Economie Fri, Jun 3 2022 10:34 AM National News Center / Baghdad Today, Friday, the Ministry of Commerce announced that the laws in force prevent Iraq from entering the World Trade Organization, while indicating a new vision for the country to join this organization. The ministry’s spokesman, Muhammad Hanoun, said in a statement to the National News Center that “Iraq has been seeking for years to join the World Trade Organization,” stressing the “necessity of enacting laws that are compatible with the decisions in which the organization operates.” He added that “the ministry is a governmental institution, like other ministries, subject to laws that prevent entry to this large organization,” calling on the parliament to “legislate laws during the coming period that are compatible with the organization’s decisions.” Hanoun indicated that “the Ministry of Commerce is working with the ministries to expedite Iraq’s entry into the organization with a new vision,” explaining that “the government’s effort is effective in eliminating time & harmonizing with the laws of the World Trade Organization.” https://nnciraq.com/132424/ Parliamentary Efforts To Vote On Emergency Support Next Weekend. Today, Thursday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee detailed the allocations for the emergency support law proposal & its covered sectors, while stressing that it must be voted on before the eighth of this month, that is, before the end of the first legislative term, the end of next week. A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Muhannad Al-Khazali, told Al-Iraqiya News and its follower, the National News Center, that “since yesterday, the committee began deliberating the allocations of the law proposal, where large sums will be allocated to supplement food security through the ration card, with approximately 8.5 trillion dinars.” He added, “As for the amounts of development, 8 trillion dinars will be allocated for the development of the regions, distributed to the governorates according to the population and poverty rate, in addition to one trillion dinars allocated to the oil-producing governorates.” He pointed out that “the emergency support law also focused on the file of electricity & gas debt, & 5 trillion & 300 billion dinars were allocated in the law for this matter.” With regard to the allocations for adding lecturers to the law, Khazali stated that “the members of the Finance Committee with the addition of allocations for lecturers, contracts & scientists & find that there is an interest in adding them, & a letter was sent to the Ministry of Finance about its need for allocations.”
