I still think he is unwilling to discuss Hashemi and Mutlaq, but we'll see. Obviously, Maliki needs or wants everyone working together. The problem is, he always wants more in return. Hopefully, we here at DV believe the RV is the goal, or at least part of it.

You know I believe Allawi worked very hard to put as many stumbeling blocks in front of Maliki as he could, and for awhile people actually believed Allawi was the better man for the job. Well now more and more truths are coming out about Allawi , Sadr and the entire List, Everyone is starting to Rally around Maliki and help him get this country up and running as the true players they should be, I think all matters like HCL, Erbil, Chapter 7 and GOI will all be full speed ahead now. JMO :D
