It's just mind-boggling that a country as wealthy as Kuwait, with as few people - would keep bleeding poor Iraq whilst they're trying to get on their feet! All the money sent over there could've made bajillionaires out of each & every human there already! I think it needs to stop.

You've got to be kidding, right? Saddams Iraqi army tear-asses through Kuwait tearing up the joint and killing it's people. Kuwait deserves the compensation. Iraq needs to step up and take care of it. The trouble with this world is people don't want to accept responsibility for their actions.

Grow up. Step up. Do the right thing, BECAUSE it is right, not because your forced to.

Not to be argumentative but Kuwait did sorta start the conflict with the drilling of Iraq's oil. I know that Saddam shoulda coulda taken a much different action but being the jerk that he was he figured he would just take back what he felt was rightfully his. NOT defending him in any way....but for every reaction there is a previous action.

When my husband was in Kuwait at the start of the war he said that the percentage of Kuwaiti's that work is pretty low....they get paid through the oil and foreign nationals did all the grunt work.

Yes they deserve compensation for what Saddam did.....

They're going after the wrong people -

the proceeds should be taken from the Bathists, Saddams people, not the people that were suppressed by him and his regime!

Find Saddams family and take it from THEM! and from any future proceeds Saddams faction still in-country would be entitled to.

And Thanks, FLINT for settin TheFish straight... short memories around here - sheesh! <_<

Oh right I get it,. Drilling their oil was a good justifiable excuse to cross the border and kill folks. I'm sure that makes the innocent dead and their families feel much better. And speakin of short memories, wasn't most of this compensation for those families of the dead and the owners of destroyed personal property? (oil companies be damned...):blink:

Never said it was a good justifiable reason. In fact I said he shoulda coulda gone about it in a much better way....but he was not a sane diplomatic person.

Compensations are for the families of the dead and for destruction of the properties. But I do agree with SgtFury....take it from the parties involved...don't further punish the people of Iraq who suffered under Saddam's rule.

I also stated that Kuwait does deserve to be compensated.
