We discern satan’s schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11), but we listen to and follow God’s strategies. He tells us His plans in order to encourage us and to solicit our partnership with Him in the release of those plans. Prayer activates this partnership between God and His kids. Today’s post from my brother, Tim Sheets, does both of these things. It will certainly encourage you, causing you to rejoice; it will also motivate you to pray. Holy Spirit’s message for us today is: “Keep your focus on what I’m saying and doing, not on what the enemy does. I have great plans for you! I have great plans for your children. I have great plans for America and the nations - and My plans will succeed! Rejoice in this! Put Your faith in My words! And let’s get it done!” Tim shares: ************ “Psalms 145:4 (MSG) makes the powerful statement that each generation tells stories of God’s mighty acts. While previous generations have seen amazing moves of God, the current and coming generations have only seen glimpses. However, I believe this is about to change. Holy Spirit gave me a word concerning this that is now coming into its moment. “Holy Spirit said, ‘Doors to new history will soon open. A new movement will soon spring forth. A new stream from My Throne is now flowing, a pure stream of powerful Gospel. It will be preached by all generations, races, colors, and ethnicities. For the stream of My Gospel has been diverted and dammed up by those who wanted the benefits of “reservoired” blessings; but I will now blow up the dams, says the Lord. The religious dams, the cultural dams, and racial dams. I will discipline the spiritual hoarders. I will discipline the dividers. I will have a gospel that flows freely with My Spirit. “‘My movement will move. It is built to move and it will move, empowered by fresh wind and soaked with fresh oil. My Kingdom’s river will flow without dams. Downpours of glory rains will fill it to overflowing and it will leap to flood stage. For I have prepared a pure Gospel voice, a glorious Ekklesia, lit with the fires of My cause; one that I can confirm with signs, with wonders, and with miracles; one that is not diluted with flesh, pride, immorality, racism, or greed; one that I can back with awesome Kingdom assets; one that I can marshal heaven’s army behind. A gospel of awesome power will now surge forward and the generations will synergize their efforts for the revival of ingathering. “‘I am calling to My Gideons: “Come from your hiding places. Come from the ghettos. Come from the mountains. Come from the plains. Come from the projects. Come from the country. Come from the city and stop the raiding of My harvests. Yes, I have seen you, says the Lord, behind the winepress. I have seen your secret toil and I have heard your cry for relief. Now hear My cry. Now hear My voice. Rise and see the strong arm of the Lord. Now see My plans change your future. Yes, I have seen your heart and I will empower you. You will defeat the enemy, and you will enjoy the spoils of victory.” And you will say, “Our enemy has resourced us. Our enemy has stored abundance for us. We have more because of war.” Yes, dams are breaking and blessings, deliverance, and inheritance will flow. “‘For a shift in leadership will soon come, says the Lord. A new breed of leaders will be revealed in My Kingdom. The obscure ones who have served faithfully will now receive promotion. Though man has not seen, I have seen, says the Lord, and it will be said, “Where did they come from? Who are they?” “‘And I will advocate for them, says the Lord. I will say, “These are they who have come from My presence. These are they who would not compromise. They would not be muzzled. They would not bow to darkness. These are they who would not appease humanity with enticing words but have stood strong for My words.” “‘They did not flinch. They did not bend their knee to blended religion and doctrines of devils or doctrines of men. They did not tolerate the diluting of My message and the mocking of My ways. They have stood unashamed for Me; now I will stand unashamed for them. I will side with them, says the Lord. I have proclaimed their victory and I will oversee its completion. “‘Multiplied graces will now flow. Bound souls will be set free. Captives in heart will be delivered. Those blinded by sin will be liberated from hell’s bondage as the revival of ingathering leaps forward. “‘My Kingdom generations, in sync with My angel armies and soaked in the fresh rains of heaven, will now leap forward into great revival. They will move in power, passion and purity, and I will back them with manifestations of My mightiness. Notable miracles will leap forth. Notable victories will leap forth in their midst. “‘For the revival in the womb of My intercessors is now leaping forth. The revival birthed in the womb of those in travail will now be proclaimed in the earth. It is time for the forerunners to run into destiny callings, declaring “Jesus is the way, He is the truth and He is the life.”’ “The closest friend of Jesus was John the Baptist, who was called a forerunner. As a young man around 30 years of age, he ministered a message that pointed to Jesus as the way, the Messiah and the Savior. You may remember that when John was just a babe in his mother’s womb, he leapt at the sound of Mary, Christ’s mother. “In reference to the coming generation in this era, Holy Spirit said to me ‘Those born from the womb of My intercessors will leap into their destiny callings. They will be forerunners who run pointing the way to Jesus. They will be a different breed, converging with other remnant warrior generations to change history and present Christ the Messiah.’ “Recently, I attended my granddaughter’s college graduation at Lee University. The commencement ceremony was held outside in a large area surrounded by beautiful buildings. As I looked around during the reading of the names and giving of the diplomas, I noticed I could see Stone Chapel. This was one of the places, along with many other college campuses, where revival occurred for several weeks this past winter. Thousands of lives were touched by this outpouring of the Holy Spirit. “As I was pondering and reflecting, watching young men and women in their caps and gowns, waiting for their name to be called, I heard Holy Spirit say, ‘Look at how many I have hidden behind the winepress.’ I knew exactly what He meant. Holy Spirit was referencing when Gideon hid behind a winepress to thresh wheat because the Midianite armies were stealing Israel’s harvest. Gideon was hiding in fear when His name was called. He was called out of that time of fear and vulnerability, to stop the raiding of Israel’s harvest. Gideon answered the call and he, along with his 300 remnant warriors, stopped the raiding, routed the enemy and restored the lost harvest. “Holy Spirit then said, ‘I am calling their names. They will run with Me, pointing the way to Jesus. They will rout the enemies and stop the raiding, working alongside other generations. I am now calling out the names of young men and women of valor: “Come run with Me. Graduate into your place in the generations.” I will call out the names of multiplied thousands of Gideons. They will hear Me call their names, for I know their names. The raiding and stealing of harvest will stop and the reaping of harvest will begin. History will be changed.’ “When God calls your name, He is calling out your identity and purpose. He sees past any natural limitations and calls forth your destiny. “What an amazing era that is unfolding. A new breed of leaders is being revealed in our kingdom. We must pray for this coming generation, called to be forerunners. We must mentor, assist, promote, support and run with them. We most certainly were born for such a time as this.” Pray with me: Lord, activate the generations to work together. Breathe the names of young men and women of valor, forerunners who will rise and partner with the older, remnant generation. We pray for the Gideons You have hidden behind the winepress. We pray for the Esthers who will save a nation. We pray for those who are experiencing hope deferred, asking that hope rise up in them. Lord, bring forth purpose and identity in all generations. Activate this prophetic word in apostolic hubs, on college campuses and in the lives of individuals. Activate leaders who have a heart for the coming generations. We declare Jesus is the way, the truth and the life; He has mighty plans for our times. And in His name, we pray, amen. As you are listening to/reading today’s post, I’ll be in Virginia Beach, attending a memorial service for Pat Robertson, who founded The 700 Club, CBN, Regent University, and more. It is my privilege to honor the memory and legacy of this great man. He has left a phenomenal and indelible mark on the world that will endure into eternity. While there, Dr. Greg Hood and I will also be visiting Cape Henry, just a few minutes away, which was mentioned last week as we discussed Gina Gholston’s recent dream. In the dream, intercessors were given instructions from the Lord, who used a unique phrase, one which made no sense to us until He explained it. Here is that portion of the dream: “Then the Lord spoke and said, ‘There is a shaking coming, but you must not fear! You must know and be convinced that this nation is anchored and surrounded. KNOW that! Be convinced of it!’ “Then, a manilla folder appeared in the lap of each of the leaders on the stage. We opened our folders to find one sheet of paper each. On the paper were listed four instructive bullet points. Across the top of the page was written: ‘COMMAND THE FOREWORD!’” Gina continued, “I understood that a foreword is something written for the beginning of a book. Was God saying that everything was going to be destroyed by the coming shaking and a ‘new book’ was going to be started? There was a microphone on the stage, so I walked up to it and asked, ‘Lord, what does this mean?’ “He answered audibly, speaking to all of us, ‘It’s time to command what was written at the beginning. Command the Foreword! Bring this nation back into alignment with that which was written in the beginning—when this land became a nation. This is the purpose for which she was established. The Foreword is the prophetic decrees that were spoken in agreement with My intended purposes. Now, I say to you, ‘COMMAND THE FOREWORD!’ Know My purposes! Decree those purposes! Do not back down! Agree and decree, and your decrees will provoke a shaking that will bring this nation back into alignment with My original Foreword.” (You can read last week’s posts from this dream here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.) Notice that commanding or decreeing the “Foreword” is actually what would release the shaking that turned America back to her original purpose. In her book Carry On, which relates this dream, Gina states that the prayer and decree made by Robert Hunt at Cape Henry is one of the most important “Forewords” in America’s beginning. I wholeheartedly agree, and have believed this for many years. She quoted the statement from Hunt, which he made on April 29, 1607: “We do hereby dedicate this land and ourselves to reach the people within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to raise up godly generations after us, and with these generations, take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this covenant of dedication remain to all generations as long as the earth remains, and may this land, along with England, be Evangelist to the world. May all who see this Cross remember what we have done here, and may those, who come here to inhabit, join us in this covenant and in this noblest work that the Holy Scriptures may be fulfilled. From these very shores, the gospel shall go forth, not only to this New World, but the entire world.”(1) After this declaration, the following powerful Bible passage was read: “All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before Thee. For the Kingdom is the Lord’s, and He ruleth among the nations” (Psalm 22:27-28). Robert Hunt’s Spirit-led decree regarding this land IS America’s destiny. Some, however, have other plans for us. While in Philadelphia this past Saturday, in his first campaign speech, Joe Biden said, “We are not only changing this country, we are transforming it.”(2) On October 30, 2008, Barack Obama said, “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”(3) On May 14, 2008, Michelle Obama said, “We are going to have to change our conversation; we’re going to have to change our traditions, our history; we’re going to have to move into a different place as a nation.”(4) Sometimes true motives just have a way of slipping out. Rest assured; God has other plans! As Gina states in her book, she recalled hearing the phrase “command the forward/foreword” some time ago in another dream, though she didn’t mention the context. I remembered hearing it as well, because she had shared it with me and others. However, in that dream, she only HEARD the Lord SAY the words; they were not written, as they were in the recent dream. She and all of us who heard the dream related, assumed we were to command the “forward,” not “foreword.” Because of this, the phrase made little sense to us at the time. Now we understand what we are to command. While on the plane traveling to speak for my brother, Tim Sheets, at the Oasis Church this past Friday night, I decided to search in my files for the previous dream. Since we now understand the phrase, what other significant details might it contain that would finally make sense? I found the dream, which was given to Gina on October 3, 2020. In this dream, the setting was a gathering at The Oasis - where I was now headed - called The Reset 2020 Convocation. As we conducted the convocation, the Lord suddenly spoke to us audibly, instructing us to “COMMAND THE FOREWORD!” (Not “the forward.”) When He did so 3 large angels blew silver trumpets. In the Scriptures, one of the purposes for which Israel blew silver trumpets was to call the people to war (Numbers 10:9). In the dream, after the Lord spoke these words and the angels blew the trumpets, Gina said, “There was a very, VERY strong shaking. We all felt the shaking, but we were not afraid or disturbed by it…and we knew it was going out into the nation.” In both dreams, “commanding the foreword” brought a shaking to the nation! Here is one more extremely significant insight Gina offers in her book regarding the Lord giving the same dream twice: “Dutch Sheets sometimes jokes that I have started dreaming in sequels. It does seem a bit odd, but it’s actually a very important indication for us to consider. In the book of Genesis, Joseph stated to Pharoah that when God gives ‘sequel’ dreams, it is ‘because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass’ (Genesis 41:32, KJV). A look at this passage in a couple of other translations of the Bible makes this even clearer. The New Living Translation reads: ‘As for having two similar dreams, it means that these events have been decreed by God, and He will soon make them happen.’ The Amplified Version states: ‘That the dream was repeated twice to Pharaoh [and in two different ways] indicates that this matter is fully determined and established by God, and God will bring it to pass very quickly.’ “Much of the time, prophetic words or dreams are given for a time yet to come, but the fact that God has given two dreams concerning His desire for the church to continue with the flow and function of His original intentions is an undeniable indicator that something major is ready now to be revealed. Not only is it undeniable, it is established by God, and He intends to bring it to pass very quickly.”(5) Back to Greg Hood and my visit to Cape Henry today. Only God could have orchestrated: a spontaneous trip sent from the same place (the Oasis Church) where in the dream, He gave the initial instructions to the place where Robert Hunt made his prophetic declaration to attend the memorial service for ONE OF HIS DESCENDANTS, Pat Robertson. That’s right, the man “summoning” me there, for whom I’m going in order to honor his life, is a descendant of the very man who made the 1607 declaration. Only God..! Pray for and with us today as we command the foreword at Cape Henry. Prayer and Decree: “We do hereby dedicate this land and ourselves to reach the people within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to raise up godly generations after us, and with these generations, take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this covenant of dedication remain to all generations as long as the earth remains, and may this land, along with England, be Evangelist to the world. A couple of weeks after I was introduced to the Appeal to Heaven flag, Holy Spirit gave a profound dream to my friend, Rick Curry. The dream seemed to encapsulate the synergy of the ages; putting ourselves into the storyline; the fact that God was involved in the birth of America; and the significance of the Appeal to Heaven flag. In the dream, Rick found himself in an old wooden tabernacle. An elderly man approached, whom Rick and I believe represented the Ancient of Days. This man turned on all the lights and opened all the windows, which were large pieces of hinged plywood, held open by poles. As the tabernacle filled with light, Rick could see that it was huge, seating twenty-five to thirty thousand people. The gentleman then escorted him to the platform and instructed him to sit on a stool. “Look out those windows,” he said, pointing to the east. As Rick looked, he saw ships approaching in the distance. Those look like pilgrim ships, he thought. Sure enough, they were. Three or four thousand people from that generation of Americans disembarked, made a processional into the tabernacle, took their seats, and began worshipping God. “Now, look out those windows,” the man instructed, pointing in a different direction. As Rick looked, he saw pioneers coming in the distance - women in long skirts and bonnets, covered wagons pulled by oxen, and other items depicting the era. Just as the pilgrims, several thousand pioneers made a procession into the tabernacle while the previous generation stood and cheered: “Well done! Thank you for your hard work. Thanks for keeping the dream alive…” When all the pioneers were inside, both generations began worshipping. After a few moments, the host approached again, “Look out these windows.” Sure enough, another generation of Americans was approaching. “Those are the planters,” he said. “They built roads, railroads, towns, and cities.” Just as the other generations had done, they filed into the tabernacle to loud cheers from the previous groups. When they were inside, all three generations stood, and fervent worship ascended. This scene repeated itself with three more generations of Americans approaching and entering the tabernacle. Representatives from six generations were now present, twenty thousand or more, all worshipping. “The praise was so loud,” Rick said, “the building was shaking.” At this point, the host approached yet again, pointing to a seventh set of windows. As Rick watched, people from our era drove toward the building in cars and trucks. Like the others, they made their entrance into the gathering - to great cheers, followed by passionate worship. The Delegates Seven generations of Americans now stood, passionately worshipping, literally causing the building to vibrate from the sound of their praise. After a few moments, the older man approached Rick yet again. “Watch these double doors,” he instructed. A representative from the pilgrims entered, walked up to the center of a bridge arching over the platform, and began prophesying God’s plans and purposes for America. The people listened quietly for several minutes as he declared her corporate destiny, after which the worship ensued again. Five more times, this was repeated - delegates from six generations decreeing and prophesying over America, each one followed by more worship. Finally, when the time came for our generation to decree, the pattern changed. Approaching Rick with a very serious demeanor, the old man asked him a penetrating question, “Are you ready to take your place in the synergy of the ages?” As you can imagine, hearing this phrase, first spoken to me in 2001, astonished me. Interrupting his account, I inquired, “Before the dream, Rick, had you ever heard this phrase? Have you heard me or anyone else ever mention the phrase ‘synergy of the ages?’ “Never,” he assured me, as I stared in stunned silence. This phrase, along with the fact that each generation of Americans was present, clearly pointed to the synergy created through multi-generational agreement. Seven eras, one nation. The fact that the phrase came in the context of a question was also significant: “Are you ready to take your place…?” To me, it seemed God was asking our generation of American believers the question. In the dream, Rick answered the man’s question, “Yes, I’m ready to take my place.” “Go through that door and join other leaders from your generation,” he was told. Unlike the previous generations, ours had numerous representatives, many of whom he recognized. Together, they marched into the room and took seats. All of them, that is, except the last one in line. He headed toward the bridge. “You were the last one, Dutch,” he told me. “You were the delegate from this generation. As you walked up the bridge, I noticed that, unlike the previous delegates, you were carrying something. When you reached the center, you began unfolding it - a white flag.” I was almost afraid to believe what might be coming. My mind was racing. Is he about to describe the flag just given to me - the Appeal to Heaven flag? Before he could continue, I blurted, “Did it by any chance have the words ‘Appeal to Heaven’ on it?” It was now Rick’s turn to be surprised. Having never seen or heard of the flag before his dream, he naturally assumed I hadn’t either. “Yes! How could you possibly know?” he asked. Still not quite believing what I was hearing, I continued, “Did it have an evergreen tree on it?” Again, Rick was shocked. “How did you know that? I’ve not shared the dream with anyone!” he exclaimed, pulling an Appeal to Heaven flag from a backpack. “I found the flag online and bought you one, planning to introduce you to it.” “Too late,” I said with a smile, “I already have one.” After giving him a quick explanation, I urged my surprised friend to finish his account of the dream. “Upon reaching the center of the bridge, Dutch, you didn’t immediately begin prophesying and decreeing America’s destiny, as the others had. Instead, you began waving the flag over the crowd in a figure eight, doing so for ten minutes or so. As you did, the people were once again passionately worshipping.” This figure eight pattern is significant. The number eight represents new beginnings in Scripture. On its side, eight is the symbol of infinity or eternity. In ancient times, when a covenant was ratified by a blood sacrifice, the individuals entering into covenant would often walk in a figure eight among the pieces of the sacrifice. Why? They were swearing eternal allegiance to the covenant. I believe that by waving the flag in this configuration, I was declaring two things. Firstly, appealing to Heaven can give us a “new beginning.” Also, it was emphasizing America’s covenant with God. By waving this flag, under which America was born, I was pointing us back to our roots as a nation - our birth, purpose, and calling. “The dream is still alive, the flag was stating. Find it. Revisit the stormy seas of the pilgrims, the dusty trails of the pioneers, or the bloody battlefields of Lexington and Concord. Read the sermons of Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, or John Wesley until the flame of the First Great Awakening burns in you. Read of Cane Ridge, the Second Great Awakening, and Charles Finney until you burn with passion to see America become ‘the shining city on a hill’ once again. Tell the old stories! And find the dream.” As I waved this ancient flag with its timeless message, I was declaring that we as a nation must once again “appeal to heaven.” If we are to recapture our God-given destiny, we must pray now, just as we did then. The Harvest of the Ages Rick then finished his account of the dream with one last, powerful statement. “After several minutes, you stopped waving the flag and began prophesying over America, just as the previous six representatives had done.” He couldn’t recall what I had said, except for the last sentence, which I’m certain was all he was intended to remember. “With great conviction and authority, you declared, ‘America is returning to the ancient path, in order to reap the harvest of the ages!’” End of dream. To say I was impacted by this dream would be the understatement of the year. Its message touched a deep place in my soul, confirming what I had believed for many years: the greatest harvest in history is ahead of us. And America, though we may not look like it at the moment, has an important part to play in this great harvest. The Lord still has need of us. Rally to the flag. God has resurrected it for such a time as this. Wave it outwardly; carry it inwardly. Appeal to heaven daily for a spiritual revolution that will knock out the Goliaths of our day. Put yourself in the storyline, because the stories ARE your stories. Let your heart revive as you think about the great God of yesterday, today, and forever. You’re on His team, part of His plan, in the dream. By faith, call America back to the ancient path, to reap the harvest of the ages. Believe He can; believe He will. Are you ready to take your place in the synergy of the ages? Pray with me: Father, we are more than Your servants; we are family. We are also Your representatives on Earth. Thank You for the privilege of partnering with You to save the world. As a nation, we also enjoy the incredible honor of taking the gospel of the Kingdom to all the world. All believers have this assignment and privilege, yet You birthed America as a nation specifically for this purpose. We have turned Your dream for America into a materialistic dream, but a Third Great Awakening will correct this. The lies of progressives, secularists, humanists, and revisionists will be dispelled by truth. We appeal for this now. We are ready to take our place in the storyline and experience the synergy of the ages. We appeal to the Lord of the harvest for laborers to be sent into the harvest of the ages. We bind the powers of darkness, the schemes of hell, that war against this. We declare that the authority delegated to the Ekklesia is greater than their authority. We release power into the spiritual realm over America to destroy strongholds of darkness and release the spirit of revival. We do so, especially for the youth and young adults of America. We decree revival to the campuses of America. Our decree: We acknowledge that appealing to heaven birthed America, and decree that appealing to heaven will rebirth America. ************************* Today’s post was taken from my book An Appeal to Heaven. If possible, pause your recording and/or reading and get some juice/wine and bread ready so you can join me. Communion is more than remembering and honoring; it is a declaration of, the release of, and celebration of victory! If you have not yet seen the following explanation of why we are taking Communion daily from now through the end of the year, please do so in the following review. I won’t read it, for time’s sake. This will enable you to understand why I’m leading in Communion for the next few weeks. REVIEW [On January 2 of this year, my friend Greg Hood was given a dream which I have visited often throughout the year. In this dream, the Ekklesia and the kingdom of darkness were contending for America; this was pictured by a baseball World Series, called the World Seers Series. It was the last game of the series, the eighth inning, and we were winning by a score of 20-22. I and others felt that the 4 batters we sent to the plate in this inning represented prayer assignments for the 4 quarters of 2022. For those of you who would like to see the entire dream and my comments regarding it, you can use the following links (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4). Today, however, I want to talk about the batter/assignment for the fourth quarter of this year, which we are obviously now in. The assignment for this quarter was to remove the voice (influence and control) of Baal, the ruling principality over America. We did so by hitting the baseball into his throat, with a bat taken from a box marked “Communion,” and engraved with “Ephesians 1:17,” a verse referencing “the spirit of wisdom and revelation.” In the dream, it was said to this fourth batter, “If you hit the mark it will change this game.” “Hit the mark” is one of the definitions of the Hebrew word for intercession (paga). If we do and pray as Holy Spirit instructs us, we will change this nation! I have known since 2007 that Baal was “the strong man” (Matthew 12:29) over America. Demons and angels do not have physical bodies and, therefore, do not die. The same spirits that operated in ancient history are still alive and active today. Baal was a principality mentioned often in the Bible, who was frequently used by satan to oppose Israel. His influence produced violence, blood sacrifices, and great immorality, including all forms of sexual sin. He is no doubt the spirit behind abortion, adultery, homosexuality, pornography, and the blatant attempt to defile our children with sexual perversion. The sudden escalation of activity in our nation to promote abortion and sexual perversion - even to small children - is no doubt due to this spirit’s desperate attempt to remain in control. My purpose in this post is to focus on the method God gave us in the dream - Communion - with which to end Baal’s control over America. And I will be doing several more posts between now and the end of the year on this subject.] _____________________ Today’s post begins: In yesterday’s post, I mentioned the phrase “hit the mark.” This is one of the meanings of paga, the biblical (Hebrew) word for intercession. The concept of this word is two or more things coming together or meeting. These joinings or connectings can be pleasant meetings, warfare (two people or groups engaging in battles), boundaries (two pieces of land meeting), sharing someone’s burden or grief (you connect with or are touched by their pain), and even a bullseye - “hit the mark.” In the World Seers Series dream, the Ekklesia (the Church) was in a battle with the powers of darkness for America’s destiny. This was pictured by a baseball game; the spirit of Baal was satan’s pitcher. Toward the end of the game, a prophet said to our batter, “hit the ball at his throat - remove his voice. If you ‘hit the mark’ you will change this game.” This obvious play on words - using the meaning of paga in the statement - is saying to us, “If you pray, it will remove Baal’s voice of influence in America.” Our praying was powered by Communion, which pictures Christ’s victory at the Cross. This is the reason we’re partaking of Communion together on the posts for a season. Today, I want to focus on the word “If.” Holy Spirit said this victory would occur “if” we pray. There are many Christians who believe prayer is only a devotional activity, a way to connect/commune with God. They don’t believe prayer is actually necessary to enable God to do what He desires on Earth. In my book, Intercessory Prayer, I state: “God has given us a Bible full of answers to the whys of life. The one I want to address here is: Why pray? I’m not speaking of why in the sense of needing this or that. Obviously, we ask because we want or need something. I’m speaking of why in the context of God’s sovereignty. “Do my prayers really matter all that much? Isn’t God going to do what He wants anyway? Most people, even if only subconsciously, believe just that. The proof is in their prayer life, or lack thereof. “Can my prayers actually change things? Does God need me to pray, or does He just want me to pray? Some would argue an omnipotent God doesn’t need anything, including our prayers. “Can God’s will on Earth be frustrated or not accomplished if I don’t pray? Many would brand me a heretic for even raising the question. “But these and other questions deserve answers. I’ve discovered that understanding the why of doing something can be a great motivating force. The opposite is also true. “As a kid, I wondered why a sign said: ‘No Diving’ in the shallow end of the pool. I dove anyway. Then one day, I hit my head on the bottom. I don’t dive in the shallow end anymore. “As a child, I wondered why I was forbidden to touch the pretty red glow on the stove. I found out. “I once wondered why a fellow in front of me in the woods said, ‘Duck.’ “I thought, I don’t want to duck. I don’t have to duck. Then the branch whopped me upside the head. Now when I hear the word, I duck. “Someone said, ‘To err is human, to repeat it is stupid.’ I’m sure I’ve qualified for that once or twice, but not regarding these three things because now I know why! However, our subject is far more important than bumps, burns, and bruises; we’re talking about eternal destinies, homes, marriages, the welfare of people we love, and revival in our cities - the list continues. “When God says, ‘Pray,’ I want to know it accomplishes something. I’m not into religious exercises, and my time is valuable - so is yours. Was S.D. Gordon correct or not when he said, ‘You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed…Prayer is striking the winning blows…service is gathering up the results?’(1) “If God is going to do something regardless of whether or not we pray, then He doesn’t need us to ask, and we don’t need another waste of time. Just worship and leave the rest to God. “If, on the other hand, John Wesley was correct when he said, ‘God does nothing except in response to believing prayer,’(2) I’ll lose sleep for that. I’ll change my lifestyle for that. I’ll turn the TV off, and even miss a meal or two. “Obviously, I believe prayer is necessary. Though God is sovereign and all-powerful, Scripture clearly tells us that He Limited Himself, concerning the affairs of Earth, to working through human beings. “Is this not the reason the earth is in a mess? It isn’t because God wills it so, but because of His need to work and carry out His will through people. “Is this not the story woven throughout the Scriptures? God and humans, for better or worse, working together? God needing faithful men and women? God needing a race of people through whom to work? God needing prophets? God needing judges? God needing a human Messiah? God needing human hands to heal, human voices to speak, and human feet to go? “Doesn’t He need us to ask for His kingdom to come, and His will to be done (see Matthew 6:10)? Surely He wouldn’t want us to waste our time asking for something that was going to happen anyway, would He? “Didn’t He tell us to ask for our daily bread (Matthew 6:11)? And yet, He knows our needs before we even ask. “Didn’t He tell us to ask that laborers be sent into the harvest (Matthew 9:38)? But, doesn’t the Lord of the harvest want this more than we do? “Didn’t Paul say, ‘Pray for us that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified’ (2 Thessalonians 3:1)? Wasn’t God already planning to do this? “Are not these God’s will? Why, then, am I supposed to ask Him for something He already wants to do if it’s not that my asking somehow releases Him to do it? “Either God wants the earth in this broken condition, or He doesn’t. If He doesn’t, which is certainly the case, then we must assume one of two things: either He is powerless to do anything about it, or He needs and is waiting on something from us in order to bring about change. Dr. Peter Wagner agrees with this when he says: ‘We must understand that our sovereign God has, for His own reasons, so designed this world that much of what is truly His will He makes contingent on the attitudes and actions of human beings. He allows humans to make decisions that can influence history…Human inaction does not nullify the atonement, but human inaction can make the atonement ineffective for lost people.’(3) “This truth could intimidate us with the responsibility it brings, or even condemn us over our lack of prayer. But another possibility exists as well. Responsibility can also be a privilege; it can be enjoyable. If allowed, this revelation of God needing our prayers can elevate us in our hearts to new positions of dignity alongside our heavenly Father and Lord Jesus. Jack Hayford said, ‘Prayer is essentially a partnership of the redeemed child of God working hand in hand with God toward the realization of His redemptive purposes on earth.’(4) “Let’s rise to the occasion and embrace the incredible invitation to be co-laborers with God…to be carriers of His awesome Holy Spirit and ambassadors for His great Kingdom. Let’s represent Him! “Awaken us to our destiny, Lord!” Pray with me: Father, You said if we prayed, it would change the game. You said if we used the power of Communion to deliver those prayers, it would remove the voice of Baal. So we take the bread that represents Your body, broken to make us whole. You bore our sins, diseases, weaknesses, and griefs. As we partake now, we declare, “Your Kingdom come! Your will be done!” (Eat the bread) And we have staked our claim to victory on the blood of Christ alone. There is no other way to salvation and a relationship with You. It is our “bat,” our weapon, our strength. As we drink it now, we are releasing the power of the Most High God into our lives, families, and nations. Clay is not only a personal friend, but also a seasoned prophet, hearing from the Lord very clearly. Occasionally Clay sends amazing dreams for me personally, and also for the church at large. I’ve known Clay and Susan for many years and we have a great relationship. It’s been an incredible journey and I’m thrilled to have him on the program today. So, Clay, what’s on your heart today; what do you hear God saying? ************ Clay begins to share: “Thank you, Dutch. I’m honored to be with you and all the people who are part of Give Him 15. Today I want to talk about the Ekklesia becoming one. Ezra 3:1 says, ‘And all of Israel came into Jerusalem as one man.’ “I’d like to share two dreams with you. This first dream came a couple of years ago and took place at Cape Henry where Robert Hunt erected a cross. I am moved to tears each time I read the prayer and the covenant he made there. “In the dream, there was a tsunami wave coming. Leaders were there as well as other followers of Christ. As we saw the tsunami was coming, a plane flew by and had a message behind it: ‘Help is on the way!’ It was interesting that the message was waving vertically, not horizontally. “I believe, as the dream indicated, that help is coming! I believe not only is God, through Holy Spirit, coming to help us, but help is also coming through the Ekklesia. There are many watchmen on the wall and I am grateful for every one of them. Back in 2018, the Lord told me to start praying for the next Supreme Court Justice. We didn't know at that time that it would be Justice Kavaunaugh. I started praying in 2018, and thought it would be an assignment for only a few months. However, God had other plans. We’ve now been holding daily prayer for our nation since that time. It’s been wonderful. I will tell you, it’s been challenging at times, especially when you are traveling. But there has been a grace on it. I receive many emails asking that we not stop this daily time of concerted prayer. “But let’s talk about ‘becoming one,’ as I mentioned earlier. Jesus spoke in John chapter 17 about us being one with the Father. I believe there is a new dimension of the body of Christ - the Ekklesia, the praying church - coming together. It excites me, Dutch, especially in light of a recent prophetic encounter I had. “I recently preached at CityGate Church in Southaven, MS, on a Friday night. Sometime the next morning, I had a dream. Then, I got up that day, filmed a couple of YouTube videos, and then headed to Coleman, Alabama - but I didn’t remember the dream which is not unusual for me. “I got into the service in Coleman, turned around, and looked at the second row behind me. To my surprise, there sat a lady who had been in the dream. Dutch interjects: “Wait a minute. I want to make sure we get this. You saw a lady in the crowd, and then Holy Spirit brought the dream back to you, and you started remembering it then?” Clay responds: “Yes!” Dutch asked: “ Did you know this lady?” Clay shares: “No, I did not know her. My dream life has shifted this year and I regularly see an angel that guards the Justice Gate. In this particular dream, the angel mentioned the name ‘Destiny’ to me. He actually said, ‘I want to give Coleman, Alabama, a miracle like I gave Destiny’s mother.’ “I had not been to Coleman, Alabama in nine or ten years. I didn’t know anyone there named Destiny. I asked the lady who was in the second row (whom I saw in the dream), ‘Do you know a Destiny that has significance to this city - Coleman?’ She said, ‘Well, I have a niece named Destiny but she doesn’t live in Coleman.’ Then the lady next to her said, ‘I just started a church named ‘Destiny.’’ Well, I knew that wasn’t it. So we moved on and I started preaching. “As I was speaking, I mentioned this story, and a minister whom I know was there. He said, ‘I know who Destiny is! It is Deborah Joe Billinger’s daughter. Her mother was a back up singer to Leonard Skinner and was one of the band members who survived the awful plane crash. “Pastor Garrett (the host pastor) said, ‘Oh my goodness, I met Destiny two weeks ago in a restaurant where she works. I saw her name tag and gave her a [prophetic] word!’ “God began to knit this together and I didn’t even notice that a young man named Michael went over and sat by the pastor (Michael used to traveled with Eddie James). As they talked with each other on the front row, I continued preaching and because of the dream, we stopped to have prayer for Destiny. “I asked the Lord, ‘What do you have for Destiny? We ask that You begin to touch her.’ “Unknown to me, after talking with the pastor, Michael left the service and went to where Destiny was working. Although he did not personally know her, he walked up and began telling her that there was a prophet in a service there in Coleman that night who had a dream about her. “Destiny then went to her supervisor and told him she had to leave. She came to the church and actually walked the front. We began ministering prophetically to her. She has been heart broken. Her mother - who was not killed in the plane crash - had a Christian background and had turned back to God, serving Him. However, sadly, her mother died of cancer in 2010. This had devastated Destiny. “What we found out that night was about a week prior to this, Destiny had told the Lord, ‘I can’t reach out to you - I’m just done. If you don’t reach out to me, I’m not going to make it.’ We poured in the love of God and ministered more to her prophetically. Holy Spirit put new wind in her sail. She has a song writing ability like her mother. I prophesied to her about this and asked Holy Spirit to awaken the gift that was dormant. I was able to connect her to a Christian country music artist who is willing to mentor her. What an amazing story. “God is fitly joining us together. There is a synergy in the earth right now like I’ve never seen before. Here's what I want to show you - think about how God put this all together: “I have the dream, the lady on the second row didn't even attend that church, but decided to visit that night. Had she not come, I would not have been reminded of the dream. She even said, ‘I just knew I had to be here tonight.’ “The pastor shared that he had recently spoken to Destiny and told her, ‘You know, God has something for you. He's going to draw you back to Him.’ “Michael knew where Destiny worked, goes there and talks with her. Destiny hears something in what Michael says - she's desperate for God, then leaves work to come to the service. We all gather around and minister to her, prophesing healing to her wounds, disappointment, and loss of hope. God then begins the healing process. Actually, part of the prophetic word He said to her was, ‘I'm going to put you on the road to “Wellsville”’ and He began to heal her. “After receiving ministry that night, Destiny changed. She actually looked 10 to 15 years younger by the end of that service. What a night of healing for this young lady. “I'm saying that I was a dot that night, pastor Garrett was a dot, the lady on the second row was a dot, Michael was a dot, Destiny was a dot, and then the other dot was a church coming together in agreement with all of this. “A life was changed. Just think about it. The word of the Lord came to Destiny that she was going to write songs and people would be healed when they heard them. That's another dot. “The body of Christ, the praying church, the Ekklesia, especially those that have recognized their legislative ability in the spirit, who have married their priestly anointing to their kingly authority - we're all joining together. “This thing is changing. “The media gives us a bunch of lies - it's a bunch of talking points - they tell us what they want us to believe. I believe the body of Christ is going to come together. The nation is turning. Salvation is coming. Healing is coming. Manifestations are coming. Signs and wonders are coming. The Mavericks are coming in - the unbranded ones. “Somebody listening today is probably ‘unbranded.’ You haven’t found your ‘tribe.’ You haven't found where you ‘fit.’ Let me tell you why many people are Mavericks: because strong-willed people, insecure leaders can't deal with them. Mavericks, we need you in the body of Christ. We need your anointing. We need your authority. We need your giftings. A true leader is someone who can take a group of people and cause them to discover they have purpose and destiny. It's easy to lead people where they want to go, but it's the true leader who can take them into purpose and destiny. “Dutch, I'm seeing that happen. On the weekly call that I lead, we regularly have people ask, ‘Can you recommend a church near where I live?’ It's being fitly joined together. I’m excited about it.” Dutch then shares, “What an awesome dream, awesome word, Clay. I agree with you - God is connecting the dots. He's connecting us. “I remember when Chuck and I went to all 50 states back in 2003-2004 [The 50 State Tour]. Chuck used to do something interesting. As I spoke, he would hear a clear word from heaven he felt he was to share with the gathering RIGHT THEN! The first time he interrupted my message - of course it wasn't a rude interruption and he knew I was okay with it. He came up during my message, and would begin to prophesy because something I said triggered a word in him that he felt needed to be shared right then. That started happening more and more frequently as we were on this tour. Chuck would just jump in and then I would pray into what he had prophesied, or I would have a follow-up to what Chuck had shared. Sometimes I'd continue the message, or sometimes the message would shift a little because of Chuck’s word, but that happened on numerous occasions. “You know, you and I have been in services where four, five, or six people had a part of what God wanted to say to us in the gathering - some would have a word to be shared, some prayers that need to be prayed. I think it's an incredible thing how God is breaking down people's fears, their preconceived ideas of how it's supposed to work. He's showing us ‘I really can do more through all of you than I can one of you. I really can do more through the body than I can just the finger, or the arm.’ What you shared regarding your night in Coleman is an amazing lesson. There were quite a few people who each had a piece of what God wanted to do. “I think more of this is coming - we're going to go to a higher level. I think our services are going to look more like the book of Corinthians where one would have a word to be shared, then another. They all would add pieces, jumping in and sharing what they had received from the Lord. (see 1 Corinthians 14:26-33) “You know, there's a way to do that. We've demonstrated and proven there's a way to do it decently and in order (see 1 Corinthians 14:40), without chaos, without interruption, without people fighting for the microphone. You and I have demonstrated it many times. I believe more of this is coming to the church. I think the fruit of it is going to be incredible. “Clay, I’d like for you to pray into this. Share with us anything you want to say as we close, and then pray into it. We're going to all release our faith right now and believe that this is going to another level.” Pastor Clay begins to share and then prays, “Amen, Dutch. I’d like to share one thing before I pray. Friends, you're a dot. Find where you connect. Amen? Lives will be changed. But you must allow God to connect the dots. Now is that time. Pray With Me: “Father, I thank You for everyone agreeing with us on Give Him 15 today. I thank You, Father, for what Dutch and Ceci do. I thank You for how the impact of Give Him 15 is increasing. But Father, I declare over the Ekklesia, the watchmen on the wall, the praying church, let us become more sensitive to Holy Spirit that we can recognize when we're in that place where you want to connect us with others, so we can stand as the one new man. We desire to stand as a corporate man - the church - on the earth. Jesus, we ask that You stand tall through us. “Father, stir hearts right now. Stir them into a place of passion. We ask that they hunger and thirst for finding their place to become a dot you can connect. We ask that You do it, in Yeshua's name we pray. 6 min read https://www.givehim15.com/post/august-30-2022 August 30, 2022 Accept the Offer On Friday (August 26th), my brother Tim was on the post with me, and spoke of a word he had recently received from the Lord. I want to pick up on a portion of it today. He said there was coming a stronger merger of the two realms of Christ’s Kingdom - the natural and spiritual (or, we might say, the earthly and heavenly). This would result in new levels and manifestations of the Kingdom of God. Tim shared: ************ “Now begins a merger that will accelerate a new era Pentecost. Power and Kingdom authority will be seen on earth as never before. We have been prophesying this for a long time, and Holy Spirit says, ‘The merger is now occurring. Glory presence will now fill prepared territories, regions, and nations.’ “I’m assuming the Ekklesias are getting traction in these places. I also heard Holy Spirit say, ‘Surge after surge of the King’s manifest presence will spawn sudden miracles. The enemies of the Kingdom will be disoriented and will fight each other, resulting in freedoms decreed by King Jesus and His Ekklesia. This will be assisted by My angel armies, for I will surely release My mighty ones to labor with you; My mighty angels are moving into the earth realm.’ “This is the season we are entering now, a ‘merger’ of God’s glory and high-ranking angels partnering with the Ekklesia. The glory of God is going to amp up in certain regions and territories in such a way that it will spawn miracles and breakthroughs. I believe we are moving NOW - not years from now - into a season of suddenlies. Sudden strikes of high-ranking angels, under Holy Spirit’s supervision, fueled by the decrees of a functioning Ekklesia. “Dr. Jim Hodges [Tim’s and my spiritual father] was with us a few weeks ago and preached a great word, as usual. Then he began to pray and prophesy. As he did, I felt a shift! “Dutch, you and I are old enough to know how cars with standard transmissions and stick shifts operate. You use a clutch when shifting gears. Sometimes if the clutch is bad or the gears aren’t perfectly synchronized, the gears grind as an attempt is made to engage them. As Jim prayed, I felt that we were ‘grinding’ into gear, then we fully shifted. “I feel the Ekklesia as a whole is shifting into another gear. Holy Spirit is changing things, prophetic words are about to come to pass, and powerful angels are being released. Something has shifted, and we are moving into another gear.” ************ When speaking with Tim on Friday, I referenced a similar experience I had several years ago. I was worshiping and heard the sound of gears grinding. This was obviously not something I was hearing literally, but supernaturally in the spiritual realm. When I asked Holy Spirit what I was hearing, he said, “I’m trying to shift the church into another season.” He knew that by using this mechanical analogy, I would immediately understand what He was saying. Due to ignorance, uncertainty, resistance, hesitancy, etc., many in the church were resisting the shift/change. I’m sure there are those who would disagree with my contention that Holy Spirit was being hindered from shifting the church. They would contend that Holy Spirit could shift the body of Christ into a new season whenever He so desired. However, I would remind them of Israel, when they were delivered from Egypt, and Jerusalem during the time of Christ’s life on earth. Both generations were unable to shift fully into the next season and consequently became stuck in the previous one. This not only hindered them from receiving blessing, but also stalled their destiny. How do we position ourselves to shift into a new season? What can hinder this? We must look carefully at these questions. Today and the next couple of days, I want to teach some on how to shift into the new. The first step is to recognize and embrace the opportunity. John 5:1-9 tells the story of a paralyzed man healed by Jesus. It was believed by the Jews of the day that an angel periodically stirred the waters of the pool named Bethesda, located at the Sheep Gate, and the first person into the water was healed. The actual Greek text makes it difficult to discern if this angelic activity and the miraculous results actually occurred, but it is certainly clear that the people of the day believed it. At the Pool, Jesus approached a man who had been in a paralyzed condition for 38 years and asked what seemed like a strange question: “Do you truly long to be well?” (John 5:6 TPT). The man’s answer revealed that although he was waiting at the pool, he really had no hope of being healed. “I have no one to help me into the water and someone else always gets there first.” I believe Jesus asked the paralytic this question to point out that his hope was misplaced. Although he was waiting for the miraculous stirring of the pool, Yahweh was the source of the mercy he needed. A couple of feet and only seconds away from experiencing the new, just moments from total restoration, the man wasn’t able to recognize it. With misplaced faith and incredible hope-deferred, there was nothing within him that could respond with hope to Jesus’ question. The symbolism of this passage is stark. Bethesda means “house of lovingkindness or mercy.” The Sheep Gate next to it was where the lambs used for the sacrifices were brought into the Temple. Five, the number of porticoes around the pool, is the biblical number of grace. Putting these meanings and facts into the story paints the picture of Christ, THE Passover Lamb, entering our fallen, hopeless world to give us grace and mercy. Jesus came to bring wholeness and health to the “diseased” human race. This disabled man was staring at THE Lamb Himself, God’s gift of grace, the fulfillment of what everything around him pictured, yet didn’t realize it. An incredible opportunity, his kairos moment, had arrived, but he was too hopeless to recognize it. We must stay in faith and listen carefully to Holy Spirit - “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” (Revelation 2:7) - in order to recognize the timing for God’s shifts. Reader’s Digest told of the late Harvey Penick: In the 1920s, Penick bought a red spiral notebook and began jotting down observations about golf. He never showed the book to anyone other than his son until 1991, when he shared it with a local writer and asked if he thought it was worth publishing. The man read it and told him yes. The writer presented it to Simon and Schuster, then left word with Penick’s wife the next evening that they had agreed to an advance of $90,000! When the writer told Penick, the golfing expert seemed troubled. Finally, Penick came clean. With all his medical bills, he said, there was no way he could advance Simon & Schuster that much money. The writer had to explain that Penick would be the recipient of the $90,000! His first golf book, Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book, sold more than a million copies, one of the biggest best-sellers in the history of sports books. His second book And If You Play Golf, You’re My Friend, sold nearly three-quarters of a million. (1) Whether it be book writing, physical miracles, or the salvation of a loved one, we sometimes live in the waiting stage so long that it becomes difficult to believe in God’s mercy when it is offered. Listen with faith! When God says it is time to shift, be ready to accept the offer. Pray with me: Father, thank You for moving us from glory to glory, strength to strength, and faith to faith. You are not a stagnant God! And You said there would be no end to the increase of Christ’s Kingdom (Isaiah 9:6-7). We are confident of this, our faith in You is strong. You have also spoken through prophetic voices that a new merger of Your glory, angelic warriors, and an empowered Ekklesia is coming. We determine now to participate in this. We will shift with You. We won’t miss it. We ask You for an infusion of strength, revelation, and power to shift us into this new season. We ask You for the miracles spoken of. We ask for the suddenlies. We ask for strong outpourings of your Spirit to spring up. We ask for an increase of prophetic anointing to discern and hear clearly what You are doing. And we ask that the fruit of this will be the rescue of millions of hearts around the world. Give us the billion soul harvest we have been hearing of in the spirit. We know that the shaking, here and elsewhere, is not finished. Continue to dismantle evil systems and render ineffective those who oppose You. We take the keys of Your kingdom now and bind every attempt to stop this divine shift, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. There are four concepts, embodied in four biblical words that are helpful in fulfilling our purpose and destiny. These concepts apply to both individuals and nations. Understanding them will help you greatly as you navigate around roadblocks, detours, setbacks, and delays. Prooizo The first of them is prooizo. The root word, horizo, means to mark out a boundary, the farthest reaches of a territory. You can easily see the English word horizon in this Greek word. The horizon is the farthest point visible in the distance. The prefix “pro” is the equivalent of “pre” in English, indicating something is being done “in advance” or” ahead of time.” When proorizo is used in scripture it indicates that God has determined our destinies, our futures, the boundaries and horizons of our lives...in advance! This is often the word translated as ”predestine” in Scripture. “For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren,” (Romans 8:29). The fact we have been pre-destined by God does not mean we have no choice or free will - that everything which happens to us was pre-planned by Him. It simply means God has a pre-planned destiny for us. Our responsibility is to make the right decisions in order to accomplish that destiny. Proetoimazo The second word is proetoimazo, which means to fit or measure in advance, much like a tailor or seamstress would do when making clothing for an individual. The word is used in Ephesians 2:10: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them,” (NASB). This verse is actually saying God “measured” or “fitted” us in advance for the works He intended us to do. Knowing the plans He had for us, our Creator knew the gifts, personalities, abilities, etc. we would need in order to accomplish them. As He wove us in our mother’s womb He worked those traits into our minds and bodies. We have everything we need to accomplish all God purposed for us. Prothesis The third word is prothesis. This Greek word is the origin of our English word “thesis.” A thesis explains the plan, purpose, intent, or operation of something. The word is often translated “purpose” in the New Testament: “[God] has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,” (2 Timothy 1:9; NASB). God wrote a plan, purpose, and intention for our lives before we were ever born (see also Psalm 139:13-16). Again, this does not remove from us the power of choice or free will but means there is a pre-planned purpose God wrote for us. We must draw near to Him, allowing Holy Spirit to steer us in the right directions and give us the needed training to accomplish this purpose. Achariyth The fourth word, a Hebrew word for “destiny,” gives an added and important dimension of understanding. Achariyth, is used in Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future (achariyth) and a hope.” Interestingly, that which is behind and that which is ahead comes from the same Hebrew word. The explanation for this is that Hebrews pictured a person moving toward her or his future as one rowing a boat: they back into their future. Listen carefully. The best way to propel a rowboat is to do so with your back toward the direction in which you’re heading. As you row backward, which is actually forward, you cannot stay on course if your head is continually turned to look behind you. The angle of your body will cause you to angle the boat. The key is to find a reference point in the direction you are facing and align it with your destination behind you. Then you can row toward your destination without constantly turning your head around to look behind you. To state this another way, your reference point is in the past, where you have already been, behind you. You are using your past to reach your future. The spiritual meaning is that we move forward, in part, by keeping ourselves reminded of what God has done, shown us, or told us in the past. Our faith is anchored in this, starting with His word. We cannot see all of the future, but we can see His promises. We can hold fast to and align ourselves with what He has said. We are “rowing” by faith. It is no revelation that God does not share all the details of our future with us. He demands that we walk by faith as we pursue our purpose and destiny. When we experience challenges, obstacles, detours, and even failures, we must keep our focus on His word and past faithfulness, knowing if we do so, He will keep us on course. Obviously, these four truths and principles are pertinent for us individually. However, they are true for nations, as well. In fact, the plans and destiny spoken of in Jeremiah 29:11 were for the nation of Israel. Acts 17:26 also tells us that He appoints the boundaries and destinies of nations: “And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation.” The word “appointed” in this verse is protasso, which means “a specific command for a specific purpose.” God commanded the times and places of nations and He did so for specific purposes. America has gotten off course. Forgetting what God has said, we have attempted to find our future without yesterday’s reference point. God has said that He is correcting this. We must continue to agree with Him, not our present circumstances and failures. We must persevere in releasing our faith for a complete restoration, standing on the promises He has given us. Keep rowing, both for yourself…and for our nation..! Pray with me: Father, as we row toward the good future You spoke of in Jeremiah 29:11, we face many obstacles. And yes, at times, we take our eyes off of Your words and promises. This causes us to row off course; sometimes we even row in circles! However, in Your mercy and patience, You are offering to get us back on course. You are faithful to correct our mistakes and shortcomings. America has gotten off course. We have become so disoriented that we are rowing away from our destiny. But You are restoring us. You are restoring us to the old road Jeremiah spoke of (Jeremiah 6:16). You have said, “America shall be saved.” We believe this. We are focused on it. We, the Ekklesia, are looking back at the reference point of Cape Henry and other important benchmarks in our history. We have locked our gaze upon them and our intercession and decrees are now aligned with Your purposes. As our prayers have gotten back on course, You will now use them to turn America back toward her destiny. We stake our claim to this through the power, blood, sacrifice, and authority of Jesus, amen.
