Hey Darin, Thanks for the response. I just have a hard time believing in the DFI fund being a Trillion dollars. On the positive side I believe the M2 is being decreased and the foriegn reserves are increasing but one thing that is apparent when I look at the stats from central bank of kuwait and compare it to Iraq... Kuwait dealings are in billions Iraq....Trillions...I hate that fact... We need a some kind of crazy Monetary Policy for an RV. Just get the central bank off of this reserve system. Let's just say the reserves are in the ground!! I don't believe the Iraqi's will be willing to give us anything for this war. We have to hold their feet to the fire. Lets face it, the leaders of these political blocks hate the other blocks and hate the U.S. even more.

GOP Rep.: Iraq should repay the U.S. for war
quadraph0nic replied to DRV1804's topic in Iraq & Dinar Related News
Anyone who has an idea of how these people are should know that going over there and saying this in the press is not smart. These people are beyond prideful in my opinion, completely stubborn, ignorant in many ways, and they truly hate us...(just because they need you or they like our pop culture doesn't mean they like us - ironic isn't it?) So even though I agree with the congressman that Iraq needs to pay up, that's not something you just go and say to their face. For an Iraqi to see this story would be about the same difference as me sitting back and laughing at an article months ago about some Baghdad city council man spewing out how the U.S. needs to pay for the reconstruction of Baghdad. Its all just big talk from another idiot politician who is unaware of how things work... The U.S. Embassy needs to tell him shut his trap. -
Russianhuey, Darin This issue for me is a lot more simpler than LOP or RV.... We all know a LOP by itself will do nothing for the people other than change the way the notes look....for those who don't understand, it the purchasing power remains the same ie 25,000 = 25 and of course the Money supply in Iraq's case would be reduced by three zeros (there go are millions...) So they may or may not do this whatever... but the purchasing power part...the RV? because a LOP does NOTHING to improve the lives of the Iraqi's other than making it easier to count... I'm really stuck on this Full reserve banking the central bank of iraq has in place, which is basically the same as Islamic banking. They back their currency 100% with the assets they hold. For those who don't know check the data yourself under stats at cbi.iq - click on key financial indicators (its an excel spreadsheet) I know recently I've been beating the heck out of this drum but they must change this policy for any real increase in purchasing power combined with reducing the M2 and strengthening their reserves... If they really are going to present this idea to parliament that monetary policy issue may be a part of that presentation but that's not guaranteed. Shifting away from common Islamic banking practice in a land that doesn't believe in their banks???? With no actual private sector developed but some very positive projections from the IMF (to help create business interest...probably) there is still a lot of work to be done on their part!! I would say this is a huge step to undergo for them at this time especially with the poltiical/security instability. I don't see them doing anything anytime soon...They don't have too make a change to anything and they can continue to sell their dinar and just keep milking it... Someone help me out, I'm open to hear intelligent objections to this point of view

fantastic, the dinar will be cheaper to purchase....

what if RV is low?
quadraph0nic replied to nointel's topic in Opinions, Perspectives, and Your Two Cents on the Iraqi Dinar
We will just have to be happy with whatever we get, its not like we have a true voice in this thing. They know they are selling us their worthless toilet paper currency.... -
http://www.atsnotes.com/catalog/banknotes/iraq.html Looks like 1980-1982 and anyway if those are supposed to be new they look pretty used.

With this investment I think the frustration sets in every so often and it's cyclical. Some of it has to do with expectations formed based on analysis, some good and then some from some very very bad "gurus" (what tha heck is that voucher in Iraq about? ) Even though I have no hope for a short term outcome ie RV or other option.....I still think Iraq has a bright future despite security and political pit falls its currently facing...it may look worse than what it really is. We will not let them fail why? We need them as much as they need us if we are going to pull our country up. Give us cheaper oil now!

yeah thats common ammo used around these forums.

and tomorrow is friday so Bank of BAghdad is closed...nice timing. If those denoms are out, they will be there. Either way I don't get terribly excited about this kind of stuff now. How many times have we gone through small denom scenarios? The most painful one was with a guy a coworker of mine knew out here chiefv. Anyway, I think there would be a news article first about this, also about the GOI passing a law for the new currency......eeehhhh....sure these aren't sadam notes?? yeah im doom and gloom these days, someone give me something real or remind me of something real that I can't shoot down? Seen any vouchers?

Tomorrow I want to see another apology from Frank!! easyrider, thanks for the entertainment...

You've reduced our investment to a lottery ticket??? There are some people on these boards that want to understand the details to this investment as events unfold and then there are those looking for a get rich quick scheme. If you are the latter then stick with the scratch offs...

This Investment may turn out not to be that lucrative

Unfortunately I agree with person who started this thread. I will say this about a lop, by itself it will not help them and can only be part of a plan. They would also need new currency and this is costly. At the same time for an rv w/no lop they would have to abandon their islamic banking practice which is reflected in their monetary policy and also create new currency. As the thread starter said, this has never happened before. Don't be surprised if we are still in the same position next year. If u want to save your sanity think long term nothing these iraqis have done has happened over night. Sorry typing on a blackberry -
Oookay, our us congress is in control of the rv suuuure....
