  1. There are stories that find their way into your heart and decide to stay there forever. This is one that found its way into mine. There was once an elderly woman who lived in a violent, drug- ravaged, crumbling neighborhood in an old city. Her children had died along the years before her and time had left its mark on her to. She had suffered the heartache of watching her children being lowered into the ground and thinking this is not how life is supposed to be, not my children before me. Her beauty had gave way to the wrinkles, the age marks and the withered face that shows the years of life that not been so kind to her. She was no longer pretty in the eyes of the world. Her back was bent, the body had given way to crippling arthritis accompanied by a thin hollow eyed appearance. Still this little old lady continually brought joy to the community around her. Everyone called her "Granny" and she was a loving Grandmother to all. She replaced her love she had to share with all who knew her. Each time she moved slowly down the street sidewalk heading to the corner market or just around the block for a walk, she sing hymn's and always had a smile. Always had a kind word for everyone who took a moment to speak before walking on. Even though the thugs came around and sold their drugs, they did not bother her because they knew the people of that neighborhood would beat them severely. She gave her gentle laughter as a free gift to all, she listened to their troubles and offered encouragement from her years of knowledge. Granny would offer to pray with anyone in need to speak to God. there was not one person who ever met her went away without their load being lightened or their heart feeling like they could get through the day. She knew she always helped them in some small way because they would leave with at least a little smile on their faces, something that maybe wasn't there before. Her serenity and tranquility remained a mystery to the neighborhood. No one could ever figure out how someone who had lost so much and suffered the anguish of life could have such a beautiful outlook on life. One day a curious little girl ran up to the tiny frail old woman shuffling along with her walker and called out to her. "How do you do it Granny", she asked. "How do you love so freely? How do you live so happily?. How do you give so much to all of us everyday?. Granny just smiled at her and said, "Because God loves me child! Because he gives me strength and hope!, and he is going to throw away this old body and give me a new one when he sends the angels to get me. I love him and he loves me and I share that with everyone. This is a true story and the glorious truth she shared sure touched many hearts. There is no better reason for any of us to live this life than that. If we are assured that Jesus will be waiting to shake our hand and hug us for holding on to his truth, then have nothing to fear. Our lives will be in eternity with the one who gave us life to begin with........May God look upon you and cause you to look up and set your paths straight as he walks with you each day........Amen
