The draft law consists of 113 articles, and it will be presented in the scheduled session by each of the parliamentary committees {labor, financial and legal}.” A member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee, Amir Al-Mamouri, revealed the details of the draft law and told Al-Furat News that: “The retirement and social security law includes very great privileges, and it is One of the important laws that must be completed and amended.” And he indicated that “the current law approved by the Ministry of Labor was prepared in 1970, so the committee worked to approve and complete the law, and set it up to serve and suit the private sector.” He added, “One of the most prominent privileges of the law is improving the pension for for workers, calculating it in a manner equal to the public sector, calculating service and transferring it from the private sector to the public for the purpose of bonuses, promotion and retirement. Al-Mamouri explained, "In the past, work in the private sector had to be under the umbrella of a specific company or institution, but now the optional guarantee clause has been added, whereby the self-employed, such as taxi drivers or private shops, can go to the guarantee and register, and the service is calculated for him from the date of payment of the subscription." . He added, "The government participated in paying financial percentages for the Social Security Law, so that it will contribute to the retirement contributions that entail it at a rate of 5%." And Mamouri added, "The law also takes into account that women working in the private sector obtain maternity leave, and every woman who has 3 children and 15 years of service can be referred to retirement voluntarily." And he stated, "The law included a table of ages that separates {h} and {c} retirees, and the employee has the right to purchase a five-year service only after paying the retirement contributions for it, as it was considered a problem in the law previously." Al-Mamouri concluded his speech by saying, "The law also includes a health guarantee and an insurance guarantee, as majeure circumstances such as the Corona virus are taken into account, as salaries can be paid for a certain period." For his part, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed al-Asadi, urged the House of Representatives to vote on amending the Social Security Law. Al-Asadi said in a tweet on Twitter: "We all hope that the amendment will be voted on so that the Ministry of Labor can proceed to guarantee the rights of workers in all their material and moral aspects, in accordance with international standards."
