And I'm giving you a "YEP" too ... You're right about duration of "speculating" with the Iraqi's too ... my personal belief is that a lot of the junk is "growing pains" if you will. No one saw a PM (who was abusing the system) unwilling to step aside (so that he could milk the system some more) as a problem to be addressed in their constitution ... you can bet that will get amended! Their budget won't be a problem because the UN won't be able to hold Chapt 7 over their head (next time). Their internal problems will be THEIR internal problems. He voiced concern that despite their knowledge of the raids, so far, not a single delegation from the Iraqi government have visited the area to confirm the more tensely getting situation. These folks haven't changed ... Sadam hated the Kurds and tried to kill all of them ... the reason ... differences is religious beliefs is what is said .... The truth is that that is where 80% of the oil is ... take control of that ... take control of the oil in Iraq. Why do you think that the Kurds could insist that $1/barrel go to their government for their people? Makes you wanna' go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I disagree with him that Iraq needs him ... it took him forever to figure out how to milk the slot machine that Uncle Sugar has set up for the Iraqi's ... he can't be that smart. Remember, it was reported right here on DV that the White House wanted al-Malaki ... the CIA wanted Allawi Besides ... if he had RI/RV'd some appropriate time frame BEFORE the elections would we be having this conversation? NO ... we'd be on our way and not looked back ... we wouldn't even know how the elections went, much less how long they took to form up the government ... and I'm betting that he would have won by a landslide! Nah ... they will be fine without him.

One of two things: ... either the Kuwaiti's are getting impatient AGAIN and putting pressure on the Iraqi's to RI/RV high or they are just as nuts as the Iraqi's! This issue has actually been settled by the UNCC ... reparations are being paid from the DFI at FRBNY to legitimate claimants (as determined by the UNCC) ... I agree that all of it has not been repaid but it will be forthcoming soon after the RI/RV. This issue is kind of like the LOP ... we see it every other week ... with the LOP someone is always claiming that it is going to happen and when you look to see who is claiming it ... it's someone you never heard of with no power. A week, a day, an hour later someone with the authority do such a thing comes out and refutes it. Here, we see the Kuwaiti's stirring it up ... it's already settled folks!!!!! So my view is that they are stirring it up to put pressure on the Iraqi's to HURRY UP AND GO HIGH ... which of course is our sentiment here at DV! So ... GO RI/RV?! Peace Doc31

Exactly ... what point would it serve ... nothing's changed ... the IQD is still pinned at 1170 (less bid/ask). They just have to have them printed/minted or it will be a mess. Frank26 reported that vaults were full of smaller denoms months ago. Personally, if I were a banker I wouldn't have accepted the fils until post RI/RV ... cumbersome and virtually valueless.

Nice insight into what happened behind the scenes and why there is so much animosity as well as why al-Maliki got dumped ... failure to recognize WHY someone (a lynchpin) was important and failing to honor your commitment to them isn't easily forgotten ... especially when you persecuted them afterwards! I've read that the Bush administration wanted al-Maliki ... the CIA preferred Alawi ... it's become clear why. Thanks for the post

This is a good article, and well worth reading. Well, it appears that the Shiite politicians have had enough of Maliki and his arrogance and lies. They don't believe him, or trust him - and are done with him...! It's about time - don't you think...??? Yep, even through the crappy translator you can read loud and clear ... ENOUGH!!!
