  1. Kurdistan sets conditions for Baghdad to buy electricity from the region 2020-08-08 07:18 Shafaq News / Today, Saturday, Kurdistan government set conditions before the federal Iraqi government to buy electricity from the region. A spokesman for the Kurdistan Electricity Ministry, Omid Ahmed, said, in a press statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that "information we received about the Iraqi government's intention to buy electricity from the region and Turkey," indicating that "the ministry discussed this issue and decided to accept Baghdad's request with conditions . " Regarding these conditions, Ahmed explained that "selling electricity to them does not affect the decrease in the amount of national electricity energy in the region, and that Baghdad provides fuel for the stalled electrical units in the region, and Baghdad gives electricity from these units." He pointed out that "these units are productive, but are currently stopped due to lack of fuel," indicating that "if Baghdad agrees and provides them with fuel, the regional government will also agree to sell electricity to it from the region." On July 28, 2020, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Majid Mahdi Hantoush, announced the start of importing energy from Kurdistan and Turkey, to equip the Iraqi provinces. Meanwhile, the General Director of Electricity Production in the Kurdistan Region, Diyar Baban, stated on July 30, 2020, that the electricity that the central government in Baghdad will buy from Kurdistan will not affect the hours of energy supply in the provinces of the region.
