An American plan to secure the Green Zone Time: 01/23/2021 17:22:34 Read: 170 times (Baghdad: Al Furat News) The US embassy in Baghdad announced today, Saturday, the allocation of 20 million dollars to secure the "international zone" known as the Green Zone. The embassy stated in a press release, "The United States has allocated nearly $ 20 million to support the Iraqi government in securing the international zone, and this support includes funding a team of civil engineers to conduct a comprehensive survey of the current entry points to the international zone, and to develop plans for new gates." She added, "Brigadier General John Taykert, chief defense affairs officer at the United States Embassy, today presented the final report from the survey team to Major General Hamid Mahdi Al-Zuhairi, commander of the Iraqi Special Division responsible for the security of the international zone." The embassy added, "This handover represents an important achievement to confirm the currently ongoing cooperative project to enhance the security of the international zone of Baghdad and secure the headquarters of the Iraqi government."
