Iraq announces the construction of a new dam on the Tigris River One of the rivers in Iraq 04 April 2021 11:51 PM Mubasher: The Ministry of Water Resources decided to construct a new dam on the Tigris River, north of the Mosul Dam. This came according to the directives of the Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, and in line with the program adopted by the ministry to confront the challenges posed by climate change and water scarcity conditions expected in the coming years, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Sunday. The ministerial committee formed of a number of experts and general managers of a number of ministry formations held a meeting to study the construction of a dam on the Tigris River north of the Mosul Dam, in the area near the Turkish-Syrian border. The committee added that it was decided at the meeting to conduct intensive investigations and approach a number of discreet international companies in the field of dam designs to present their offers on the matter.
