Al-Kazemi's office said, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that the latter chaired, today, a meeting of the Ministerial Council for Energy, in the presence of the person in charge of managing the Ministry of Electricity and the advanced cadre of the ministry, indicating that he listened to a detailed explanation of the reality of electric energy during the coming months in the fields of production, transmission and distribution, As well as maintenance of electrical stations. The meeting witnessed a discussion of the current state of electricity, the ongoing preparations to provide electric power, and proactive measures to address the problems and obstacles that may impede increasing production and cause a potential crisis in the summer, according to the statement, which added that the meeting touched upon mechanisms of communication with the Iranian side, regarding the provision of Iranian gas. . In this regard, Al-Kazemi directed assigning a working team from the Ministry of Electricity to travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran, to solve problems related to the Iranian side regarding supplying Iraq with gas. The Prime Minister directed the need to take practical steps by overcoming all obstacles facing production, transportation, distribution and maintenance operations. In order to ensure more hours of supplying citizens with electricity during the summer. The meeting also witnessed a presentation on plans to protect electric power towers, and the sabotage and theft they are exposed to, as well as a discussion of the status of the work progress in the rehabilitation of the Baghdad / Baiji-400KV line, and follow-up of the remaining works necessary to complete its operation. The Iraqi government relies heavily on Iranian gas for the production of electric power throughout the country, and last summer witnessed a poor preparation of electric power after Tehran stopped supplying gas due to the accumulation of debts.
  2. After spending 80 billion dollars.. Maintenance in the vicinity cuts off electricity for 5 days to Iraq 10-10 2022 02:46 Shafaq News/ Despite the mild weather, the electricity sector crisis in Iraq continues due to the absence of Iranian gas again, due to maintenance work inside Iranian territory, while an economic expert revealed the amounts spent on the national electricity system. And the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced, in a statement yesterday, Sunday, that maintenance work for gas pipelines inside Iranian territory, which transports gas to the central region, leads to the loss of up to 2500 megawatts of electricity in Iraq. The ministry's statement also indicated that the shortage of Iranian gas quantities will affect a small percentage of the hours of electricity supply to citizens in the capital, Baghdad, and the central regions, during the period from 10 to 15 October. More than 80 billion dollars was spent without solutions!! The economic expert, Basem Jamil Antoine, told Shafaq News Agency, "The amounts spent on the electrical system exceeded 80 billion dollars," adding, "All these amounts were spent, and we still depend on neighboring countries to provide us with fuel and energy." He explained that "stopping corruption in the national system, solving the problem in a scientific manner, following up seriously by clean agencies, and preventing politicians from interfering with this process is the basis for solving this problem." The electricity outage crisis continues in Iraq, despite the Ministry of Electricity's announcement that its production has reached the highest level in the life of the national system. Two days ago, the Ministry of Electricity announced that Baghdad had turned off electricity for 6 hours due to a "hole" in the Iranian gas pipeline.
