Deputy: Burning wheat and barley farms terrorism in an economic tone Political | 10:17 - 19/05/2019 BAGHDAD - The governor of Diyala province, Burhan al-Mamouri, said on Sunday that the burning operations that hit a number of wheat and barley farms, is a "terrorism" with an economic tone. "We strongly condemn the deliberate burning of wheat and barley farms in some provinces," Al-Mamouri said in a statement received by Mawazine News. He called on the competent authorities to compensate the affected farmers. He added that "there are hidden hands practiced terrorism of another kind of economic color," noting that "these hands once targeted livestock and once the fish and others and this time came the role on the farms of wheat and barley." He pointed out that "these fires caused heavy losses to farmers," calling on local governments and security leaders to "take responsibility and take the necessary measures to maintain economic wealth." He explained that "these fires came after Iraq approached the stage of self-sufficiency," stressing that "the need to follow up the terrorist cells that seek to hit the national economy."
