Iraq: The Federal Court rejects the appeals against the results of the legislative elections

Baghdad, Dec. 27 (Petra) - The Federal Supreme Court of Iraq decided to dismiss the appeal regarding the results of the legislative elections.
The Commission announced, after its meeting today, Monday, that it had responded to all appeals submitted by the political forces to cancel the results of the elections that took place on the tenth of last October, refusing to issue a state order to stop the ratification of the results.
Among the most prominent appeals submitted by the Al-Fateh coalition within the components of the coordination framework calling for canceling the election results, re-electing at a later time, or re-counting and sorting.
The court rejected the appeals submitted by some political forces against the feminist quota.
And 97 women won membership in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, after exceeding the quota established in accordance with the electoral law of 82 seats for women.
The court called on the next parliament to amend the electoral law, and to adopt the manual counting system exclusively.
It remains only for the approval of the Federal Court on the outcome of the elections so that the Iraqi parliament is formed in its fifth session and chooses a government.
The Electoral Commission announced at the end of last November the final results of the parliamentary elections that took place on October 10.
