The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the ongoing strategic dialogue between Iraq and the United States.
The ministry said in a statement that the Iraqi delegation, headed by Senior Undersecretary Abdul Karim Hashem, held with the United States government delegation the first session of the strategic dialogue via a closed television circuit, in accordance with the strategic framework agreement signed in the year eighty-eight.
The statement added that the first session of the dialogue was devoted to discussing economic, political, security and cultural relations between the two countries, noting that the two delegations confirmed their efforts to consolidate relations under the new government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi.
He continued, that this session will be the beginning of a series of other sessions of the strategic dialogue in the hope that the next session will be held directly in Washington when the appropriate conditions are available.
