smee2
It was my misunderstanding it seems, that historically, Muslim law allows a man four wives so the duties of wife in a Muslim home can be shared, under whatever system they agree on. Divorce ... on a religious basis ... was, at one time, just a matter of saying "I divorce thee" three times to the wife's face and with a witness present. It was frequently done so the man could marry someone else. Most often the cast off wife would have children she could go and live with. Mother-in-law in the house ... *shudder*. So, I don't see the need to kill a wife if it is easy to "dump" her. The news item also mentions more of this sort of thing happening, something about phsychiatrists, and that "they have psychological pressures and changes in the Iraqi society after the events of 2003". If, indeed, divorce is not an easy way out, I can understand that a man might be frustrated when the wife in question is causing problems between him and his younger wife. There has to be pressure ... two women in the house ... *cringe* But the story does bring the Iraqi people closer in some ways ... they shoot their wives in spite of their great religious convictions just like frustrated husbands do in the west. uncirculd
Like the stoning of Soraya M. Just tells lies and get a witness. So wrong.
pattyangel
As you said Smee, why couldn't he just face her and say "I divorce thee, I divorce thee, I divorce thee" and walk away. I throw my hands in the air of disgust... there is no reason to take a life just cause she was causing a problem with the other wives. She was someones sister, aunt, cousin or mother. The family suffers in all cases like this. More and more of this is becoming so common, in some cases children are involved. Where does this evil all end. Now coffee can do me good right now. Carrello
Did anyone catch the news yesterday where an American went to a place of work and shot three co-workers, tried to cowardly take his own life, and did not succeed?
CrappieShark
This man was a very disturbed individual. When I am angry at my wife I go fishing. Just not hearing her angry voice has a healing effect. Because usually she is right. Not always but usually. It gives me time to reflect on me and what the argument is about. Then I can initiate change within myself. Copyrighted poetical moment Destiny In life there are many trials In love there are many wonders One fulfills destiny The other brings destiny to us. To meet one in life whom you love this is called a miracle To change one's life whom you love this is called a lie For love does not change things Unless out of love we change ourselves and life will go on whether love grows or dies But can a true love die? I think not because of God Whom out of love wrapped Himself in flesh and gave His life Without life destiny is over Without love destiny is dead So let's you and I not die, but share life together with love. As I said this man must have been a tormented individual to have killed all those memories. He left behind the cruelist of all momories.
