  1. While on tour in Iraq we found an unusually odd thing that saved the day. Its a funny story and yet it's humorous in parts but it worth reading. Don't pass it up or you will miss something good. It's from the mother of a Marine stationed in Iraq. My son told me that the guys looked forward to the care packages sent to them, it was like Christmas everyday when you in a live or die zone andhe wanted me to tell everyone thank you. Along with this was a story of one guy she called Marine X, one day got a girl package and all the other guys was giving him a hard time but he was good natured about it. My son said, "Marine X got some really nice smelling lotion and everybody really liked it, so every night when he goes to sleep they sneak over and steal a bit so they can dream and smell it. I told my son that was a mistake for him to get that and if he wanted I would send him one of ours. He told me not to worry about Marine X. He said all the guys including Marine X was having fun with the package condense. There was a pair of panties size 20 and he said that one of the guys got on top of the Humvee and jumped off with the panties over his head like a parachute, yelling, "Look at me I am Airborne Ranger!!!!We flew the panties on our antenna every time we went on a mission. That pair of panties entertained all of us for a while, but we needed something to add a little laughter. Then I course there was the tampons. When the call came to go on our next mission, Marine X grabbed a bunch of stuff from the box seeing the chap-stick and as luck would have it he grabbed some tampons to so the guys would not tease him about forgetting his feminine products. Things went well from a while and then we were ambushed and one of the guys was shot in the side. He said they were administering first aid but couldn't get the blood to stop. One of the guys hollowed use the tampons in the hole and when it expanded it stopped the blood to almost nothing. When we finally got him back to medical care the surgeon told us if we had not used the tampon our fellow buddy would have bled to death. I asked him what did he do with the rest of the tampons and he said all of us has some in our flak jackets and the rest was put in first aid kits. It was absolutely amazing how a mistake and a little fun ended up saving a Marine's life. God always has a plan for things to work out, sometimes we just don't recognize it. That one act boosted the moral of many Marines and provided a way to save a life on the battle field. God bless our People who take time out of their lives to keep this country a beacon of goodness.
