DFM welcomes delegates from Erbil Stock Exchange and the Governance Committee in the Iraqi region of Kurdistan - Press Release The second of its kind visit aimed to wrap up the preparations for launching stock mark in Kurdistan Dubai, 18th March 2014: Dubai Financial Market (DFM) received delegates from the Iraqi region of Kurdistan including board members of Erbil Stock Exchange (ESX) and the Governance Committee in the region as part an understanding to provide necessary technical support to set up the Erbil Stock Exchange (ESX). The delegates have attended a two day extensive and comprehensive orientation program on various characteristics of the financial market. The 8-member delegation, headed by Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Abdulrahem, Chairman of Erbil Stock Exchange, was received by senior DFM officials including; Hassan Al Serkal, Executive Vice President, Chief Operations Officer, Head of Operations Division, Maryam Fekri, Executive Vice President Chief Operations Officer, Head of Clearing, Settlement and Depositary Division, and Jamal Al Khadhar, SVP, Head of Strategic Planning and Human Resources Division. It is noteworthy that this is the second of its kind visit to DFM, as the two sides have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that creates the general frame work for the areas of cooperation and various aspects of DFM's technical support to develop the capital market in Erbil during an earlier visit to DFM in 2012. The program included various presentations about the key components of the financial market, managing and sustaining a trading engine, market control, Clearing, Settlement and Depository, financial services and business development as well as Corporate Governance practices. The program included a tour of DFM's trading floor. HE/ Essa Kazim, Chairman, DFM Company said: "DFM is delighted to receive the delegation from the Iraqi region of Kurdistan. In fact, we are always eager to strengthen relationships with the Arab and international exchanges and look for greater co-operation to share knowledge and adopt international best practices. We are pleased to offer DFM's substantial experiences for the development of a capital market in Kurdistan. In the past, we have provided similar support to other Arab countries such as Sudan and Yemen and we hope that this visit represents a foundation for a lifelong collaboration with the Iraqi region of Kurdistan."
