Official Spokesperson of Iraqiya, law maker Maysoun al-Damalouji expressed surprise over the “provocative language” of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in his speech on the Dawa Party anniversary.

In a statement to the press on Sunday, Feb. 12, Damalouji said, “The speech is an outrageous challenge to the Constitution, principle of national harmony and the spirit of partnership, while Iraqiya bloc showed flexibility toward providing environment for holding the National Meeting, which we see in it a qualitative move for Iraq’s political situation; it feels sorry for such escalated language.”

She added, “The tense statement that are made at a time the Preparatory Committee for the National Meeting beginning, it poisons the political atmosphere, which is an unacceptable escalation, unless it aims to foil the National Meeting even before it begins.”

Damalouji pointed, “Maliki’s rejection of some province’s demands to become regions, regardless of whether we do support them or not, is a flagrant challenge to a constitutional right makes him accountable.”

She went on saying that Iraqiya is keen on making the National Meeting successful, which it will contribute toward its success with a clear vision aiming to rectify the path of the political process and treat its shortcomings. / End.

Not a great way to start a unification meeting. Hopefully there are some adults in the room!
